    I primarily came here to try their Kaya Toast and Muah Chee since we don't have any Malaysian restaurants in Philly offering those. We got the Nasi Lemak, Kaya Toast and Penang Style Muah Chee. The Nasi Lemak was good - the dried anchovies were salty, and the rice was bland so when mixed properly, the flavors were perfectly balanced. The Kaya Toast was a little disappointing - unfortunately the Kaya Jam had a very strong smell of a specific type of coconut hair oil available in India, and I just couldn't get past it. I have made Kaya Jam at home following various YouTube videos and it turned out so good and so much better than here that I will stick to my homemade Kaya jam for any future cravings. The Penang Style Muah Chee was our favorite of the bunch, again I have made this at home before, and I was happy to find out that what we made was very similar to what you get here. Service was fast so if you are hungry, this is the perfect place to go if you are in the neighborhood. Their bathroom and sink area were very clean.

    Really good Malaysian brunch ! We got the curry chicken, kaya toast, the pandan chicken, and the mee goreng for three people. I also ordered an iced salted bek-kopi. This was a solid amount of food for the price. My favorite protein was definitely the pandan chicken. It was a little bit like a chicken meatball that had a slightly sweet flavor. The chili sauce it came with made it a really nicely balanced sweet and spicy flavor. The Mee Goreng was another favorite because of the spice and tofu. The curry chicken was good and cooked well. The Kaya Toast was a nice sweet element to the meal. There is so much pandan flavored cream in there and it wasn't too sweet. The salted bek-kopi coffee was also a steal. For $7 it was one of the bigger coffees I've had in NYC. It was a white coffee so it wasn't meant to be a super strong espresso flavor. I was worried the salt would overpower the drink but it was a perfect balance between that and the condensed milk. We came on a Saturday late morning and it wasn't super busy when we got there but started to pick up during normal lunch hours. There are plenty of tables and the inside is larger than you would think.

    4 stars for delicious kaya butter toast that had a good serving of kaya and a good lightweight coconut flavor. Would recommend if you're looking for fresh kaya toast. I also was excited to try the kopi and ordered the iced bek kopi. Honestly, this one was a let down for me as I was expecting a more potent coffee taste even after thoroughly mixing. I saw on here maybe the hot version is better so I'm hoping to come back to try other kopi drinks and the other signature malaysian dishes. Counter service so ordering is quick. The staff are friendly and always happy to chat about the food. I came in around lunch on a weekday and they had plenty of seating which I really appreciated.

    Kaya toast is thicc and so good! Other items were good too but not so memorable. It's not a typical restaurant where you sit and order and have waiters bring you food. It's kind of like a fast casual place. You order at the counter and pay there. Then you sit down with a number and they bring the food to your table. After you finish eating, you have to clean up after yourself. Kinda confusing whether or not I had to tip. Good hangout spot.

    Cute place with a fun expansive menu. There is limited seating but we managed to find a spot at the bar. I got the special fish ball soup bee tai bak, which had noodles in it. Very simple, quite filling, a little pricey. The sauce that came with it added more flavor, but I was looking for more savory elements. Still yummy and a fun vibe on a Friday, I'd try the butter toast or a rice dish instead next time. A little odd they have you pay with Venmo but it was fine.

    This was on my way to get my leather jacket repaired, so I stopped by for a bite mid afternoon on a weekday. It was not busy, as it usually is when I had walked by at other times. I sat at a communal table where a couple was already seated. I pkaced my order at the counter and the brought dish when to my table. I had the fish balls in broth, and was pleasantly surprised that it differed from what I had in Chinese restaurants. It felt home made, and warmed my insides on an autumn day. Nice.

    I'm glad I finally got to try Kopitiam! It has a cool, casual, down-to-earth vibe which pairs really well with its comforting Malaysian dishes! Here's what I got: Nasi Lemak ($12): This is the national dish of Malaysia and a part of Kopitiam's all-day breakfast menu (side note: way more places need to be doing all-day breakfast, like, what a gap in the market), so I was excited to try it! I enjoyed the flavors, but the textures were a bit off for me, specifically the fried anchovies. They were kind of in between crunchy and chewy, such that they didn't meld well with the rest of the items. I think the value is great, and it's a well-rounded dish, but I would love for the anchovies to either be fully crunchy (like the fried peanuts) or chewy/meaty. Curry Puff ($4.50): I've actually been waiting for years to try this curry puff. I read a review raving about them when I came to New York a couple of years ago, but they were sold out by the time I came! So this time was redemption. The puff was solid! I enjoyed the flaky texture and flavorful filling. I don't think it can live up to the hype of thinking about it for 2+ years, but I'd recommend it. Honeycomb Cake ($7): I've also been wanting to try a cake like this for years. I've seen so many on social media, and the texture looks absolutely divine. It was great! The texture was bouncy and moist, and the really long crumb was simply fun. It was not too sweet, of course. There wasn't a distinct flavor per sé, but I'd agree with what their menu says: "toffee and caramel notes". It definitely had those. All in all, I think Kopitiam was solid. The next time I visit, it would be worthwhile to have a meat dish and certainly more of the snacks and sweets. The value is good, and it's awesome to have Malaysian food in the States, so if any of that sounds interesting, give it a go!

