Visited on Dec 27 for a late brunch. The place was understaffed and waitress seemed disengaged and uninterested. The food took a long time to arrive and she never acknowledged the delay. Another, much friendlier waitress did apologize, which we appreciated. We waited too long for the check, even though the restaurant was nearly empty and our waitress was chatting with staff. I have worked in busy restaurants myself, so this level of inattentiveness is not excusable. The food was mediocre and there are plenty of better, healthier options in Sarasota. I was truly unhappy with my visit. When I arrived, I asked the host for a table for two along with a high chair. She kindly informed me that the wait would be approximately 15-20 minutes, which seemed reasonable, so I provided my name and phone number. After about 30 minutes, I checked back in and was told there were still several parties ahead of us. We continued waiting, and it wasn't until roughly 35 minutes later that we were finally seated. We were then greeted by our server, Steven, about 15 minutes after being seated, at which point he took our drink orders. Unfortunately, our drinks did not arrive until about 20 minutes later. When they finally came, he then took our entrée order, but our food didn't arrive until roughly 45 minutes after that. I would love to recommend this place, as this was our second visit and we truly enjoyed our first experience. The food was excellent, and we genuinely enjoy it. However, the service on this visit needs significant improvement. Overall, the amount of waiting throughout the entire experience felt excessive. Had we been given a more accurate expectation of the delays, we likely would have chosen not to stay. read more

Everything runs smoothly at Another Broken Egg even with lots of people waiting to get in and eat. If you don't like waiting for a table then get up early. If not, just leave your name at the hostess stand and you'll be called asap. We were there in the summer and didn't have to wait more than 10 mins for a table for 4. The employees work quickly and efficiently, getting customers in and out. You can choose to sit inside or outside on their large covered patio. All of our dishes came as ordered and we were all very happy with our choices. I ordered a Monterey Power Omelette that was delicious, my only complaint is that the omelette comes with avocado and the avocado slices were not the nicest. They were subpar. I had to wait for a couple of minutes since there was no one up front then I was seated at the bar. I ordered some coffee to start and perused the menu. I decided on the crab cake benedict. Service was quick and friendly. It seemed, there were only 2 wait staff that day so they were both running around a lot but my waitress still had time to check in with me to make sure everything was well and good after my food was delivered. Delicious food but I sadly forgot to snap a photo. Outdoor seating are available here as well. They have heaters for your comfort while dining and since this is located off of the main drag in Siesta Key, you do hear a lot of the background noise from the street. The inside was fairly quiet aside from the normal restaurant bustle. Definitely a nice place for breakfast if you're staying in the village or somewhere nearby. read more

We started our day with breakfast. Been to one of these near where I live, and they have good food, so figured this was a safe bet, and I'm glad I was right. We waited about 20 minutes which is not bad considering their norm is longer. The hubby started with an iced coffee followed by salmon lox sandwich and I had the pancake meal. I knew it would be a lot of food but that's how they feed you. I had their medium roast which was their strongest and some orange juice. We definitely left with full bellies and always a delight. Next up for the wife, eggs Benedict w grilled tomato, eggs poached medium and I got the Louisiana Benedict w andouille and shrimp. Her eggs are beyond not poached. They're runny-r than the Texas democrats leaving the state. Home fries were over fried, I think the fry guy was having a bad morning. And the tomato was present but not the grilled part. Mine you ask? I like my eggs runny but this was a bit much. The andouille still had the casing on and just meh. I also got a side of cold grits. Which was nice. Our food was sensational, the omelette was perfect and I wouldn't change a thing. So this was my first time trying a Bloody Mary, and I was indifferent. The Bloody Mary had amazing flavor, but not sure I loved the spice first thing in the morning. Also, amazing taste and flavor with the chicken and waffles but that chipotle sauce has some heat to it. Making it even more special for me was getting to introduce my now how husband to it almost thirteen years ago the same week we got married on the beach. The food is always delicious and there's a lot of options available for breakfast and lunch. The serve is always great. The team is friendly and on-spot with refreshing drinks. Inside and outside seating options, both are good, but we love outside. There is just such a nice "FL feel" . A cheerful hostess led the way. Within a couple of minutes, I had coffee in their somewhat small but cute coffee cups. For breakfast I tried their The Supreme Omelette, a more traditional sort of omelette with sausage, bacon, onion, mushrooms, and cheese. It was very good, subtle flavor, good size. For my side I had their cubed potatoes. I enjoyed this food while sitting in their large outdoor seating area on a beautiful morning. Most every day is beautiful on Siesta Key. The omelette was toped with a decent amount of lobster and the brie helped give each bite the creamiest consistency. I recently visited Siesta Key after many years. I was so excited to go back for breakfast at the Broken Egg; it was one of my favorite breakfast places. The menu used to be extensive, food good, portions big, and service friendly. I can't say that any more. We waited an inordinately long time for our food order to be completed. Portions were small,coffee was lukewarm, and I am still waiting for my coffee to be refilled. The waitress was busy as the restaurant appeared to be understaffed.
