Loved the Malaysian offerings here. Came with a big group and they were very accommodating to us, service was excellent. Definitely will be coming back here for more of that laksa.

I been wanting to visit this place for a while now. It's difficult to find a really good laksa place in the city and I was so excited to finally find one. I came first time during lunch hours but they were closed! The yelp hours need to be updated. I visited again during dinner time and they were open. It was pretty empty inside just another table dining. Staff were friendly and the food was served quickly. Ordered the curry laksa and the rendeng beef. I felt like the portion size was a little bit small. The curry laksa was not bad but didn't have any seafood, just tofu and what seemed like a meatball/fish cake. But flavor was not bad. The noodles were also not quite what I expected. It was like meifun noodles but I was expecting more thicker noodles. Overall: it was not bad but didn't quite meet my expectations. I wouldn't come again.

Nasi Lemak

Great food great service! Fried rice is super crispy, wings are crunchy as well. Nasi lemak was also really good

Upon entering you walk into what seems to be an American bar but in actuality once you sit down you get a completely different menu than you would expect! Quiet but quick service, we went with the top 3 most popular dishes. Our favorite was the crispy rice and the potatoes in the curried chicken were delicious! The curry laksa was a new taste to us but also good.

I can't say enough good things about this place! I came here because of the perfect 5 stars on Yelp and Mama did NOT disappoint!!!!!! I had made a reservation for 5 and a baby on Easter Sunday and was greeted by one of mamas sons and a lovely waitress who let us have a table in the back that was more quiet than the front area, they even offered to let us watch whatever we wanted on both tvs! We ordered family style off the menu and got the crispy rice, char kueh teow, beef redang, mamas chicken curry, lots of fresh roti, and the laksa. I cannot tell you what I liked best because it truly felt like every bite was better than the last. I was truly blown away by the flavours mama was cooking up in the back, and the fact that she came to check in on us too! If you're looking for authentic Malaysian, and some incredible service - this place is a MUST!

One of the best curry laksa's and beef satay I've had in a long time. Everything was full of flavor and authentic. We got to meet the owner and most of the recipes are made by his mom. We had a incredible experience here. If you are around the area looking for homemade Malaysian food and drink it is definitely worth a try.

Possibly the kindest owner in all of east village working with his mom to make quality, home style Malaysian/canto food. It's lovely. The style of the restaurant is a true mix of cultures which was fun to see. You think you're walking into an American bar, but the menu has delicious satay, dumplings, and curries. Only in NYC :) Got the curry laksa and the nasi. Both were awesome and plenty of food for us 2. If you're debating on going, just do it!!!

- everything was amazing from the throw back 90s alternative rock music to the absolutely delightful server (Heather), Alex the bartender is also great - the mussels were delicious and perfectly cooked, came with a side of little fried roll/bun/dough things that were a little sweet and went well with the sauce - we ordered two noodle dishes and both were really tasty - I've never been it their other location (fishmarket I) but I'll certainly be back to try the other items on their menu at this location - recommend: garlic wings

So happy that I found another solid Malaysian food place in the city!! As someone who visited Singapore and KL often growing up, I have been on the hunt for Malaysian food when I moved to NYC! The curry laksa here definitely hit the spot!! Although the soup isn't as heavy on the shrimp flavors, its garlic-y and coconut-y aroma is highlight of this soup! As soon as staff brought it out, you could smell the onion and curry immediately! The thin rice noodles are my favorite and love how they are al dente and never got soggy. The laska also featured stuffed eggplant and stuffed pepper (kinda like the 煎酿三宝) which I loved!! I think its stuffed with pork/shrimp and goes so well with the curry. The dish also featured a good amount of tofu puffs, bean sprouts, and bean curd sheets. The beef rendang is typically my other go-to. The version here was a little different but still delicious! Instead of chunks of meat, their beef was more shredded/pulled. The rendang base featured kaffir lime leaves which offered a fresh contrasting flavor to the spices/curry (more than what typical lemongrass would do). The spicy chicken and green bean was pretty standard. The sting beans were crispy and chicken tender. The sauce was a little more generic like a stir fry but I did appreciate the sesame oil and chili oil. They do have rotating specials but didn't get a chance to try. The restaurant itself only had moderate amount of tables but they do have some bar seating. Our server was really nice but maybe a little too attentive. Overall loved the familiar but also new flavors and definitely see myself coming back!