    I'm picky about my Malaysia food, having grown up with the good stuff. Kopitiam always seemed to garner mixed reviews at best, so I kind of avoided the spot until recently, when a friend wanted to meet her new long distance beau and he picked Kopitiam to be judged, juried and (potentially) executed. I wish I could say we had a merry time, but it was a weird night. Mostly because HE was weird.....and brand new to Malaysian food, which made it just so much more painful for me (I hate playing tour guide/translator when I haven't offered to do so). But I digress. You didn't come here for my tea. You came for tea on Kopitiam. The good: - Kaya Butter Toast: Properly thick and large, with tons of delicious kaya - Nasi Lemak: Of course I've had better in the motherland, but for NYC, this hit all the right notes of coconut rice, plenty of ikan bilis, and tasty a sambal - Pan Mee with soup: Could've used more noodles, but the friedn anchovies were popping, and the broth was umami-tastic - Sambal Sauteed Water Spinach: What can I say, Asians just do veggies better. Get this when you need to see some green on your plate - Ondeh Ondeh: Hard to find and definitely worth the effort, so make sure to come early to hedge your bets. Then enjoy that sweet, sweet mochi-like texture with glorious palm sugar filling - Honeycomb Cake: Moist and decadent without being too sweet - Penang-Style Hand-Rolled Muah Chee: Made to order, but worth it if you've never experienced the glory of warm ground peanuts and sesame seeds served in chewy pieces. Mmmm, my childhood.... The Okay: - Otak Otak: Spicy grilled fish "quiche", but not quite aromatic enough and a bit dry - Malaysian Style Half Boiled Eggs: I like mine saltier - Oh Chien: Not bad, but needed way more oyster - Pandan Chicken: No pandan flavor + oversalted chicken + dry meat = I regret choosing this as a last-minute add-on All in all, I liked Kopitiam more than I expected. Can't wait to go back without having to entertain a insular white guy who can't use chopsticks just because he's boinking my friend.

    If you love anchovies, order the nasi lemak. It's a taste of home and comfort. I did wish they had a side of curry (meat) to pair with this. Still amazing though. The teh Tarik was "Kao" means strong and I asked for less sweet and it was great. Recommend if you like a little retro type dining experience :)

    This is an amazing little gem of a Malaysian restaurant with a wide selection of snacks and mains. The kaya toast was stuffed with pandan kaya and definitely lived up to expectations. Fishball noodles were also on point & so was the nasi lemak with delicious ikan belis and sambal. They charge for extra sambal but definitely worth it. Small interior where you order at the counter and find your table. Remember to bring cash although they do now take Venmo or Zelle.

    I came in around 9pm and I had called beforehand to make sure they would take my order. I ordered a Mee Goreng and a Kiuh Talam- many of their dishes contain pork lard and while I am flexitarian I do not eat pork. I had really been looking forward to trying this restaurant mainly for the dessert!!! My sister was running late per usual... so while I was waiting for her I had some of the food. I ended up having to take it to go and a restaurant about to close is not a fun place to be because staff is all busy cleaning up. The noodles were OK, the Kiuh Talam was absolutely STELLAR!!! It was labeled as V+ for vegan but tasted of egg. I look forward to trying more of their menu.

    Service: 4/5 Food: 3.5/5 Price: $ (under $20) Coffee shop vibe resto with lots of entree options. Decent amount of seating given the space. That said, you'll probably still have to hunt for a seat given how consistently busy it gets. Leans a little too hard into the hawker vibe for the bathroom situation- the paper towels were just sitting on a rung on a ladder. Despite the extensive menu (which you can find online), the food is only alright. I would only recommend coming here for drinks + small bites/snacks. I think you could get better entrees elsewhere. What I Ordered: - Kaya Toast: thicker toast + more filling than what I'm used to, more custardy than jammy, slightly sweet, bread was dry - Tok Tok Mee: slightly dry char siu, dense crispy wontons, good bouncy noodles with just a pool of soy sauce at the bottom - Hainanese Chicken Rice: overcooked chicken, dry rice - Pandan Chicken: sweet, well flavored + pure protein, which I approve - Nasi Lemak: anchovy heavy + very fishy, would not rec for those unfamiliar

    Kopitiam is such a gem! The kaya toast was absolutely delicious--perfectly crispy with just the right balance of sweetness and richness. Everything felt authentic and comforting. Can't wait to come back and try more from the menu!

Despite it not having much weight to it, it traveled surprisingly well as I took it home on my three train commute! Similar to what others have said, the real highlight of the shop, in my opinion, are their cream puffs. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the outer layer was thin yet had a nice little crunch to it. We tried the classic milk, cookies & cream pistachio and ube flavors. Our favorite was the pistachio by far, which had such a unique yet decadent flavor and our second favorite was the milk cream puff. There's not much else I can say other than you really have to go here and try the desserts yourself. If you're a fan of Japanese desserts that are rich yet not too sweet, you'll be a fan of Keki.

After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.
