We had a delicious meal. Nothing wrong with the food. The only issue we had was that it appeared that some of the servers had friends that they were attending to. Our group was staying nearby for a wedding and this was the closest breakfast place to us so we decided to give it a try. First of all, it is advertised as Crager's but it is really The Glossie River. There was only one other group there, so we sat ourselves quickly. We did get our drinks and food quickly. The fountain Coke/Diet Coke were horrible, drip coffee was pretty good. I got the Nana's Omelette and hash browns which were both good. 2 in our group got the biscuits and gravy which were interesting... we don't think the "gravy" had sausage in it and had a super peculiar taste we think from some seasoning they used. The grits were okay! Another person got the breakfast speciality chicken and waffles. The waffle was good, but it was topped with 4 seasonless chicken wings. Nice little diner style restaurant. Sit yourself once in, welcoming staff. I had the chicken fried steak with gravy on the side, hash browns and over easy eggs. I always get my gravy on the side, due to all gravies are not the best , this gravy was a smack your momma gravy. Stopped in for a quick bite. It's was noon and the place was empty. Was seated right away by a pleasant young lady that informed me it was her first day in the job. Used to be pretty good food. It changed hands a couple of years ago that people that had owned it originally for 40 some odd years sold it the two times I was in sense and was not great. It's still open. I might give it another shot one day. read more

We ate at Crager's on January 1 because many other restaurants were closed due to the holiday. We had a few hours to kill before flying out of the Sarasota airport and this facility was about five minutes drive away. The diner serves breakfast all day long so hubby and I decided to take advantage of that. We were cheerfully greeted with a smile and "happy new year!" as soon as we walked into the restaurant. Tracy brought menus and a welcoming smile to our table. I ordered grilled shrimp and grits with creole sauce on the side and it was delicious! I wasn't sure about the sauce but I'm so happy that Tracy encouraged me to try it. The homemade biscuit was piping hot and tasty, too. My husband enjoyed his over easy eggs which he said were cooked perfectly plus bacon, pancakes, and homefries. He also reported the coffee was tasty and hot as it should be. I really enjoyed this little diner and it was right across from the hotel. I think they only stay open till 2 PM so I would definitely check the hours before you head over. When you walk in, they have the specials on the board to your right. They have a really, big and diverse menu. The meat lovers omelette I had was fantastic with a side of hashbrowns. I'm not sure the name of the omelette, but it was kind of like the three meat omelette Our waitress was great and she was taking care of the entire restaurant and there wasn't a lag in service at all. We have been trying a different restaurant for breakfast everyday and after reading the reviews and browsing through some of the pictures I thought this is a good place to try out. It was a Sunday morning around 10:30 and there was 1 other patron in this diner. I scanned the specials board on the way in and nothing really special on the board. So a lot of the pictures on the site showed a lot more than the menu offered but that could've been specials in the past. So there really was nothing on the menu that was pleasing my interest. So I ended up with chicken and waffle which is a couple of chicken tenders and a waffle, and we also ordered the healthy omelette and an order of crepes with Nutella. It was a okay breakfast but the crepes was 3 very small crepes and should've been a side order at best. Our waitress was very pleasant and very pregnant but she was very attentive and I enjoyed the service she provided. read more

My husband and I travel quite a bit and get to try new restaurants all over the country. We were So Disappointed in Crager's. Skeleton crew to start. 15 minutes after we sat down to get our drinks and 45 minutes to get our food. My husband ordered Eggs Benedict and I ordered Biscuits and gravy with 2 over medium eggs and I asked for well done bacon and sausage. My husband's eggs Benedict was as flat as a flat tire, my biscuits weren't cooked through and my eggs were like snot. Never refer this restaurant to my worst enemy. read more

A good Florida diner. We came for breakfast. Our waitress Angel was great. She was able to adjust my meal because I'm trying not to eat potatoes. They gave me tomatoes instead. A little under ripe but still good. But the omelet was really good. It had mushrooms spinach tomatoes and feta. The sourdough bread was good too. My son had pancakes w chocolate chips and very fresh strawberries. Two eggs over well but still runny yolk which I love. He said it was good. On Friday, I decided to grab some lunch with my father. We had always enjoyed Crager's in the past, and it was just as good as we had remembered. This is a small family owned restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch. They have been open for quite a few decades. We walked in and we were greeted and seated immediately. Our server was top notch and super friendly. She took our drink orders and we decided on our main meals. I went with a double bacon cheeseburger and my father wanted a cheese steak. I added an order of onion rings. They had a decent lunch business, but the food came out in a timely fashion. Everything looked good so we dove in. My burger was cooked perfectly medium rare and had a nice char on the patty. My dad said his cheese steak was perfect and he was excited it was big enough for two meals. The onion rings were tasty and cooked properly. All of the food was well executed. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit to Crager's. The food and service was great. We will definitely be back soon to try some other menu options. We hear they have outstanding fried chicken, so that's the next target. Highly recommended. read more

Went for a quick bite today and when I walked in I was met with water on the floor. Me and my colleague were seated and ordered. He ordered a Reuben and I ordered the patty melt. When our orders came out we were alittle disappointed with the portion very little fries which were not warm and the sandwiches themselves were on the smaller side. My friend's Reuben was very small which did not reflect the price he paid as his bill including a soda was 17 or so. I did forget to snag pictures but I would likely go back for breakfast "too see if food had better portions" rather than lunch. The staff was friendly and we had recent customer service. read more

I liked the place Crager's is located along US41 between Sarasota and Bradenton, convenient for me this morning. I popped in for some breakfast. It was not busy but there were indications that it can get quite busy. I received a friendly greeting and a quick cup of coffee. I ordered one of the specials described to me, a smoked sausage dish with eggs and potatoes. The sausage was large with a good solid flavor. I thought the potatoes could have been prepared a little better. Overall, I was very satisfied with the food. Belatedly I read through other Yelp reviews and saw recommendations for their thick Amish bacon. When I checked on ordering a side, it was going to be expensive enough that I took a pass. I'll have to return someday better prepared. I also read about their homemade jellies and was a little disappointed when my food arrived with Smucker's jelly containers with my toast. There were jars for sale up by the register. I like the place and particularly liked my service. There were also friendly interactions between the server and the other customers.
