This is a nice spot that is spacious and very conveniently located. The menu is great and the food is delicious. Lots of options from the bar but their mocktails could so with some work. Staff could be a bit friendly.

We stopped in to Fork & Hen about an hour before they closed. When we walked in, there were only a few diners, so we assumed we had just missed the lunch rush. This was a pleasant surprise because we were on a tight schedule and just wanted a quick bite. The restaurant itself was clean and modern with a bit of an edgy vibe, but the wall décor was a bit all over the place. I think it was meant to feel eclectic, but it came across as a little sloppy and not entirely cohesive. Before going, we had looked at reviews and saw photos of some really beautiful dishes. Unfortunately, when we tried to find those same items on the menu, they weren't there anymore. That left us feeling a little indecisive. Our server was friendly and patient and gave us plenty of time to decide, which we appreciated. We eventually ordered the six-wing special and a burger to share. Then we waited... and waited. It ended up being over 45 minutes for our food, which was pretty frustrating considering there were only a few people in the restaurant. For wings and a burger, that just felt like a really long time. Eventually I asked the server to check on it. The wings came out shortly after, but the burger still wasn't ready. The wings were amazing. Seriously delicious! Crispy, flavorful, and absolutely the highlight of the meal. The burger, unfortunately, was just okay. It was a little under-seasoned, and the four slices of cheese completely overwhelmed it. We expected the cheese to be melted (especially on a smashburger), but as you can see in the photos, the cheese was actually still cold. It was also served on focaccia bread. The bread had great flavor and texture on its own, but it didn't hold up well to a juicy burger. The bottom piece was already soaked through before we even took the first bite. Some people might like that, but it wasn't really our thing. At the end of the meal, the chef sent out one of his homemade cookies, which was a really nice gesture. It was a giant, freshly baked chocolate chip cookie with white chocolate chunks and Cadbury eggs and it was absolutely fantastic. Overall, the food was a bit of a mixed bag. Some items were really great, but the service was just far too slow. It's probably not a place you want to go if you're in a hurry, that's for sure.

The food was phenomenal! The portions were HUGE! Also, the servers were nice! And the inside was really empty, so it was like a private restaurant!

Top tier comfort food that is presented beautifully. The chicken is juicy and full of flavor. The waffle was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, which is perfect for me. My husband had the mac n cheese and it's honestly the best I have had in Sarasota. Lastly I got the banana pudding and they brûlée'd the bananas. It's was delicious and enough for four people. The waitress was lovely and helpful as we were first timers .

They only have their brunch menu on the weekends. That's was a bummer because I was looking forward to some of the other things a their menu. The atmosphere was fancy, the nice silverware and plates. My husband ordered the burger. He said it was good! I got the crab cake Benedict. They did such a great job on the poached eggs! But their crab cake was average. We loved the fries! Thick and hearty and crispy. The kids chicken tenders and fries was the star with 6 tenders! My daughter had the kids waffle and sweet cream she enjoyed it. The service was great. The booth was tight. Not enough legroom for me and I'm 5'5'' and even less for my husband 6'1" I would definitely go again. The food was wonderful but I'd pick different seats. Street parking was so affordable especially on a Sunday.

Visited on a Sunday and the service was a bit slow despite it not being very crowded. The mac & cheese was lukewarm instead of hot, and the fried chicken was very dry, with some pieces mostly breading and little chicken. The omelette lacked flavor and had too much cheese, making it overly oily. Overall, the food was just okay.

Came with friends who highly recommended this place. The restaurant has a very fun and care feee decor. My favorite piece of art was of a man from the 20s riding a dinosaur. The food was absolutely delicious! Fried chicken, smash burger, and even my daughters chicken tenders. The deserts are MASSIVE! Parents be warned, if your kid only likes a certain type of fry like ours. The fries here and more like crispy potato wedges. They're awesome, but some kids won't touch them. IYKYK. Staff was very kind and helped us with making som decisions. My only gripe is the pricing. It seems a little over priced. Over $100 for my wife, myself, and our 3 year old. Even though the food was fantastic, the fact that prices are fairly high and that most of the menu is heavily fried (we knew going in), will probably keep us from coming back.

