First timer here. Wanted something we haven't tried before since we live in Vegas & we visit St. George often. Came across this place on Yelp & decided to check it out. Lots of options for lunch here. Burgers, sandwiches, salads, they got it all. I tried the chicken cali sandwich which was pretty good. Lots of flavor, a little bit spicy, and I could sing praises about the sourdough bread. The chicken breast itself was a thick chunk of meat - kind of dry and a bit hard to chew. That was 100% a 5 star burger. Coming from California we just needed a fast place to eat and we found this gem. It was close to closing and they still took us in. The guy at the register was so nice and helpful! He also gave great recommendations! I got the Italian burger and it was literally delicious! The pastrami was so tender and they were not skimpy! I also LOVE sauté mushrooms and they piled them on! The fries were extra crispy and the secret sauce they gave us was great! I loved that the inside was very decorated and they support local artists! Great spot for a cheat meal. Found this place looking on the Yelp app for a late lunch spot. The menu has burgers, breakfast burritos, a few salads, and fries, onion rings, milkshakes - the kind of spot for a splurge. The dining room is lined by displays of local artisan crafts available for sale. We arrived around 2PM and ordered, and it got surprisingly busy. Two adults and a toddler shared the Philly burger with fries, the chipotle burrito (without jalapenos), and a side of onion rings. Staff seemed overwhelmed and the dining room was full of dirty tables, they didn't come around often to wipe them down. The same lack of attention to detail seemed to impact our food. The grilled vegetables on the burger were very oily, the burrito was bland despite the plethora of ingredients and no salsa was available/offered, and onion rings were soggy. That being said, the burger was a good size and tasty combination of flavors, the fries are the lightly battered style we really enjoyed and paired well with their fry sauce, and my toddler devoured half the burrito. They have potential but quality and consistency might be better when they're less busy. Pro Tip: they have a QR code to scan at the register for free scone fries. When I joined it instead gave me a $5 off coupon that I was immediately able to use and appreciated. The next day another deal was emailed out, which is a nice touch to bring people back in. read more

Thursdays are the day to go! They had an awesome deal with the iconic burger and a fry only being $8! A delicious smash burger with the best brioche buns. My husband tried the Philly (it's huge!) and we were treated to a small sampling of scone fries which were tasty and not to be missed if you like a scone! Going through my review drafts and realized I hadn't hit publish...this was from October 5, 2020 (yeah, I still have photos on my phone from that long ago, even longer ....). Burger and fries came out fast, too fast. The patty was already cooked :( Food and check brought out at same time but not my shake. :( I had to ask for it. My husband and I were visiting St. George recently and decided to give Morty's Cafe a try. The staff was friendly and very accommodating, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the food was a bit of a letdown for us. I ordered the bourbon pork salad. It was fairly basic, and I was a little disappointed by the small amount of pork. The carrots weren't pickled, there was no cheese, and the pieces of pork I did get were on the fatty side. I also ordered a side of onion rings, and those were actually very good. My husband ordered the Lil Buddha with sweet potato fries. He was also a bit disappointed with the tofu patty, but the texture was very soft and it kind of oozed out of the bun when he took a bite. Fantastic! The Morty's burger is an amazing little slider! When they ask if you'd like to add bacon, ADD THE BACON! They don't skimp on the bacon. Everything my party had was fabulous and the staff was super friendly. Such a great little spot and convenient to everything St. George. read more

