Food was ok. The place is just so dirty. Like gross dirty. Grout grime, flotsam and jetsam all over the floor, black mold sprinkles. The restrooms are grim, I regret having to use them. You always wonder what the kitchen looks like when the restrooms are that bad. The coffee was great. Sadly I was never offered a refill, while I heard refills being offered to those all around me. Sad face emoji.

    Crab cakes were Yummy

Went here for dinner last Friday. The Dinner specials were delicious. Can't wait to go back for breakfast.

We were looking for a breakfast before hitting Lido Beach and ended up in the Blue Dolphin. Place was almost full but we managed to get a booth just before they started taking names for a waiting list. The breakfast menu is standard fare, to be conservative we stuck to the Blue Dolphin special - 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, bacon and home fries. A young man was working the booths and he kept busy taking orders, delivering food and refilling coffee cups. Breakfast came out quickly and it was good. We finished and vacated as the line was growing outside....decent place if you're in St Armand's circle - it's a solid breakfast spot.

We walked into the Blue Dolphin on a Saturday, and it seemed like the perfect spot for brunch. We were seated right away at a booth (for a party of two). The waiter was quick to take our orders. We got corned beef hash, fruit, blueberry pancakes and a breakfast wrap/burrito with home fries. The blueberry pancakes were fantastic! We ate every bite. No crumbs left. The corned beef hash was just okay. It needed to be crisped up a little more. This dish needed improvement. The home fries were perfectly crispy and delicious. The breakfast burrito was solid, and I added some hot sauce to give it an extra kick. We were happy with our meal! It was a good brunch and just what we wanted to start the beach day. I would recommend coming here.

Great breakfast food before or after the beach! Every girls trip we are eating here!! The waffles are the best I have ever had!

Hubby and I visited the cafe on Longboat Key before. They opened another one here at St Armand's Circle. Here, the cafe is a lot smaller. We figured, why not try it? We came here twice for breakfast. We shared the Lox and bagel platter on the first day, plus two eggs and a fruit plate. On the second day, I had the Huevos rancheros, and Hubby had eggs and ham. The breakfast was good, but we both thought the lox and bagel were a joke because of how small the lox was served with the bagel. My Huevos rancheros were ok but lacked some ingredients, such as salsa. However, the overall experience wasn't bad; it was not what we expected compared to the original Blue Dolphins cafe. The service was excellent!

From the moment you walk into the hotel, the vibe is fantastic. Whomever designed the hotel (at least the lobby and restaurant- I can't speak for the hotel rooms) fully embraced the circus theme, but in a sophisticated, chic way. Think bright colors, bold patterns, and fun decorative touches throughout the space. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed. We sat in a semi-circular booth with drapes that could be closed for privacy, though we left them open since we were just enjoying a girls' lunch. For lunch, I ordered the fried fish tacos. The portions were on the smaller side, though I'm not sure if that's because it was lunchtime or if that's the standard serving size. There were three tacos, which ended up being plenty for me. The fish was cooked perfectly, and the pineapple chutney on top was absolutely delicious--just the right balance of sweet and salty flavors. The meal also came with a side of truffle fries, and honestly, I've never met a truffle fry I didn't like. Overall, the service was fantastic, the food was delicious, and the ambiance was outstanding. I'd like to go back to check out the dinner menu one evening. If I do, then I'll update because I'd sure like to give this place the 5 stars that I feel it almost earns.

My wife and I visited this restaurant on Memorial Day for our anniversary because we were craving…read moretacos and wanted a nice rooftop dinner experience. Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived, the entire night was disappointing and honestly ruined what was supposed to be a special evening. When we got off the elevator at the rooftop entrance, there was no host or greeter anywhere in sight. The restaurant itself was dark, mostly empty, and only had one other family dining outside. We stood there awkwardly for several minutes before someone finally acknowledged us and said someone would be with us shortly. A woman eventually came out with menus, but never greeted us, smiled, introduced herself, or spoke beyond seating us. We then waited around 15 minutes just to place our order. There were no menu recommendations, no explanation of dishes, and no basic hospitality whatsoever. I specifically requested NO black beans on my meal. After an extremely long wait for food in a nearly empty restaurant, my plate arrived covered in black beans. I politely mentioned that I had asked for them to be removed, and instead of apologizing, the server responded with an annoyed "ugh, I told them," grabbed the plate aggressively, and walked away. I also asked about the cheese on the tostada because the menu simply said "cheese," which most people would reasonably assume means mozzarella, Mexican blend, queso fresco, etc. Instead, it came covered in crumbled feta cheese, which I do not eat. The server never mentioned it, never asked, and acted irritated when I brought it up. She made a nasty face, ignored me mid-conversation, and walked away. Meanwhile, my wife's food was terrible. Her shrimp tacos were bland and soggy, and the rice tasted like it had been overcooked in water until it turned into mush. While waiting for my corrected plate, I realized they never even brought my rice out at all. After another long wait, my "corrected" meal finally arrived - except instead of simply removing the black beans, they stripped almost everything off the dish. What I got back was basically dry tostadas with chicken and lettuce. No crema, no pico de gallo, no proper toppings, no effort. I tried to ignore it and gave it a chance, one bite only... but the food tasted like it had been cooked in old, dirty oil. The smell and flavor were so bad that I immediately lost my appetite. At that point, I politely told the server that we were just going to leave and asked for the bill. I wasn't asking for free food, discounts, or an argument - I simply wanted to pay and leave peacefully. Instead, she slammed the check down next to me with another attitude-filled expression and walked off. Because of her behavior, I didn't even feel comfortable handing her my card, so I went inside to pay directly with the manager. I calmly explained the situation and expected at least a little empathy or professionalism. Instead, the manager basically told me that if I didn't like the food or service, I should just leave -- "like he would do." That response alone told me everything I needed to know about how this restaurant operates. Not once did anyone apologize sincerely, attempt to fix the situation, offer a replacement, offer dessert, remove an item, or show any interest in customer service. Instead, the staff became defensive, argumentative, and confrontational. I told him that his server was rude and disrespectful as she sat there staring at me, hands on her hip, laughing sarcastically as I explained what happened. That same manager walked from behind the counter and approached me face-to-face aggressively, telling me that "I cannot call the food nasty and if I didn't like it, to pay and leave but to not argue with a woman" while the same woman server continued making comments from behind the counter: "how am I rude? How am I disrespectful? I didn't even talk" (that's my point!) What should have been a simple anniversary dinner turned into one of the worst dining experiences my wife and I have ever had. Terrible service, terrible food, rude staff, poor management, and absolutely zero accountability. We left hungry, frustrated, and shocked at how badly the situation was handled. Would not return and absolutely would not recommend.