Best damn Mac & cheese with fried chicken. Delicious.

Are here 1/29 at 7pm. Sat in the dining area away from the bar since the music was too loud. The Mac & cheese with the fried chicken was incredible, large portion. The brussels sprouts and cauliflower were tasty. Great service and excellent food. We plan to go back next week.

I really wanted to love this place based on the cool name and menu. While the atmosphere, service, and portion size were all 5 stars, each of the three items we ordered were bland. What drew me to the restaurant was the macaroni and cheese with fried chicken. The presentation was impressive but the flavor was lacking. I also ordered the Ceasar salad which was flavorless. I shared the corn cake appetizer with my friend and again, the size and presentation were outstanding, but it lacked flavor. The primary flavor was the syrup drizzled on the plate. Some pepper spiced up the Ceasar salad and salt helped the macaroni and cheese, but shouldn't be a necessary addition to a dish. Servers were polite and service was very fast, unfortunately I won't be back.

If you enjoy small hole in the wall restaurants, AMAZING flavors, and generous portions, be sure to stop on by Fork & Hen! Brief Summary: This local family owned restaurant is what dining is all about. It's every foodies dream to come across places like this! Trust me on this, you will love love love the INCREDIBLE food here!! Would I Recommend This Restaurant? Absolutely! The Food: Words can't begin to describe how insanely delicious the burger was. I'm a burger connoisseur, and this is one of my all time favorite burgers! The blend of meat is absolutely delicious! Something that I think makes the difference between an okay burger and an AMAZING burger. It's also balanced so well with the egg, the bun, the toppings, etc. it just all goes so well together. And these aren't your standard bun or toppings. These different pieces used to build this burger are extremely unique, and they work so well together! The mac and cheese was also out of this world. Something so simple, was turned up to a level that I wasn't expecting. There is just so much passion in every single dish here. And that's the key. When you have people that are passionate about food sharing their creations with you, that's the ultimate win win! The food here is just incredible. Please, do yourself a flavor, and experience it yourself! Value: I felt like the prices were very reasonable. Nothing outrageous at all. To be honest though, for the level of care and passion that went into my dishes, I would have been willing to pay even more just to ensure they stay around for the long haul! Service and Staff: The staff here were super friendly, and we even got to speak with the owner who was right there working right alongside everyone else. Just a very kind man that is so passionate about his restaurant. You can just feel that THIS is his dream, and he treats every single person that comes through the door as if they are individually contributing to keeping his dream alive. And I just think it's truly beautiful and refreshing to see and feel this! Location and Interior: I haven't been to the new location yet, so I can't speak too much to this, but the decor inside was very nice. Everything was clean, and absolutely no issues at all! Final Thoughts: This restaurant is what every single restaurant in the world should strive to be like. When you have an owner, who is so passionate about food, and who shares that passion with their customers, you end up with something truly beautiful and magical. I love everything about this place, and you will too! P.S. Please help support local businesses like this one! Final Scores: Food - 10/10 Value - 5/5 Service/Staff - 5/5 Location/Interior 5/5 Total 25/25 = 5/5 Stars Stay fresh Mother Fooders! :p

    Beet salad $13? with crab cake extra/option $15 (6/10)

