Quite literally stumbled upon this place and had zero clue how amazing it would be. Didn't even realize there was an upstairs until we were leaving super quaint spot with amazing selection of cocktails and bar snacks. SEA flavors are amazing and they have the best fries. This place is so quaint and sexy. The food was small but mighty, and the selection of mocktails for this #sobersista had nice variety and were great tasting. Great place for a date or to spill tea with a bestie. Service was attentive and swift. I can't wait to visit again! read more

Super creative cocktails and great and knowledgeable staff. We were recently in Singapore and it captured the vibe.

It's often surprisingly challenging to find the right bar or restaurant near Union Square. For drinks and light snacks, Singlish is one of my go-tos. The vast menu of SEA-inspired cocktails usually impresses guests, although I find that inventiveness tends to surpass flavor with many of the offerings. I ordered the Black and White, which was my preferred drink of the evening thanks to heavy pandan notes. The Falooda was a bit of a disappointment - they could have used a bit of Roohafza at a minimum, but it tasted a bit more like a generic rose flavored spritz. read more

Great bar with unique drinks, loved that there seemed to be a story behind the naming of each of the drinks! Tried a variety and couldn't go wrong with any of them! The fries were also a perfect snack. Just a note that the bartender was pretty chatty and would jump into our conversation, so just be prepared if you end up sitting at the bar. read more

Service was responsive. They were able to work a seat in for me without a reservation, which I appreciated because it was busy. There are 2 floors and it's very narrow inside, so it'd be wise to check for reservations in advance. Every drink has a story that is drawn from Singapore, which I appreciate as someone with roots in Southeast Asia. The drinks themselves are on the pricier end and the laksa drink I got did not come off as strongly as I would have liked. If you're going to have laksa, I really want the curry flavor and lemongrass to come through. The winner of the night was the chicken "slider" (which was really just a burger). Very juicy, very crispy. read more

We came just for drinks and have not tried the food here. Upstairs is very cute and was the perfect volume and atmosphere for catching up with friends for a late night cocktail. The drinks were inventive and different. Everyone highly enjoyed exploring the menu. The serving sizes are a bit on the small side for price, and we were also unaware our time at our table was timed. Maybe this information was included when I made the reservation and I missed it which is fair but just hindered the vibes of the evening a bit when we were told we had 10 minutes left. read more

Really loved the décor here - very unique and tropical-inspired. The menu was also beautifully designed, and the staff were super nice and friendly. But I was shocked that the three cocktails I wanted most weren't available. Ordering three in a row and none of them being in stock was honestly so disappointing. read more

We were looking for a place for drinks and light snacks after a movie and decided to try Singlish. So glad we did! First of all, the ambiance. The place is small, with a few tables and a couch downstairs and more seating upstairs where the bar is. We got a high table downstairs, which is gorgeous, with lots of beautiful crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Service was attentive. Our drinks were really good; I had a mezcal pineapple chili cocktail and my friend had hot jasmine tea with some kind of alcohol in it (can't remember, but it was delicious), We shared nyonya top hats filled with jicama and fermented soy beans and a spicy papaya salad. Everything was excellent. Only one slight complaint...... the place is pretty expensive. Still, I look forward to returning. read more

We were seated as a walk in party of 2 pretty quickly, although the space felt a little cramped and unorganized. I'm not sure if this is because we were seated in the downstairs area and not the upstairs, but it is a small place overall. I really liked the presentation of the drinks on the menu. They are very on theme with the Singaporean identity of the bar and each drink has a blurb about the culture behind the drink which I really appreciated. The drinks were a little bit pricey in my opinion for what we got; they were good but the quality felt a little bit lower than a dedicated cocktail bar. Overall though, experience was pretty good but I think I would try other cocktail bars around the area before going back. read more