During our recent visit to Utah, we found ourselves going back and forth between LaVerkin and St. George. My food rule when traveling is to not at chain restaurants, especially if they are also in my hometown. After researching Yelp for places to try, we settled on Morty's based upon pictures and reviews. Well, our experience was subpar. I ordered the Mortician with no bun and added an extra egg. It was just ok. The beef patties lacked flavor and could have benefited from a dash of salt. My lady had the quinoa salad and added chicken. The quinoa itself was good but the chicken was very dry and had an old taste. Service was so so. We ordered at the register counter and they asked if it was our first time there. After that there was no follow-up to ask how our experience was. We definitely would have told them about the chicken. The decor is pretty cool we admired how the place supports local artists by having items on display available to purchase. Personally, we would not choose to go back. It has jalapeños, but I ordered them on the side, because I'm a lightweight. ;) My new favorite Hawaiian (teriyaki-style) burger! I also ordered onion rings and reg fries, and dipped them in the pineapple/jalapeño relish that had fallen out of the burger - a must when you get this burger! Service was great. This is a good spot for a quick and casual meal in St. George! We ordered our food to-go, and the restaurant had our entire order ready in a very reasonable timeframe. Everything was correct when we picked it up. My husband got the Mortician with onion rings. He said his onion rings were perfectly crispy and he really enjoyed his burger. He noted that it was definitely on the heavier side, with two patties, bacon, and pastrami. My husband mentioned he wouldn't order it again unless he was as starving as he was when we visited this place. I got the California with fries. My fries were also perfectly crispy! My sandwich was really tasty. My only complaint was the fact that the ingredients had a hard time sticking together, so my sandwich kept falling apart. Although it tasted great, I'll probably order something else next time. My milkshake was so good! The ice cream was thick and rich, and the addition of oreo pieces topped it all off! It's a create-your-own type of milkshake situation, and I'm definitely here for it. I went to Morty's because of all the wonderful reviews. The pictures of the food and the inside of the restaurant looked great, but that was not my experience. The person who took my order seemed like he was not enjoying his job. No smile, no greeting just a quick "what can I get you". I know that it is a new trend for fast food restaurants to have you pay/tip up front as you order but I feel like it needs to be called out. Especially since the only service they have provided so far is taking your order... and not in a friendly way. I feel the tip should be earned by providing service. Morty's does not offer service once they deliver food. You need a refill, napkins, condiments? You're on your own. After placing my order and looking for a table it was difficult to find a clean one. Customers clear off their table when they are done, but there wasn't anyone wiping tables down, in fact the entire place looked like it was being neglected. The art that is for sale was all to one side and the walls had patches all over. The plants were very stressed. Maybe they are going through a transition of some kind? I ordered the Iconic burger with onion rings which was okay, definitely not iconic. Looking at past reviews and pics, I think they have the potential to be really good. Morty's is an eclectically artistic haven that sports a well thought out menus to meet a variety appetites. It is simple and unassuming on the outside, but is warm, colorful, and friendly inside. There is a great variety of burgers, grilled sandwiches, refreshing salads, milkshakes, breakfast items, and coffee selections. We had burgers, a Ruben, and I tried the Das Frik'n Burger which could have held it's own with the stack of ingredients, but I added pastrami and pineapple relish and it was dad frik'n awesome burger. We also had some beignet bites to top off our meal and it was a great way to share a tasty treat. We get to St. George on a regular bass and we'll be back to try more. read more

They do have gluten-free burger buns even though it's not on the menu. You just have to ask. I got the mortician on gluten-free which the menu didn't say it had onion rings on it. Luckily I could easily pick them off but for someone who is super sensitive or celiac, you wouldn't want to get that one. Other than that it was super delicious. read more

The inside is kind of cool with art work displayed on the back counters. They also sell Kelsey made by a local resident. The staff is friendly and serves your food to your table. The French fries are warm and crispy. Made fresh. They are the perfect texture and crunch on the outside. I ordered the Hawaiian Burger. Not the biggest fan. It's wet from all the sauces they add. My trip to Zion ended up at Morty's Cafe, and it was absolutely fantastic! The food looks and tastes delicious. They have the best burgers !! I tried the kimchi burger, I've tried kimchi burger before, but this one, you definitely can taste the kimchi very clear.... it was perfect in one word. The service is something that they need to work on, even on communication between each other. We had a little issue, and I had to keep reminding them. Meanwhile, it should've been taken care of by the first server, who was a female, and then pretended that we did not discuss it with the other server... really disturbing.. Another issue was surprisingly the place didn't have anything to drink except water and the same female server acted like shi didn't know about .... very immature way of her treating the customers. As I mentioned earlier, the burgers were bomb in one word , and it's sad that I have to give only 3 stars because of the server. read more

Wasn't impressed. The guy taking my order was not friendly or helpful at all while ordering. Maybe because there were ONLY 2 GUYS WORKING. The same two guys were taking the orders, cooking the food, and delivering the orders, which explains why the food took a long time to arrive. I get it, they were tired, that's no excuse for the no smile, no help with the menu etc. I was ordering my sandwiches with fries and decided to ask if the fry's were included. He said no. So I said no fries with the third sandwich then. When I looked at the menu, the menu says "small fries are included with each sandwich"! When the sandwiches arrived, sure enough, one of the sandwiches didn't have fries only because the guy told me that fries were not included so I said to not put them on the third sandwich, even though the menu said fries are included.
