Continues to be one of my south county dining spots for fresh breakfast or lunch at an extremely reasonable price. The service is consistent and the owner presences and welcoming nature always adds a touch of feeling like you are part of the family. The omelettes options are great, so if you don't see it on this huge menu, ask, the chef is very nice and will add that avocado to the omelet. The coffee is hot and servers are sure to pass by an refill your cup. I have been here for both meal options, inside and outside dining is excellent and parking is ample. A hidden little gem right behind the West Coast Black Theatre, this place is can't miss for sandwich lovers. This is my 2nd time and this go-around I got the Uptown Turkey sandwich with a side of Macaroni Salad. The Macaroni Salad was like nothing I have ever had before! Whatever sauce they use in it was nice. Although not a big avocado fan, which I overlooked when I was ordering helped make the sandwich. The avocado was subtle enough that it didn't overpower the sandwich, it actually complemented it. I also liked how they do a shorter "diced" bacon slice versus longer bacon slices. Finally found an authentic, delicious Cuban sandwich in the Sarasota area! As other yelpers have mentioned, the location/building for this cafe is a bit sketchy, but don't let that keep you from going in. Just know their posted hours are somewhat limited: 10:30 am - 3:00 pm Monday through Friday. On our first visit here, we observed what appeared to be a large catering order being prepared by several employees in their kitchen and being carried out to a car for delivery. We also observed several folks showing up at the order window to pick up their to-go orders. There was one person having lunch onsite in their dining area located in the back. We ordered two sandwiches, the pressed Cuban & the egg salad with lettuce and tomato, as well as a salad (don't recall the name, but refer to the pic). For sides, we opted for the homemade tri-color rotini salad and homemade macaroni salad. All was wrapped/taped well for carryout which I always appreciate! The sandwiches were soooo good, we returned the very next day for another pressed Cuban. We also tried the crab bisque which was a soup of the day and quite delish! Very good sandwich The people seemed very nice and my Pressed Italian sandwich was very good, the place not so much. It was my first visit and I too have been reluctant to make the trip. I shouldn't have waited. It looked like they do a good business, almost all of the 10 tables in the dining room were occupied and others were picking up takeout. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. I got the 12 inch sandwich, a small container of potato salad as my side, and a small drink, all for just under $10. I sat in the dining room, an orange and red look that was not bright. I overheard another customer that was reporting problems with the restrooms. Reggy (the owner) was mindful of our dietary restriction and worked with me to make sure everyone was able to eat what they ordered. We eat a lot of Jimmy Johns, Panera and other chain sandwich restaurants when we travel so it was a nice change to be able to support a local business and get a quality lunch! I grade them all on the same scale regardless of price, and I'm happy to say that this place ranks near the top. "So why then did you give it 4 stars and not the ever sought after 5?" I was a little hesitant going in, since the outside makes it look more like an older apartment complex rather than a restaurant, but I'm glad I stopped by! It is really popular for to-go orders, but they do have a seating area with a few tables to sit and enjoy their delicious sandwiches. Don't let the location or the outside appearance fool you. Maximillian's is by far my favorite place to go for lunch in all of Sarasota / Bradenton. In fact, a coworker and I drive 30 minutes all the way from Lakewood Ranch to go here, because the food is that good! Everything on the menu is delicious, you really can't go wrong with anything as all of the ingredients are fresh while being of high quality. I usually order their Apple Walnut Salad and it is by far the most delicious salad I've ever had. Reggie and his team set a new standard of quality for me, which nobody else has been able to reach at this price point. Another awesome thing worth noting is the customer service. Everyone is always so happy, polite, and super friendly there. If you go a couple times they will even remember your name and favorite menu items. Not easy to find. Don't be intimidated by the front of the restaurant. You line up in front and order. You then sit in the back and wait for them to bring ur food or you get it to go (a lot of people were doing that ). The dining area is pretty basic-Orange walls with orange tablecloths. Don't expect much for atmosphere. 10 tables. Fill your own drinks. I ordered the pressed Cuban and my husband got the club. Prices are awesome- 20 dollars for two sandwiches, sides and two iced teas. The woman in line ahead of us said the salads are great- she ordered a Greek salad and is definitely a regular. Took about ten minutes to get our food. The food was so good! I loved the Cuban. Bread was good- Cuban bread and the pumpernickel . My husbands club was as good or better than a Wrights deli sandwich. Side of pasta salad was good. I ordered the potato salad- not too much mayonnaise, had a mustard flavor. Yum. I will definitely be back- probably get the club on pumpernickel next time. My favorite is the grilled veggie sub followed up by a warm brownie (I mean, I did eat veggies after all...I deserve a brownie). Salads are substantial and plenty enough for a full meal. I actually came across them on door dash (had never heard of them before but the menu looked good so I thought I would give them a try. I had such a hard time deciding between 2 sandwiches that I just decided to get both and do one for lunch and one for dinner. I am so thankful that I did because they were absolutely delicious. I was so impressed that I wanted to give them a great review and was not shocked to see all of the other people that feel the same. Great reviews, really? The service was very polite, very friendly and they seem like nice people. I saw that everyone was busy working. However, the food was average at best, nothing you could not make at home. I could not help but notice the general lack of cleanliness. When asked if dine in or take out, I opted for dine in, then after peaking into the dining area I optioned for take-out. The tables were clean as well as chairs. It was everything else, the floors, the walls, the ceilings, the A/C vents and so on. It makes you really wonder how sanitary the place is.