June 13, 2025 - Two for Dinner before FST show. (PSA : City of Sarasota Predatory Towing Alert!!! Sadly right after this meal, we stopped for gelato on Main Street, could not find handicapped or near parking spot for my handicapped placard car for wife's knee/bone on bone and car accident recovering conditions and currently she is treating a shingles outbreak with EYE involvement!! We got towed in under 10 minutes for over $300 and ruined our evening at Main and Orange down the street) To the review: We had been here a few times as Made so this was a new experience. Service was pretty sluggish, but we were not in a hurry. Server was communicative, pleasant and suggestive. When we were needing or waiting for beverages or ordering or a missing item we were "alone" or the two or three waitstaff was tending to other tables. When we were eating or chatting we got interrupted and quizzed. Maybe just inexperienced & short staffed? I got a Heineken 0.0 (no alcohol) and yes I know I am in a restaurant but as a cost basis you can get a 12 pack for $1.33 at Walmart cheaper that soda?....... but $8 for a non-alcoholic beverage that the restaurant isn't needing to offset a liqueur license charge for is pretty high!!! That is a 502% Markup? My wife got two Lychee Martini and they were VERY diminutive in a wedding reception sized champagne glass that was 2/3 full for $15 each? Almost 40% of our total bill. I felt very overcharged and underwhelmed. The beet salad I ordered (this was the ONLY vegetarian friendly or workable item (leaving off the ricotta cheese) that I could configure on the menu. Mainly bar food and high animal products and SOS (sugar, oil/fat, and salt) This is NOT a vegan, vegetarian, whole food plant based place. My wife encouraged me to get the crab cake which I will occasionally go for on a special occasion. Father's Day weekend? The beets were varied and very nicely cooked and great product and so were the greens!! The ricotta I got on the side, my wife said was fantastic accompaniment!!!! 9/10 The crab cake was pretty saucy and wet and the crab in it was more like a tuna salad smashed up consistency. 4/10 My wife got a fish special that I can't remember what it was days later, BUT I had a piece and she REALLY enjoyed it. Nice piece of fish, well prepared and very tasty catch!!!! It had the crab cake/mixture as well more like a stuff crab baked on top in the broiler. I like it a little better because it was firmer and browned and not as 'saucy' as the crab cake came out. side greens were excellent and a celery root or something side instead of potatoes (wife doe not like/eat potatoes and they are now on the EWG Dirty Dozen vegetable insecticide and bug list) was very tasty. 8/10 Remodeled place looks great as now the Fork & Hen. Clean, place ware and dishware and glassware, bathrooms ALL good, Parking garage to the South and attached and free - VERY AWESOME.

After exploring the selby gardens all morning we were starving and I made it clear I wanted to go this place after. The inside is cute and i couldn't stop finding random items hanging or decorated on the walls. I ordered just a lemon water and got 6 lemons, no complaints here. I also got their chicken sandwich and it was so good but also really messy!! The service was super quick and friendly, i accidently dropped the check and he quickly picked it up without a complaint, also kept checking in to see if we needed anything. My only complaint is that i went in with no mosquito bites and then left with three.

    Mac & cheese
    Luke T.

I came in excited for the mac & cheese, but this dish falls flat once you look past the flashy presentation. For $28, I expected depth of flavor and a thoughtful cheese blend--what I got was a one-note cheese sauce, topped with a dusting of Parmesan that felt out of place rather than enhancing the dish. Parmesan has its place, but it doesn't belong as the star accent on mac & cheese, and here it just clashed. The fried chicken bites were decent, but nothing you couldn't throw together at home with a box of pasta, a proper cheese mix, and a little oven time. Honestly, a homemade casserole with sharp cheddar, gouda, and a buttery crumb topping would outshine this--and at less than half the cost for the entire pan. This isn't bad food, but it's not remotely worth the hype or the price tag. Fork and Hen might lean on presentation, but substance and value just aren't there.

They have a Naked Fish section where they offer a few types of fish with many preparation choices. In the end my wife and I both decided on their less expensive Camp Basket and splurged on both a Clam Chowder and a Camp Salad. The chowder was delicious. The serving size was really not large enough to share but we did, and left me wanting more. The salad was fine. The basket was larger than it first appeared with lots of thin cut fries at the bottom. The several pieces of fried oysters and shrimp were flavorful. The basket also had small bites of okra and a fillet of a lightly breaded white fish. Too much food for my wife, enough to fill me up. My plan to try a dessert faded away. Once we paid we headed back to the courtyard to listen to more music before heading out. A very good meal and a pleasant evening, who could ask for more.