First visit here on a Sunday night. The place was completely empty. I ordered the curry laksa, my favorite soup, for $24.83. The portion size leaves a lot to be desired for that price. The soup is very salty & oily. And the spice level was too high for my taste. I didn't find the soup to be enjoyable at all. The chunks of eggplant are thin and overcooked rather than thick & juicy. There's supposed to be fish in here, but I couldn't make out what kind of fish because it was cut in thin strips that were slimy on one side & crispy on the other? I'm sorry to say I didn't enjoy this at all. The lady who took my order was friendly & nice, but the laksa was overpriced & not to my liking.

Curry Laksa - very good

Very curious if Fishmarket II will ever become Fishmarket I or not (ha!) Curry Laksa - soup wasn't thick so he doesn't feel too heavy like typical Laksa, yet very flavorful with a strong spicy kick. Wish there's cilantro in the soup flavor. Some basic fish balls which were boring, with some meatballs and tofu skin. Overall a great dish. Stuffed Eggplant - not bad but would be better with more stuffed fish/shrimp, can't really taste them. A bit greasy. Would come back!

For our appetizer and entrees, we ordered the roti canai, Hainanese chicken, and tom yum clams, as well as chicken rice on the side. My favorite was the roti canai, but all of the savory dishes were very good and comforting. I normally never finish my rice, but the chicken rice went very well with the tom yum soup. For dessert, we ordered the ABC, which was a shaved ice dish with a variety of toppings. I didn't enjoy it as much as the other dishes, but it was refreshing and light. This meal came out to be about $35 per person after tax and tip.

We ordered the sarang burong, seafood scramble egg chow fun, hainanese chicken over rice and the roti canai. The roti canai came out quick. The roti was cold but crispy. Guess it was just sitting there and not freshly made. Thankfully the curry dip was hot. The sarang burong came out next and it was very bland. No flavor what so ever. It was just stir fried chicken shrimp and veggies topped with cashews. Wish it was flavorful. Salt would have been nice or some sort of Malaysian flavor. The fried taro was cold also. Guess it was just sitting around til someone orders it. The hainanese chicken was also bland. Not even the dark soy sauce or the water downed hot sauce on side could have saved it. Only thing flavorful was the chicken flavored rice. The seafood scramble egg chow fun was the saving grace. Flavorful and tasty. Don't think I will come back and stick with going to West New Malaysia from now on.

So when the server asked us what we'd like to drink, we asked for hot water (later found out we were charged $1 for each cup of hot water). We ordered the beef rendang, chicken satay and singapore noodles (with tofu and vegetables). I had been hoping to try the soft shelled crab but perhaps it's out of season or no longer on the menu as I didn't see it. The chicken satay came out first, it was 4 sticks of skewered chicken drenched in a slightly spicy creamy peanut sauce. This was the second favorite dish of the table as the chicken was tender and the peanut sauce paired well with it. The singapore noodles were unexpected the favorite of the table. The flavor profiles weren't too crazy just a simple curry flavor but mixed with the thin noodles and other ingredients, it was savory and not too heavy to eat a lot of. The beef rendang was the last dish to come out, the beef pieces were very tender and this was the spiciest dish out of all 3 that we had ordered. It came with about a bowl's worth of white rice on the side and some cucumbers and purple cabbage salad. It was a pretty okay lunch. Not the best Malaysian food I've had (Chinatown is still the best spot for me) but it's a good spot if you're craving Malaysian food in the west village area. Bathrooms were immaculately clean which is always a plus.
