Stopped at the bakery located inside the L&L marketplace. We bought one raspberry "cronut" with filling. The doughnut is large, had a real raspberry filling and the most amazing raspberry frosting. I am more of a savory foods person but this doughnut was really good! A bit pricey at $4.50 but you can tell it's all made from scratch with real fruit. read more

We love Five Daughters. Our favorite it the Vanilla, 100 layer donut. We recommend it to all our friends and guest as it never disappoints. The only negative is if you don't get your donut before they run out, so we recommend the 12 South location! They seem to have the highest stock of our favorite, but definitely go online and check the cameras. read more

This is the bakery's fourth and newest location in the Nashville metro area, one of the first things you'll see when you enter the shiny new L & L Market (that replaced the old restaurant equipment warehouse). And the market is lucky to have such a proven entity in Five Daughters! I can't tell if they make donuts here in such a tiny space, or have them delivered daily from the mother ship in Franklin, but they do have some equipment. That glorious yeasty smell of their magnificent donuts doesn't hit you when you walk into L & L like it does at The Factory in Franklin, so maybe they aren't made here. However, I can confirm that the donuts are just as good as any Five Daughters location! They were out of my favorite maple cronut, and that's never happened at the other stores. so inventory is probably lower here. But the backup plan, a vanilla buttercream cronut, was equal in quality to the other locations. If you're in the area, or even shopping inside L & L, you won't want to miss this stop! read more

We tried several of the donuts at Five Daughters Bakery and loved them all! My personal favorite was the vegan blueberry lemon donut -- it was so fresh and tart! My husband and I split two donuts, and I was very sad to give up the second half of that one. However, the layered cinnamon sugar donut was also very good. I love the atmosphere of this location, with all the cute stores and central seating area. And while I do not personally have any dietary restrictions, I appreciated the vegan/paleo/etc options! read more

I'll admit, I was a bit apprehensive when saw Five Daughters Bakery's actual donuts. You see, I'm a simplistic person when it comes to donuts. Give me a standard glazed and a tall glass of whole milk and I'm golden. When I saw the vast spread of available donuts, flashes of the former cupcake craze Nashville entered my mind. You see FDB's donuts look over-indulgent and over-decadent. So did the cupcakes back then, where cupcakes where overloaded with a mountain of icing where it actually ruined the cupcake. I thought to myself, is this the same? Well simply put, it's not. FDB's donuts seem intimidating but they aren't. I opted for 3 donuts because I needed to be sure they were the real deal. I got the Pineapple Whip, King Kong, and Cuban Cold Brew. Out of the 3, Pineapple Whip was the most disappointing. You see when I get something that is fruit-flavored, I expect it to taste like that fruit. The Pineapple Whip had absolutely no pineapple flavor. I tasted only the vanilla. While it was still good as for as gourmet donuts go, it was the weakest one. The King Kong ranked #2 for me. It's basically the same thing as the Maple Glaze donut but with candied bacon pieces. The bacon added a salty, savory flavor and complemented the vanilla buttercream and maple glaze. Last but not least, the Cuban Cold Brew was my favorite. I think it was the sweetened condensed milk cream in the middle that did it for me. It was like a glazed coffee cake in steroids. If you love donuts you'll love Five Daughters Bakery. If you love sweets to any degree, their donuts are a good substitute for actual dessert (I do the same thing with fresh Krispy Kreme). The donuts aren't a fad (I hope) and are legitimately delicious. read more

Highly recommend if you are looking for a quick desert. They have a flaky croissant style or regular style donut selection. We had two of their croissant donuts. Very cute spot with interesting take on the donut. The outside patio was spacious and even included a children's play area. Loved to see people casually sipping coffee and enjoying donuts together :) Good COVID precautions when we walked inside including spacing floor stickers and hand sanitizer. Also appreciated the menu board so that we could plan which donuts we wanted while waiting in line. I'm a HUGE donut fan and these were solid, though personally not my favorite type of donut. The regular size 100 layer donut was definitely better than the mini versions: first because it was filed with cream, second because it was more moist and ate fresher. The mini 100 layer donut was good to try different icings, but ate dryer. The texture of the 100 layer donut overall was good, but did seem very similar to a yeast donut vs a crossaint. Was expecting a crispier, more buttery cronut but I could've been fooled into thinking it was just a regular donut. Still very flavorful and tasty. Love me a good kouign amaan and their take on it was interesting but lacked what I love about a kouign amaan! still good and I enjoyed it but I missed the nice, crispy sugary crust that's formed with the traditional pastry. Yeast donut was fine, but would recommend skipping t try their more interesting donut creations. I'd say if you're making the trip here, stick with the full, regular size 100 layer donut. read more

Also, very limited supply and selection after lunch. We could also tell they were not fresh. If there was a discount after a certain time to sell off the older donuts since they aren't fresh any longer, I'd consider this a reasonable purchase. Five Daughters, which has several locations in Nashville, sells what they call 100-layer donuts, which are really just cronuts that they can't call cronuts because of the trademark. If you've never had a cronut before, it's a heavenly hybrid of a croissant and a doughnut. Croissant-like dough is shaped into a doughnut then fried, allowing for the formation of innumerable, flaky layers of goodness. This location is in the middle of L&L Market and is an ideal place to go if you want to avoid the crowds. The Boo (February 2020 special): 4/5 I can't resist chocolate, so I was not surprised that I enjoyed this cronut with its three types of chocolate (chocolate cake filling, chocolate fudge topping, dark chocolate chips). I especially appreciated the dark chocolate chips on top because otherwise, the cronut would've been too sweet for me (a rarity). Kid Cake (February 2020 special): 3/5 This one was definitely too sweet for me. The yellow cake filling wouldn't have been bad by itself, but it was the generous amount of buttercream frosting on top that just sweeted me out. I think this cronut would've benefited from some acidity or bitterness to add more dimension to the flavor profile. Lucy's Lemonade (February 2020 special): 4/5 The sourness from the lemon curd filling was perfect in that it complemented the sweetness of the rest of the donut. However, since this is a strawberry lemonade-flavored cronut, I would've liked to have been able to detect more strawberry flavor, but I didn't get much from either the strawberry sugar covering the cronut or the strawberry glaze topping the cronut. Tiramisu (seasonal special): 5/5 Favorite flavor I tried! I love chocolate ganache in any setting, and it was a great topping for this cronut. The donuts look good, I'll give them that, but that's where my compliments to Five Daughters ends. After hearing so many good things about Five Daughters, we admittedly had high expectations and were so disappointed! Came at 8:30am and both of our donuts were stale. The fillings were super uneven and overall the donuts were bland. When I tilted my donut to eat it, all of the frosting fell off in one large chunk. Would be willing to try the 12 South location since they are baked fresh there, but the consistent problems across both of the donuts we tried do not leave me with a lot of hope. read more

Both donuts has filling inside the flakey sugary layers. They also had mini donuts of all the flavors! We got there later in the day so there weren't as many mini options but that's to be expected with any donut shop. All of the regular donuts have some kind of cream on the top layer. My friend said out loud she didn't like cream filled donuts and the guy didn't even tell us that was part of their recipe or something... so we ended up paying over $40 for donuts that we didn't eat. We even brought them back to my boyfriend who has a huge sweet tooth and he was disgusted but the texture. Also, they added so much salt to every single item we got , including the cookies.
