We had breakfast here this morning. We were a party of 17! Not an easy task, but the staff at First Watch could not have been more accommodating. They allowed us to call ahead and had a table ready for us within 8 minutes of our targeted time. WOW!!! Very impressive. Not only that all our dishes were served within a minute or so of each other. The breakfast and lunch dishes were wonderful and hot! Great coffee and it will certainly be a place to revisit. We met relatives that were down from up North for a wedding. Where to go to brunch? Killer pancakes omelets yum. It's def worth a try. This place has a fantastic breakfast/brunch menu. There's outdoor seating. Lots of windows and lights. Very pleasant service and atmosphere. The menu has a variety of options ranging from the usual breakfasty things to more interesting options (quinoa breakfast bowl). Also, just say no to fake syrup. Oh, how beautiful this place was! I've been to at least 3 other locations and this was my favorite. I have always had a warm place in my heart for First Watch, because it was my dad's favorite spot. Breakfast joints were his thing, so you can trust that his choice says a lot. This location was big and bright, without being impersonal. The crowd was older, but nonetheless, very friendly. This part of town in general, is that way. The downtown Sarasota location is great -always has been- but I think I would actually go out of my way to visit this one instead. read more

Our favorite place! We go weekly for breakfast/lunch. Service is always great and friendly. We use no wait/yelp to put our name in ahead of time and skip the wait. We love the millionaire's bacon, my husband always gets the trifecta (prefers cinnamon chip pancakes but they're seasonal...we wish they were always in the menu), I mix it up and have had pretty much everything on the menu. I've honestly never had anything I didn't like (maybe the biscuits and turkey gravy because it's a healthier version and not the traditional type). read more

First Watch is a reliably delicious as they come. I meet a friend there every Monday morning for breakfast overlooking the little lake. The coffee is a little bitter, the way my friend loves it, and we have our favorite morning dishes. I have been a patron at this restaurant for many years, and have always thought highly of the chain and this specific location, but things have only improved recently with the healthier menu options and fresh décor. I usually have the avocado toast, or a veggie omelet, and split a blueberry pancake with the table for the "sweet tooth!" First time here and will be the last and not because we're just passing through. If I lived in the area, I wouldn't frequent this restaurant again. First the menu, it's seems very posh and eclectic. However, the only thing enjoyable was the "million dollar bacon". It took sooooo long to be seated. Mostly because it was a packed house. Then it took a while for our food to come after we ordered. We ordered Traditional Breakfast, which consisted of two eggs,, cooked to order, seasoned potatoes and your choice of meat and toast. I ordered my eggs over medium. My husband ordered the Biscuits with Turkey sausage gravy and eggs prepared the same way as mine. He asked about the potatoes and the server said they are preseasoned with onions and my husband said oh yeah I can't do onions do you have any other potatoes. Our waitress was clearly annoyed by his statement and said you can pick the onions out. Ummm no, that's not how it works. When everything finally arrived, it was cold and our eggs were seriously over cooked. The sausage gravy tasted like wet dog food. If it were hot on arrival, it may have been better. The biscuit was dry and tasted like it was a coupe days old. When our waitress asked how we like everything, I simply stated "it was mediocre at best and our eggs are cold and over cooked". She asked if I would like a new order and I said "no we really don't have time for that". Again she was clearly offended. A few minutes later, she came back and did like a "drive" bye and said "my manager is picking up your bill". My husband and I just looked at each other like what just happened. First that has never happened to us before. Second, that wasn't our intention. Third, she could have been much nicer about telling us that. What happened to coming to a table and apologizing discreetly and letting one know that they'll pick up the tab. Second, why not offer other potatoes options? What if one has an onion allergy??!!! I came in the other day around lunchtime. I was with a group that had a lot of dietary restrictions. The server was very helpful and showed us which items we could eat. They had multiple dairy free and vegan items on the menu. They also had a seasonal menu that looked amazing. I ordered carrot cake pancakes. If anyone is thinking about trying them, please do. They were absolutely amazing! Probably the best pancakes I've had in a long time. Someone I was with had the açaí bowl, and it was delicious. They had so many amazing menu options. Had an interesting experience here at lunch today. We both ordered the Pecan Dijon salad as an entrée. One of them came with a 2-3 inch bone buried In it. What might have resulted in major dental problems was fortunately averted. When the server came back to the table we gave it to her. She promptly took it back to the kitchen and apparently showed it to the manager. Both were appalled and embarrassed; as a result, lunch was comped for the entire table. While their reaction and the comping were appropriate, I can tell you that that does not always happen...too often I've experienced and read about the reaction being "I'm sorry and I'll let the kitchen know," and that's it. The staff's handling of this situation created an air of "good will" that will generate repeated visits and word-of-mouth retelling of the episode (to the restaurant's advantage). read more

My partner and I are regulars. The service is great and all the employees are very nice. Sometimes there is a wait ( at most15 minutes). The only negative thing during the wait is when I want to sit and a grumpy old man or woman will not make room for me, when there is plenty of space. We eat at this location once every couple of months and it is always excellent! My favorite item on the menu was removed (Key West Crepegg) but they are always willing to make it when I request it. I had the worst meal ever from first watch. It was the steak florentine . Everything was dry tasted like it had been stored in a refrig. Overnight and warmed up. Stake tasted more like liver . Death by renovation. This was a favorite of mine. Friendly, comfortable seating, outdoor area, decent food. And then...renovations started months ago and have never been completed. Worse, when they are completed this will be a very unpleasant restaurant. The new layout appears to double the number of seats, so it is crowded. The new chairs are uncomfortably hard. The surfaces of their new "barn-look" decor are also hard so the noise level is now high; even the waitresses complain. In a competitive breakfast market like Sarasota, these moves are suicidal. read more

We loved this location! We regularly visited the Main Street downtown location when we were Sarasota residents and found that it was a little less enjoyable each time we went. This newer location down south was so nice. Plenty of space and we enjoyed the big paintings on the walls. It was a rainy morning, so we didn't sit outside but it seemed it would be a great place to sit on a beautiful day. The food was all very good. I ordered the parm hash and the new iced coffee. So delicious and great tasting coffee! Usually ordering iced coffee from a non coffee shop is a mistake because it's so weak and overly sweet, but this was different. Strong, a little creamy with just the right amount of sweetness! Our 4 yr old son loved the chocolate chip pancake. When they put it on the table he screamed, "that is the biggest pancake I ever saw"! lol I don't remember what my husband ordered, but he enjoyed a grilled blueberry muffin after his meal, as always. :-) Thank you for a lovely breakfast on our last day in town! read more

Great Breakfast / Lunch option in southern Sarasota area. I had the Parma Skillet - kids had Chocolate Pancakes. Parma Skillet was a very original and excellent breakfast dish. I found it to be too small of a portion. Luckily the kids pancakes were HUGE and they needed help to even come close to finishing them. Service was spotty. Our server was poor, but we could see that the other servers were much more engaging and attentive. If it wasn't for the poor service we would have rated it five stars. We will likely go back during our next vacation to Sarasota. read more
