Oysters Rockerfeller, Alligator bites and Calamari
Vicki S.

Tracy and I went to Detroit to see Cardi B we went to Fishbones to eat. We love appetizers so we got Calamari, Alligator bites and Oysters Rockafellar!! Oh yum!! Fishbones is a beautiful restaurant located near the Anthenium Hotel where we stayed...service was impeccable! Our bartender/waitress was Johnny on spot and drinks were awesome!! A must go to if you are in Detroit.

Heard good things about this place. We decided to split a shrimp po boy and get bowls of gumbo. Place is beautiful. Ate at the bar. Service was great and so was the food. Recommend the Ya Ya gumbo.

This location is a bit hard to get to. There is construction all around it and some roads are closed off on the side of the restaurant. Once inside, it has a nostalgic feel but also is big and open with plenty of seating. The service was lovely for our group of 4, our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. We tried the coconut shrimp and you get a lot of small shrimp which was nice. I tried the jambalaya was good but could have been a bit more spicy.

This place is HUGE! I was a bit weary, due to some other reviews but I am so glad we went. Jessica was our server and she was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful! I got the braised short rib and it was perfect. A nice portion too, giving me leftovers. Pricey, but SO worth it. My husband got, étouffée, seafood gumbo and jambalaya. He loved the jambalaya the most, and the others were not too bad, he said he wished he would've gotten a larger jambalaya portion since it was so tasty. We would absolutely come here again if we ever make our way back to Detroit.

Went here opening day 4/4/25. It was an average experience. The management should've been better. All the food was cool. Drinks were fine. I loved my deep eddys lemon drop. Was disappointed that they didn't have the chicken & sausage gumbo. Especially after I had sat there waiting once ordered it. Thats the only reason i went there in the first place. The catfish poboy was pretty nice. The staff was polite. Drinks, silverware & Food took a lil long to come out. The waitress messed up the bills twice. Was surprised that they started yelling we are closed when 11pm marked the clock. They rushed their tables to exit. That was not ok! Is this a restaurant or a club? We are all adults... It was Very unprofessional & uncomfortable.

Fishbones Rhythm Kitchen Cafe (West) was the recent dinner destination in Southfield. It had been a long time since I dined here. Probably not since the national pandemic shutdown. It is great to see they survived the storm when many restaurants closed their businesses. My book club gathered in their French Quarter private dining room. Everything was nicely setup for us to dine and discuss our book selection. The mounted television also played soft music for us. Our book club host hand everything prepared for us in advance. Our food selection for the evening was chosen and setup by our server. She was excellent! She was also very accommodating for two members that were doing the Daniel Fast by bringing them baked potatoes and veggies. Our spread was excellent and plentiful! We had catfish beignets with remoulade sauce, chicken, Orleans pasta, garden salad, and bread followed by chocolate cake. Our beverage options were in our room and anyone wanting a cocktail could go order one at the bar in the restaurant. The surprise of the evening was the live music which is there every Saturday night. The music was great! Just note the private room is not sound proof so you are definitely going to hear the band. I would love to comeback to really enjoy the band! PSA (posted signs): 18% gratuity is added to all guest checks and 20% for parties of 10 or more; No separate checks for parties of 6 or more. All guests in your party must be present before being seated.

The food was good quality and surprisingly the rolls were decent prices. The waitress was really nice and made sure we had everything we needed. They had a live performer singing on stage in the main dining area and a cool looking atrium.

This is the third time I got scammed from this restaurant. I used to consider this my little slice of New Orleans in Detroit... my favorite spot to end a night out. One of my favorite things to do is order a plate of oysters on my walk home after a night out. Typically it's $20 or so. Tonight it was $60. I had no idea I would be charged that. I come here so often, I was sure it was just going to be $20 or so... so I didn't even ask to see a menu, and I got charged $60. So when I got home I looked up the menu just to check the price... a plate of oysters is still $20 or so according to the menu, but I got charged $60 tonight. I just ordered plain oysters with lemon, not the oysters Rockefeller like the screenshot shows. But the fact the fancy oysters are $20 on this menu, and I was charged $60 for plain oysters with a lemon... I will never be back again, this restaurant is dishonest.

Half rack smoked ribs with spicy bbq

Food and drink were pretty mediocre. Spicy bbq smoked rack of ribs were tough and the sauce was very ketchup-heavy taste and low on spice. Steamed broccoli were cold. Margarita made from cheap mix that tasted of sour Gatorade. Only positives were the music and the service from Patrick who was friendly and responsive.

We had a limited time to be here since we had reservations next door, but we were able to pit in a quick order for some dumplings and we ordered the lamb and mushroom ones and were wanting more. I cannot wait to come back here to come specifically for this place.

Things were great until they weren't. As another reviewer, my friend, mentioned in her review we…read morehad a not so great experience with the general manager. I've been going to Ima since they opened. Me and my mom would often frequent and most recently I introduced my friend who just moved here from LA. It's quickly become one of our favorite spots but the interaction turned altercation we had with the GM was unnecessarily hostile and rude. After 2.5 hours of dining, and I do mean dining not just sitting as we had just finished our second dessert (big back activities) and drinks, we were asked to leave because they needed the table. Her delivery was a little curt and there were several tables empty but whatever. My friends were a bit put off by the interaction and one made mention of how we just ordered more food to which the GM makes a abrupt turn to come a rude reply, "You've been here 2.5 hours and we only allow people to sit for 1.5 hours. And we need the table, that's why!" If that was her attempt to answer our question, smooth things over or redeem herself, FAIL! Regardless of how she felt about OUR conversation, it was a private convo amongst ourselves that she should have never inserted herself into. She was walking away. We were not talking to her, nor were we rude or unruly. On the way out my friend approached her to let her know her approach was rude and unprofessional and that's when it really got ugly. I didn't catch the whole exchange but ultimately we were told to leave and we're not welcome all because the GM was given professional constructive criticism. My friend never once raised her voice of got hostile. I truly felt like the GM had some personal issues that she elected to take out on us. Which is never ok. All of our waitstaff were pleasant. And honestly if our being at the table was an issue, it really should have come from our waitress. I'm sure her delivery would've been much better. The GM has 0 customer service skills, 0 accountability and clearly doesn't handle criticism well. As much as I love Ima I'd really never want to come back with how embarrassingly rude and poorly we were treated. Food: Spicy Pork Ramen, Pork Belly Skewer, & Steak Skewer 10/10. Spicy Bok Choy 3/10, spice is there but lacks in flavor.
