Bacon cheese hot dog (about $10) with a handful of their available toppings. Small "little" cajun fries in the bag $4.

Stopped in to try their new Patty Melt burger on the menu ($9.99). Got mine with "All the way" toppings and added a side of small fries. "All the way" toppings includes mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomato, ketchup, mustard, grilled onions, and grilled mushrooms. Also, got a couple scoops of their free peanuts (located inside, across the order counter, next to entrance) to snack on for later. I enjoyed the patty melt and think I prefer this to their regular hamburger/cheeseburger. There's something about the toasted bread slices and melty cheese that makes the patty melt a better "burger" IMO. Quality has been consistent through the years here.

Today is May 28th, and it's National Hamburger Day! To celebrate, I ordered a Cheeseburger and Regular Fries at Five Guys in Alameda. The Five Guys Cheeseburger is no lightweight. It's actually two patties of meat, so it's like a 1/2-lb double cheeseburger. Then they offer unlimited free toppings, so you can dress it up the way you like it. I topped mine with 9 toppings. OMG, those patties were cooked just right. The meat was juicy and savory. But I thought the bun wasn't quite strong enough to handle two meat patties and all those condiments and toppings. As I got thru half the cheeseburger, the bun seemed to start coming apart. Oh well, eat it faster! The regular-size fries were great and worth the price. They're fresh cut and twice fried. They serve it in a paper cup, and then it seems they added more to my bag. Five Guys is easily one of my favorite places to get a burger! Five Guys in Alameda is located at the Southshore Shopping Center. Free Parking and near the beach.

I would have to use my fingers and toes to count how many times I've been to a Five Guys burger joint in different locations and states. Surprisingly, this is my first review. Every location I have visited has been bright, clean, and welcoming, with friendly customer service. I always order the little burger all the way without mushrooms and add extra onions. Their fresh fries are crispy and seasoned to my liking, and I appreciate the option to request light salt. Once, I even tried the salted caramel bacon milkshake, which was surprisingly delicious. Additionally, the bathrooms are always clean, and I appreciate their soda machine. While it may be pricier than other burger joints, the freshness of the fries and non-frozen burgers eases my mind. I will definitely return, and I recommend giving Five Guys a try.

CAJUN FRIES all the way. Ordered online so I didn't have to wait, because there will be like a 15 mins wait if you order in the store. I'm impatient. Got two little Cajun fries, one regular cheese burger (two patties) and one bacon cheese burger (two patties), so if you're not a big eater, get the little version of the burger. I always get the little Cajun fries because they sure do fill up the little cup and give you like a LOT in the bag exceeding the cup.

I haven't had Five Guys in awhile and it was just aright. The bacon cheeseburger was good but would've been better with a bit of melted cheese and bacon not so crumbly. I liked the oreo milkshake and like that they have a lot of flavors. The prices are a bit steep for what it is though. Service was nice and not too slow.

WHEN: Saturday @7:30pm Because of COVID-19, and although the restaurant was open for ordering and outdoor dining, I placed my order online for a curbside pickup. The setup is a bit odd but doable--you park in front where it feels illegal and maybe only 3 cars can be there at a time for curbside pickup (for other establishments too). My order was ready in 10 minutes and here's what I had: CHEEESEBUGER - $8.99 Although this was not my first time having Five Guys, this was my first time ordering. What I did not know was that the base burger doesn't come with anything except cheese and 2 beef patties. You have to manually select the different toppings (condiments, lettuce, tomatoes, etc.). It's okay it was still a pretty solid hefty burger. I just had to add everything else at home. Oh and this hefty burger definitely enough for 2 servings. CAJUN FRIES (Large) - $6.09 Theses seasoned fries were really good. Lots of flavor and cooked well. The large size is very shareable and there's so much of it. I recommend giving this a try. I'd order again, only next time I'll do it correctly.

So I decided to…read morecome back and try something different this time--I ordered the garlic pepper wings, fries, and a drink (about $35 total). Unfortunately, that turned out to be a big mistake. When I opened the container, the wings looked like they just had minced garlic thrown on top with the chicken sitting on chopped lettuce with no real seasoning. I gave them a try anyway since I paid so much. But they tasted like old oil--almost a fishy flavor--which was really off-putting. I instantly started feeling sick and ended up throwing the whole meal away. I broke the chicken just to make sure it was all cooked because of the taste and it was fully cooked. Super disappointing, especially since I had a good first experience with the hot dog. If I ever come back, I'll definitely stick to that. But I'm still feeling sick from it.

The fact that the fries cost $9.50 was ridiculous for a hole in the wall. On top of that for 2 hotdogs and 1 fry we spent $48! We could have gone to a sit down restaurant for that price. No offense to this small local business but it's literally hotdogs and fries that's kinda hard to wrap your head around no matter how it's served. 2. The customer service was mid. Honestly the owner was super nice and very helpful but his staff was not so friendly. We asked for our fries to be seasoned and the owner was like I can do that for you with salt and pepper and that was good enough for us however once we received the fries they fell short so we asked the young lady upfront and immediately got dismissed. Also the food took so long and it gets you wondering why 2 hotdogs and 1 fry takes 30 minutes to make. I mean did they kill and stuff the dogs!? Just wondering. Will we come back is the big question!? It's probably a hard pass. If I'm gonna spend sitdown money at a hole in the wall then 9 times out of 10 I'm gonna just choose a sit down restaurant. Sorry to put down a local business but we have to do better so we can want to support one another. Times are too hard to pay this type of price for a hotdog

I figured I better get over her quick before it closes for good. https://www.sfgate.com/food/article/berkeley-top-dog-closing-oakland-location-21102867.php My Oakland guide, who grew up as a child in this Lakeshore Area, tells me of the old days here right at this location where the Top Dog is. It used to be a restaurant called Edy's and they had the best lime freezes. His mother used to take him here in the 1960's! I can't believe that was over 60 years ago! This Top Dog has been here for a long time, around 21 years. The little alley way that has an entrance to the Top Dog, now goes to Trader Joes, but he tells me that used to be a Lucky grocery store before. The parking structure wasn't there either. My guide is a long time Top Dog fan, from the original Berkeley locations. He even made friends with the girl cook at the north Berkeley location and ended up getting free hot dogs! He says the prices sure have gone up since the 70's ... a Kielbasa was just 70 cents! That's $4.50 now! This location runs like most locations, you just tell the cook what you want and the sausages are already cooked or cooking on the flat top grill. The buns get heated there too and then you have condiments to add. I've been a fan of Top Dog, more the Berkeley location, but it's sad to see this location close. Soon, it will just be the original Berkeley location open at the south campus.

Kasper's is housed in a cool, mid-century vintage standalone building and has a parking lot like most fast food eateries back sometime in the last century. There were two people behind the counter, both obvious veterans who split responsibilities between dressing the dogs and handling the register. The menu was pretty straightforward: nine different dogs and a chili bowl plus soft drinks and fizzes. I was hoping they might have a Chicago dog but no such luck. One thing to note for anyone who doesn't eat pork: the roasted potatoes contain bacon. I didn't realize that when ordering, so I just picked it out.
