The Egg n I has received a massive upgrade! After 14 years, its parent company, First Watch, has stepped in and taken my old standby Sunday bfast spot, and given its menu, food quality, and service, a huge overhaul!!! For the St. George local, I highly recommend giving this "Egg n I - 2.0" an honest try if its predecessor was a staple dining option of yours. Take it from me, who dined with the old spot regularly for so many years, THIS version is WAY better. The food is sourced more responsibly and much more fresh than you'd expect. The food tastes like there are active competent chefs in the kitchen, and it looks more alive and vibrant; the flavors more identifiable and forward. I have found myself craving it daily and have returned multiple days in a row, just to try something new each day. Excellent service despite being short staffed. Egg sandwich was excellent and they allowed substitution of whole wheat bread rather than the brioche bun. Belgian waffle was perfectly crispy while not being dry. Pumpkin doughnut holes with the two dips is worth the calories. Visiting the area, rather than go to chain restaurants for lunch, we opted for a something different. So very glad we did; ordered a Morning Meditation juice which was amazing!! My husband and I shared a soup and the roast beef & havarti sandwich, which was delicious! We were there on Thursday around noon; no wait, great service. I was so impressed with the manager on duty who I observed while I waited for my order; he was engaged with seating people, taking/delivering orders and whatever else was necessary to keep customers happy. You could tell he kept his eye on everything and kept things moving at a great pace for customers. They use a website to "get in line". We called first thing in the morning. They said zero wait, however if we wanted to we could put our name and be first on the list. We arrived 10 minutes later. Walked in to let them know we were here. However the hostess was talking to the people behind us in line because they had a smaller party. After 15 minutes of the hostess getting everyone else seated in front of us. Then she said they were getting our table ready. Then a party of 10 Walked in and they sat them before us. Right behind the hostess there was an open table. The hostess just kept saying they were getting it ready. 1 hour later we finally sat down. Regardless of what happens from there good food or not. Loved this when it was the Egg and I, and although the menu was changed somewhat under new ownership, with some favorites no longer available, the interior and staff kept us coming back. Usually for breakfast, or Sunday lunch. However the pandemic has kept us away so don't know how it is currently, but still see a fair amount of customers some days. A sweet lady gave us a our food but it was the wrong meal. When we went to get the right meal, another server helped us. She was RUDE. When we asked if we could sit inside. Went in for a quick lunch, as I was very hungry and it was my first time at a first watch restaurant. My server Teala was very helpful guiding me through the menu and helping me look for vegetarian options. She was also very friendly with prompt service which was great because I was short on time. My son and I went for the first time to try it out based on all the good reviews. I have to be more careful with reviews from now on. First of all, they made us wait for 30 minutes to seat. I understand this happens from time to time, but I saw empty tables for goodness sakes!! I asked the hostess who was a little rude and not very friendly why I see open tables. Instead of apologizing for this, she gave that "worker shortage" excuse. It seems like restaurants are thriving on this excuse for poor service. STOP SAYING THIS!! And if that were enough, we had to wait another 40 minutes for our food!! Crazy! My son was not happy! The food was good but not great. It left my stomach feeling nauseous the rest of the day, which usually means that the people who prepared my food were unsanitary or something was wrong with my food. The waitress was not very good either. I barely saw her and she didn't even apologize for the long wait for our food. I also asked for a booth and they didn't give us one. Mannnnnn where to start here? Tricked by all of these yelp reviews, we popped in here for brunch. Following a 45 min wait for food, we started asking questions. In all sorts of surly glory, the waitress said the kitchen was backed up which "wasn't her fault". It's actually not mine either, or maybe it is for picking this place. When food arrived (an hour into the adventure), sides were wrong and some things just didn't show up until we asked. Side of surly was still available though. Then we got a check, as they continued seating tables while telling people food could take 45 min (seriously, stop seating people). What a disappointment! This location formerly operated as the Egg & I and was a popular St George landmark. Gone from the menu are many favorites including Strawberry Banana Waffles, Crab Benedict, and real pork patty sausage. Food quality has dropped off the proverbial cliff. The coffee is bitter, waffles are soggy and thin, eggs are not cooked properly, very few fruit options, reduced portions -the list goes on. Basically the new limited menu lacks taste and quality. Combine this with the fact their prices have increased an average of 20%, and you have a recipe for disaster. Our breakfast for 2 used to average $24 - it is now $30. The new operation appears to be an accounting ploy to increase profits at the expense of quality and price. read more

We received an invitation to their soft opening today. They were packed and we were told the wait was up to 45 minutes. It ended up only being about 25 minutes... they were rocking it out! Our order came out super fast and everything was spot on and delicious! I had the lemon ricotta pancakes which were amazing!! Super light and fluffy and the lemon curd was just the right combination of sweet and sour, and topped with fresh strawberries. The sausage links were huge and the bacon cooked just right! I tried a bite of someone else's eggs and they were great too! The coffee was wonderful.... a huge improvement from the last time we dined there (when it was The Egg and I). Looked like a great place for breakfast. It was a little loud but we could manage. We sat there for 10 minutes before anyone came to our table. It was not our server but she took the drink and food order. She apologized to another server and told her that she will just put our order in. However this time while paying the cashier, the older gentleman with the light colored hair (not sure if he's a busser or what) came up to me and said "$10,000 question- would you wear that shirt in front of your father? Cause I'd scream if I saw my daughter wearing that."