I was very excited with the menu BUT, the Laksa cocktail was not very laksa, the Salted Egg Martini doesn't have salted egg taste but an eggshell on the top. I was very confused. I felt like they want to be unique and creative but not bold enough to really blend the flavors in? It has a lot of potential but just need to be bold and go with the concept. Food menu were much more reduced from what's shown online. read more

We had a screening at the movie theater down the street. Walked in with 10 people around 10pm and took over the downstairs. Very cute spot. Food is terrific. Everything is pricey these days in the city. Falooda cocktail in a tea cup tastes like roses. Fries were incredible with some spices on top. Dumplings were delicious. Little cups with mushrooms were unique and delicious. Jicama salad is a little spicy. 1 app and a drink was $45 with tax and tip. read more

Super cute tiny two floor walk up. The downstairs has seating for at most 4 groups and upstairs has 3 booths, seating at the bar and standing area. It is tiny but love the decorations and vibe. Pretty fantastic! I lived in Singapore for a while growing up, so I was looking forward to eating here. I ordered the char kway teow, which was absolutely delicious. Heard a lot about this place, was glad to finally check it out. Not everyday you come across a Singaporean fusion cocktail bar and I hope this place sticks around. The drinks are very interesting, and going to be unlike something you've tried before. Each one honors a ton of different ingredients - I got one that had turmeric and curry in it which was super interesting - i'd reserve this for an adventurer. The ambience is intimate, dimly lit, and nice. It wasn't super crowded at 7pm on a Sunday but people started trickling in and it got louder for sure. Def recommend reservation if you can do it in advance. There's an upstairs where they seem to try to seat people first with booths, high tops and bar seating. There's a downstairs as well, where the bathroom is but it never seemed to have people get seated there throughout my visit. Come here for unique drinks, and a taste of Singaporean culture in an intimate, nonfussy setting. read more

This is a very small, cramped, and narrow space especially the downstairs room. There is a very small bar downstairs I think 2 seats. Upstairs has a larger bar with I believe 6 seats. I found it odd that we were told we could only have the table for an hour. It's especially bothersome when it takes 20 minutes just to get a drink. Typical craft cocktail bar where it takes forever to get a drink. I'm not sure if the menu changes a lot. I see these pictures of what almost look like meals. There were only 5 items on the menu a couple of different wontons and fries. Loved the decor but it might contribute to the cramped feeling. The table service was fine. Prices were reasonable for cocktails. read more

This is a very cool space, but unfortunately I wasn't super impressed by the drinks. The "Die Die Must Have" was a bit too sweet, and the Kopi was made with Mr. Black, which is just lazy imo. Service was decent! read more

Like every other bar in NY, the space is small. It is cozy and intimate. Not a great place to go if you don't want others to hear your conversations. There is limited seating and a bar to sit at to chat with the bartender. First off, the fries are great! Like McDonald fries and very crispy. The seasoning they use is addicting. The drinks are very unique. When in doubt, get the Chope if you like something on the sweeter side. Die Die Must Try and Girl from Ipoh and favorites as well. read more

We visited Singlish twice in two of the three evenings during our recent visit to NYC because we really liked its cocktails and mocktails. The server we had seemed very talented in recommending drinks based on customer descriptions of their taste preferences. The price is a bit higher than at a typical bar, but the experience is well worth it in our view. The staff does try to get customers to leave and make space for new customers if they have finished their drinks and food without intent to order more, which is understandable. read more

As a cocktail lover.. this place is OK. It's expensive. $20+ price point gives the drinker the expectation that the drinks will blow you away; the drinks were good but nothing.. that tugs me to want to go back? Nothing mind-blowing or something id mark as a unique signature drink despite the really cool menu. It'd easily be 4 stars if the prices dropped to around 18-20 vs 20+. With friends, I got to taste 6 drinks. Most have a very crisp, clear taste. The drink with thai tea and the sesame probably would be crowd favorites. I tried the laksa -- i wish the flavor was a bolder. i felt like i was just drinking a spicy marg. The martini - i didnt find it briney per the menu and didn't really taste salted egg too much vs the chili oil drops(?). I hear that their menu will be updated. read more

