First time exploring Solvang and found this place. Very chill and low key location. The owner / operator mans the bar and he brings the positive vibes. I don't drink anymore so this is just about the food. I had the lamb shank, the wife had the shepherds pie and our daughter had the fish and chips. There were no leftovers. We came for an overnight trip to Solvang and this restaurant was one of only a few restaurants that were open for dinner on a Monday night, so we went. We would have been better off not eating at all than going to this place. The tables were so sticky that my purse stuck to the table. The food sounded great, and we were excited, but it was terrible! First, they had a 4 Cheese Mac and Cheese as an appetizer, which sounded odd, so we thought we would try that. It was so running and had no real flavor at all, we wondered where the 4 cheeses went. I ordered the Bangers and Mash, excited to try something different and I was so disappointed. The sausages were tasteless and over cooked, the mash was cold and covered with a very odd, dark sauce/gravy. My daughter had the Shepherds pie and she said it was tasteless, bland, no flavor at all. To top it all off we both asked for water with no lemon and instead got lemon water and when we asked for new glasses of ice water with no lemon the waitress gave us a strange look. I don't recommend this place at all. Maybe it was a bad night so if you choose to go here remember that you were warned. read more

I met him in person and took a selfie and he recommended the fish and chips. It's a touristy Town and they have a lot of tourist events so you have to expect it's not the McDonald's drive-through. Ironically the best food we had in Solvang, despite being patently not danish. We had the Reuben and the Corn Chowder, and left poem for addition to the book. The Reuben is legit, and has real meat instead of the thin sliced packet corned beef/pastrami seemingly every other darn restaurant gives you in the world. The staff are all great, and the owner is hilarious (does he wear a kilt everyday?) The interior design is nothing fancy, but it's not supposed to be - it's an Irish themed tavern. We'll definitely check it out again if we are ever in Solvang again. read more

Wow, we heard this place was good but do not go here. The service was the worst we have ever seen. We waited in line when there was no line and they wouldn't acknowledge us so after 25 minutes we had to ask. After finally getting in, the blond waitress with tattoos was so rude to the guests and we heard her talking about guests behind the bar and was horrible. Peoole were trying to come to the bar to get drinks to be met with the speach of "it's drinks only and no food". We joined the waitlist and went to find host but server said they don't have a host and have nothing to do with Yelp. Funny he said that because there is a Yelp sticker on window where menu is showcased outside. Worst service I've ever gotten, my server came to my table 2 times 1 to get my order (which they got wrong) and the second was after waiting for 30 minutes to try and get a box and the check. There was also a hair in my food and the fries were the worst I've ever had. But the location was pretty and the burger was very good even though i didn't order it. I wish o could have gotten what I ordered but the service never came again for me to try and get it corrected. Also no condiments for the fries which may have made them at least edible. Was definitely discriminated against here. I came in with my group of friends, all latinas. The waitress with short curly blonde hair completely ignored and dismissed us. As soon as we walked in we were ignored, which we gave the benefit of the doubt to. Once she came to our tables to give us our menus she just threw them on the table without any welcome. Two groups came in after us who were both greeted with a warming tone and everybody else around us was checked in on professionally. When she took our order she kept giving us an eye roll and snatched the menus out of our hands. It definitely was discrimination since we were the only group of Latina's in there and almost all of the people there were white. After a day of shopping and exploring Solvang in 40 degree weather for the first time on a Saturday, we decided to stick around in town and get some warm comfort food in before heading back home. My mother-in-law and husband being part Irish, we decided to check this place out! Service wise - our hostess and waitress was very sweet and kind. She informed us right away that they were out of mashed potatoes (sadness -0.5 stars), but that they DID still have French fries and quartered potatoes (yay!). My mother-in-law was really set on Shepards pie, but due to the lack of mashed potatoes changed her order to Fish N' Chips. So, we got the Fish N' Chips, Guinness Stew, and Corn Beef & Cabbage - along with a few rounds of properly poured Guinness's and beer cocktails *thumbs up*. Unfortunately the food took over 45 minutes to prepare (-0.5 stars) of which we learned was because there was only 1 cook in the kitchen (poor guy...on a Saturday to boot!). Our waitress was sincerely apologetic and remained cordially communicative and professional throughout. BUT - the grub was delicious! And I'd order everything again! Particularly the Fish N' Chips which were battered perfectly and a hefty flaky nice portion of fish! Our table was sanitized before we sat down, however, I was surprised that reusable menus were used. I'm not sure if they sanitize them in between customers. Our server was fairly attentive. She kept water glasses filled and checked in with us. The food was a mix of good to just okay. My daughter had the mac and cheese, add bacon and she found it to be bland. I had the pulled pork sandwich with a side salad. The pork was okay but some globs of fat - gross. The side salad was very basic. My hubby had the best meal of all, a burger along with onion rings.
