The family meals from here always taste great and taste is consistent. Chicken is always hot and fresh. My only complaint in terms of food would be how quickly the tortillas get cold (if they were ever heated in the first place lol) & the bland salsas. However, the chicken and sides are packed with flavor and still worth ordering. The location is convenient and service is quick BUT it's sketchy. It's super close to we still come here 80% of the time there's someone at the drive thru speaker asking you for money while ordering and eyeing you down. I've once offered food to someone there and was told they asked for money not food, so something to keep in mind. I've ran in a few times and had no issues. I think I prefer dining room pick up, parking is super close to the front door so you're in and out. Overall - a great place for a family meal. Pricing is slightly on the pricier side but with today's inflation, where isn't it? Definitely check it out if considering. read more

Last month around 6:00pm I drove there and the marquee neon wasn't on nor was the drive-thru menu board on. It was difficult to see and place my order. I hadn't been to El Pollo Loco in years until last week when I was having severe allergies. I needed a soup and Calavera was closed, so I went to the handy dandy DoorDash app to see what El Pollo Loco had. I still haven't been here physically, but this is where my order came from. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and a side salad. The chicken tortilla soup was pretty darn good for a fast food restaurant. It didn't have all of the additional fixings that you'd get at a restaurant such as fresh cilantro, sliced radishes, lime, etc, but It did what needed to be done. Along with allergy pills this definitely helped me to feel better, so I decided to order again the next night. The next night I ordered the double chicken tostada bowl. I like not having to pay extra for avocado and it already being included in the meal. I hope this never changes. The amount of chicken included is very sufficient and it's a flavorful bowl. I added salsa verde to mine. After another good experience, I decided to order AGAIN for the third night in a row. On the third night I ordered the double chicken burrito bowl. I hope that's what it's called but if not, I know you catch my drift. I'm just going to lay it all out on the table and say El Pollo Loco has better burrito bowls than Chipotle. You know how the bowl is customizable at Chipotle and you can ask for extras of this or that? I felt like this bowl came complete. Getting my food delivered from here is also trustworthy. The bag is sealed shut and you have to break it open in order to get the contents of your food. Chips and salsa that come with each meal is plenty. After not having had el pollo loco in years, it'll probably be one of my go to places for quick food, but I think I'll stick to online ordering for the most part. read more

I usually get the family meal and stretch it into several meals for myself. And I love to glaze their chicken in some bbq sauce and stick it until the broiler for a few minutes. It's a chain restaurant with over 400 locations. The food comes out pretty quickly, fast enough that a drive thru is possible. So is this just fast food like McDonald's, Chick-fil-A, KFC, and Taco Bell? My answer would be... I don't think so. It's so much better. It has been years since I've eaten at El Pollo Loco, and I have to say the California Burrito I ordered was awesome flavors combined in a tortilla. What is a California burrito? It was guacamole, French fries, rice, beans, chicken, cheese, and pico de Gallo inside a tortilla. All to create a symphony of delicious textures and flavors. The chicken was tender and moist. Actual borderline food revelations were reached. Of course the burrito wasn't a gut busting sized new born baby weight-wise. It was a modest sized burrito but it was so good, I didn't care. El Pollo Loco has never been on my regular meal list. But it was a very enjoyable tube of joy and it will be a place worth coming back and making it a regular food destination. read more

Awful service, rude staff, a total let down. At first I was exited to come here with my family. But a little later, the staff got very worked up when my daughter spilled her drink (SHE Is only 2). After she spilled her drink they threatened to kick us out if we didn't clean it up. Overall terrible experience. The food is a whole other story. We only ordered 1 thing and it took a WHOLE hour and even after that long they still managed to mess it up. I have never experienced stomach pain so sever. My sister has IBS and has always complains about her stomach pain and after this experience i can fully say i feel her struggle. Quite literally one of the best dining experiences I've had at el pollo loco. The restaurant was clean and the staff is very kind. I needed some help with using my app to score points and the woman at the register was so patient with me. One of my favorite aspects of el pollo loco is how fresh everything is! In seeing all the 5 star reviews, it must have been an off day as my order was disappointing. I ordered the 12 piece fire-grilled chicken and it was extremely dry and overcooked. The salsas were missing from the order which, in my opinion, makes the chicken complete. The corn tortillas and pinto beens were the best part of the meal. The steamed broccoli lacked flavor but was cooked well. I am not a huge fast food fan but my family was craving El Pollo Loco as we were feeling nostalgic for family night dinner with the extended family in So Cal. This, unfortunately, missed the mark for us. read more

Consistently pleased with the juiciness and flavor of their rotisserie--can't beat the price either! I notice you can't order a la cart pieces on the food delivery apps, but you can when ordering directly from El Pollo Loco's website. They have a decent variety of sides to choose from also, and I appreciate that the calorie/nutrition content is easily available on their menu and/or online. This location has always delivered on time or sooner than expected. I haven't been to this location, so I can't speak to the physical restaurant itself, but I will continue to order delivery from it for delivery during the pandemic. read more

You can actually see someone grilling and preparing the chicken inside of their restaurants. I saw real smoke in there, you guys! I usually stick with the 2piece combo meal or the Double chicken tostada bowl. The tostada shell/bowl is crispy and filled with chicken, pico de gallo, lettuce, cabbage, rice/beans, avocado, and sour cream. All ingredients are fresh and nicely put together, not messy. Prices are reasonable too. You can get a great meal with a drink for $10 bucks. Sweet! Don't forget to grab some churros. read more

So see my review on Michoacan produce you would think that place is better than pollo loco but to be honest Pollo loco left me impressed. Michoacan produce cooks their chicken with charcoal mesquite yet they sold me a chicken that was raw in the middle but Pollo loco being a fast food joint, the chicken was cooked to the bone. I had this place today for lunch and as usual El Pollo Loco always comes through. I placed my order on the app about 10 minutes prior to the time I wanted, the app is really easy to use. I signed up years ago with their rewards program and collect points each time. Today I ordered the small tortilla chicken soup and the under 500 cal chicken tortilla burrito and salad combo. The soup was so warm and full of vegetables and chicken and the toppings on the side were broken tortilla chips, Cotija cheese and cilantro which came in so delicious! The burrito was really good, the cheese melted along with the chicken and the salsa and corn and was really filling. Unfortunately, there is a time thing to their great chicken - early evening when they are gearing up for dinner time. Then the chicken is great - fresh, juicy, hot - the place is great. The sides are good. I love the salad with cilantro dressing. Tortillas are soft and warm with fresh green salsa and pice de gallo...I feel loved! What could go wrong, huh?.......Rarely have I gotten what I ordered. Tonight the salad was missing. I noticed when I got home. Should know better by now. I have had other sides missing. Wrong tortillas are a favorite ( I am allergic to gluten), and just plain wrong order could come up at any time. So, there's the secret to a fabulous meal from Pollo Loco Oakland.