Really enjoyed this place! My friend and I came here to grab drinks and just chat and I love the ambiance inside! Super cozy and well decorated. It's a small space but there's an upstairs and it's just very intimate. Service was great, our waiter was very helpful. All of their drinks are Thai inspired/have Asian flavors mixed in which I love. Both of our drinks were delicious. We also ordered some of the food: Singlish fries and the fried wontons. Both were very delicious and were just enough to hit our snack cravings. Would definitely come back just for the vibes and drink combinations. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! This has quickly become my fave bar in nyc and that's saying a lot since I consider myself a cocktail connoisseur and pretty picky with my cocktails. Here are the reasons why: 1. If you love spirit forward drinks like I do, then this shall be your heaven. I would strongly recommend the one bam. This is probably the strongest drink on the menu- 3oz of alcohol, and you will definitely feel the effects of alcohol, however it tastes so yummy and you can't taste the alc at all this is when I know a cocktail is extremely well made. Also one drink in that flask is actually equivalent of 3 small shots, so you are definitely getting your money's worth 2. Pretty presentation / intimate ambiance : space is limited and small, thus why it's such a great date spot. 3. Intricate taste profiles- each cocktail is so well made; and there are so many ingredients that go into crafting the cocktail. THIS IS LITERALLY ART. I don't just feel like I'm drinking a cocktail, it feels like I'm appreciating state of the art 4. Service is immaculate. I LOVED our bartender, she was super knowledgeable of the ingredients and the recipes and was just a super down to earth and cool person. She even comp'd our last drink ( so nice of her ) I would definitely go back and try everything else on the menu!! read more

I was excited to check this place out after watching all the tik tok videos about this place. Unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype for me. First, it's a bit hard to find the place, especially in the evening as there is no clear sign. Just the number 17. It's also located on the second floor of a building. The place itself is really tiny and dimly lit. Its definitely a cute spot for a a first date. The seating is limited and all the tables are for two people and no more. So it's not great for big groups. Also, highly recommend making reservations if you decide to come here. The drink menu looked interesting. Lots of interesting twists on drinks with Asian flavors. I got the die die hard cocktail which was a lychee and ginger cocktail. It was decent but nothing amazing. My friend got the wasted scotch which she didn't really enjoy because it was a bit too strong for her taste. We were also really hungry but had dinner reservations so we ordered the money bag. It was two tiny pieces and wasn't anything great. read more

4.5. A Singapore-inspired bar, hence the name. This bar is small but plays true to its roots and has a fun menu. Drinks were unique and well made - I got the chiobu (Singapore slang for a cute girl and that I am); granted the chiobu was slightly sweet for my taste but perhaps I'm just too spicy ;). Jokes aside, my favorite was this refreshing teacup drink (forgot the name) - it was fresh and slightly sour, served with a rice crispy. Their Kopitiam (version of espresso martini) is true to a Kopitiam coffee (sry, unhelpful if you've never had), which is a bit more creamy and sweet. Clearly I didn't do my research bc I now see that I did not order the most fun drinks (by presentation) - the Mai Lai (salted egg martini) and One Bam (this mahjong looking drink). Guess I might need to revisit. Vibes wise, this spot isn't super canoodling conducive. It's dim and appropriate for 1st dates, many dates in, friends etc but doesn't give romantic intimacy. It's quiet so a good place to talk. Given that you're looking at this review up to now, it's unlikely you'll be anywhere near Singapore. Come for good drinks with an Asian twist and you'll be in for a good time. read more

Cozy small place. You definitely can only fit up to four max per table. They can bring a barstool for a fifth, but I would not come here with a large group. This is a date setting speakeasy. They don't play music too loud so you're able to talk to your friends. The drinks are all cute, but probably the most expensive drinks that I have seen at a speakeasy they range from 25 to 40. The drinks were good, but I would not say they were worth the price point. read more

