There is a Mystery Donut Fairy at my work that has made glazed donuts magically appear next to our coffee maker TWICE in the last month! I couldn't resist trying them despite being "on a diet" and was blown away - tender and flavorful, just the right amount of glaze. They weren't warm but arguably better than a Krispy Kreme glazed donut from the conveyor belt when the "HOT" sign is on - possibly a blasphemous thing to say, but I said what I said! The first time the MDF brought these, the boxes were unlabeled, which made the whole situation even more magical. The second time around, one of my coworkers figured out that Donut Palace made these fluffy nuggets of deliciousness! The doughissant is a play on the famous and trademarked Cronut, but this version tastes just as good if not better than the original. Layers of flaky crust, glazed and coated in sugary goodness! I could have eaten two! We also tried the old fashioned, glazed chocolate donut, donut holes, and a sausage and cheese kolaches. The donut holes were awesome and the old fashioned donuts are always a solid choice, but the glazed chocolate was a little dry and oddly flavorless. The kolaches were delicious! My son and I had one and after trying a bite, my wife went back to the counter and bought one for herself. A kolaches is basically, "pigs in a blanket". Warm pillowy dough wrapped around a hot dog or a spicy hot-link. A great savory option in a sea sweet treats. When I read a review about donuts, I don't really need descriptions about the texture, the flavor, the qualities that tend to be universal in a mom-and-pop donut shop. Those aren't distinguishing characteristics. I want to hear about the variety. It's the clever combinations that set apart one donut place from the next. The thing I hate the most about Krispy Kreme is that you'll walk in on a random day and find maybe three or four flavors. That's pathetic. I want options! Staying true to my word, I'll only talk about variety. And the Donut Palace has so much variety that it's impossible for me to pick a dozen, much less two or three for myself. Their donut topped with crispy Fruity Pebbles cereal is literally perfection! The doughissant is a donut-croissant combo that will rock your world. The rich strawberry-frosted donut is a thing of beauty. There is such a vast variety of options at the Donut Palace, and I do love options!\ Perhaps the only thing that prevents a 5-star rating from me is that the donuts aren't quite the level of Five Daughters or Fox's Donut Den. But then again, those spots are nearly impossible to match. It shouldn't stop you from dropping by the palace when in Hermitage or Donelson. read more

This place is a-okay! It is a good local donut shop, with a variety of typical donut flavors. They even have kolaches! They are a bit different, much bigger, than I am used too, but good nonetheless. I especially like the jalapeño cheddar one! I will be getting that one again. The doughssant is just ok, I wouldn't buy it again. The Five Daughters layered donuts are much better. These are bready type yeast donuts. They are soft and fresh. I just like the more airy melt in your mouth type donut. I tried many types and the reg. glazed may be the best. Tried the blueberry cake and it didnt taste much like anything. I am more of a Krispy Kreme or Best Donuts kinda guy and this seemed more like Dunkin Donuts. The cake donuts are definitely cake-ier than other cake donuts we've had, which is definitely a plus. The double chocolate was fantastic, the red velvet and blueberry less so, but still good. Best donuts I've ever had. All the other places hand you cold, stale donuts. This place is warm, and fresh.

Very disappointed. Tried their donut holes and they were not very good. Tried the ham and cheese croissant, and it was DISGUSTING! I like American cheese, but the cheese in this had some bitter acrid taste. The croissant was small and not flaky. Just about the worst croissant I've had. I don't write bad reviews, but the croissant was so bad I had to warn others. I may be back to try their other donuts, but it's not pressing nor very likely. I love mom and pop donut shops. We have great ones back where we're from that are better than chain donut shops. But this was such a let down. read more