Came here on a Saturday night with res. Super intimate, cute little bar which is vibey and a nice date ambiance. Music selection was a bit off (they were playing pretty basic edm trash) but I've heard on other nights it's really good. Our specific waiter was attentive but we felt like the other waiter working was being weird and unhelpful - acted like they were off duty although they were there. Cocktails are quite pricy and I didn't really like the drinks but the bar food was good (we ordered the whole menu, which is compact). Fried chicken sliders are a must get and they have a good spicy kick that sneaks up on you. The fries also have a delicious seasoning on them! I felt kind of greased out after a while but it was still delicious. read more

terrible service is what comes to mind from this establishment. i have been here twice, one with no reservation and no one acknowledged us even though we tried to get someone's attention. completely ignored. we didn't have a reservation so understandable we could not get a table. the second time we came, we had a reservation for 2 at a TABLE. they sat us at a bar and we had asked to move to a table b/c we specifically requested a table for our reservation. their response was "sorry theyre taking longer than expected at the tables". we were pretty upset that this place does not manage their reservations properly. there are many ways to fix the reservation system, such as not offering the option for table or bar or decreasing the amount. it's not the fact that we had to sit at the bar, but the principle that our reservation was not honored. additionally, we sat at the bar but was not acknowledged by bartender at all. they focused on the other customers that were there but never looked at us. the level of attention we received was close to nothing. cocktails were okay, pretty pricey. i wouldn't come back just purely on the service DIY singaporean sling was unique though, def enjoyed making my own cocktail read more

Fun drinks and fun atmosphere!! Came with 2 friends because I had been curious about this place for a while. Not sure if i'd call this place a speakeasy, but it definitely had speakeasy vibes. Beautifully decorated with great drinks, Singlish is a great spot to catch up with friends or go on a first date. When i looked online, all the reservations had been booked. However, we called at 5.30 (when they opened) and secured a spot. I will say that the space is small and it was quite crowded by the time we left. For food we ordered the duck tongue and fries. Both were delicious! We ordered a plethora of drinks (cannot recall which ones specifically) recommended to us by our waiter. All the drinks were unique and delicious. Specifically, my friend ordered a curry- like drink which was different but really tasty! I highly recommend making a visit here!! Also their bathrooms are pretty clean which i appreciate. read more

My friends and I were so lost trying to find Singlish. LOL. Tucked away upstairs, you enter a dimly light, gorgeous space. You feel very royal. The service was good, and attentive. I really enjoyed the unique cocktails. I personally had the 'One Bam' and I added rum to the durian mocktail. One Bam was strong, but the flavors were too subtle for me. The durian mocktail was flavorful and I was happy with how much it actually tasted like durian. I tried my friends' cocktails as well and my favorite was the Thai Iced Tea one. It was smooth and very well put together. Best and only(?) thai iced tea cocktail ive had. I am docking a star because while Singlish had great cocktails, many were just not worth the price. As someone born and raised in Singapore, had to check out the cute new spot by the owners of Laut. Enter Chard and head through the door to the left to get to the bar. It's very very small so would definitely recommend either coming early or making a reservation. The food at Chard looks goooood and I'll definitely have to try it. Sugarcane juice was out of season though (and they didn't know when it'd be back) which was a shame. Onto Singlish though! We got the One Bam and Die Die Must Try firstly because of the amazing names and secondly because we were told they're sweet and popular. One Bam is named after the one bamboo tile in Mahjong and comes in a lamp shaped vessel with small MJ tiles (so so cute!). Tactically though, this was pretty difficult to drink from. Die Die Must Try was much more typical, with a few cute flowers adorning the top. Both drinks were quite strong (at least taste-wise) and reminded me of Hong Kong LKF cocktails. Great for if you're wanting to go out that night, but IMO not necessarily so tasty it's dangerous. Solid drinks and such a cute concept! read more
