After a fun day at Siesta Beach, we stumbled upon Der Dutchman for dinner. They offer buffet which was perfect for trying a little of everything. I had the roast beef, turkey, roasted chicken, and fried chicken. Not the best, but solid. The sides were decent and as comforting especially the mashed potatoes, green beans, and mac and cheese. The friendly service and relaxed vibe made it a great end to a perfect beach day.

Haven't visited Der Dutchman in a while. This review is not for the restaurant. We haven't eaten here yet. This is a buffet for 19.95. We had just finished eating at Yoder's and wanted to do our own Sarasota Amish tour. Dee Dutchman is a good size two floor building with all things Amish. We started upstairs. This is their gift shop. Lots of different gift items here for the family. Afterwards, downstairs you will find the restaurant, bakery and market, restroom, & two banquet rooms and restroom. The market has many baked items, breads, jellies, candy's, coffee, cake, etc. This is a fun shop to check out and you may take some goodies home. Everything is very nice and welcoming! In the back lot, you will also find an Amish Owned Hotel Called Carlisle Inn. So Der Dutchman is convenient for those staying there.

Always love a good Amish buffet! Wait time: seated within 5 minutes Atmosphere: cozy, country restaurant, crowded and loud Service: friendly server, like any other buffet, they only come around to refill drinks Food:plentiful and delicious, you can also order off the menu Price: $$ Cleanliness: could use a touch up but we did go during rush hour

Good ole heart attack fatty comfort food. It's Cracker Barrel Amish style. Commercial sheen to it so that it could be an Applebees. The gift shop of quilts isn't home made, so there's that. Preserves whoopie cookies, pies, salts rubs canned items all from the Amish lifestyle. All in all it's an experience you gotta have and love

Great place to visit it's massive and has about everything. The dining is either buffet or they do have a menu to order from I suggest the buffet it has a decent selection Friday seafood was great fresh baked salmon and fried cod plus all the normal buffet items fried chicken mashed potatoes etc. salad bar was fresh and well maintained. Dessert was some of their fresh baked goods service was quick decently friendly and for the size it was pretty quiet. Like Arnold said I'll be back

Der Dutchman was a place I'd heard about and looked up, so we decided to stop on the way back from Sarasota. The place is huge and was very busy, but the buffet stayed well stocked. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. Buffet has tons of options--fish, beef, chicken, salads, desserts, and bakery items--something for everyone. Upon walking in the gift shop and bakery are musts in checking out. First time here, and while I don't think I would go out of my way just to visit, it was definitely worth the price and a solid stop if you're already in the area.

Good Amish food, good service. The place is pretty large, has a reasonably priced buffet or you can order off the menu. There's also a bakery, a store, honestly kind of gives that Cracker Barrel mixed with a retirement community vibe, in a good way! It's great comfort food spot, don't expect a fine dining experience here and you'll leave satisfied.

One of my favorite places to visit. The food is amazing and service is speedy. I've only done the buffet both times I've been and it has been really good. There are 3 different sections with food to pick from and ice cream is included.

Stopped in for lunch. The wait staff was very nice. Got the Cod sandwich which seemed like it was made fresh and not a frozen reheat. The fish was a little mushy. Cole slaw was the side and it was not that good, seemed premade. The dinner yeast rolls were amazing. I could eat an entire tray. Got the strawberry rhubarb pie slice and was given the option for it to be warm with a scoop of ice cream. Served cold was fine for me and it was tasty. The bakery and gift shop was really neat. I would go back when it's not so busy. But are they busy all the time?

Came in because of the reviews. First impressions were very nice when you walk in the front door and the little store was really neat. Then we went to the restaurant. Wasn't worth the hype. Felt and tasted more like a diner lunch than anything. We had the chili which was oddly sweet but not bad. Also spilt the 4 piece chicken dinner which was the reason for coming in. Chose mashed potatoes and noodles for the sides. The chicken seemed overcooked. Almost like it was taken off the budget and warmed making it dry and tough. Unfortunately we did not enjoy our lunch at all. The inside was the highlight. Pretty neat.

White rolls, hot out of the oven.

The parking place had ample parking where you needed a mobile app to pay for your parking. There was a larger souvenir store there if you needed to kill time before your seating. Once it was our time for our dinner reservations, we were greeted and seated at our table. Our waitress was a bit sarcastic or had a witty comments that didn't sit well with my kids. When ordering our foods, the kids asked what type of drinks they had since it was not listed on the menu. She said Coke but didn't elaborate that they had Coke products. Since she said Coke so fast our daughter didn't hear the response and asked her the question again where she just said that's a great question and ignored her and moved on. Food wise - we had the Peruvian ceviche, Peruvian chicken, I think I had a special grouper dish. The food was good. We were able to eat everything and the kids enjoyed their kids burger meals. Outside of the waitress comments, the place placed nice modern music to listen to and had the basketballs games playing on the tv at the bar.

The wait time was about 45 minutes, which wasn't bad at all. The crab cakes were delicious, but the sauce was a miss for me. It was way too spicy. With crab cakes, I think it's best to keep it simple with a tartar-style sauce, of course vegan. I ended up eating them without the sauce and enjoyed them much more that way. The tofu Reuben was good overall, but the bread was a little soggy. A thicker or sturdier bread might hold up better. Even so, the flavors were good and I enjoyed it. Last but definitely not least was the raw blueberry cheesecake. It was absolutely delicious! However, the sauce served with it wasn't for me at all. Thankfully, I tasted it separately before pouring it on the cheesecake because I would have been disappointed. The sauce wasn't sweet and took away from the dessert rather than adding to it. Overall, I had a good experience and enjoyed most of what I ordered. I'll definitely be back, and next time I'd like to dine in and enjoy the meals.

My husband had the Tofu Rueben. The tofu was a thick slab and the faux corned beef idea would have been better as thin seitan slices. But, he still enjoyed it. We shared everything and the waitress was so helpful in the dish order to come out. Both the seasonal and Caesar salads were really good, and the octopus appetizer was a step above most places with its tender meat and slightly sweet sauce. The 40 oz tomahawk deal was delicious and came with the 2 salads and 2 sides. We got the Brussel sprouts (I really enjoyed this but it got a little too salty as I kept eating it) and the caramelized sweet potatoes (much too sweet for our taste but still tasty). It also comes with a grilled onion and homemade sauce that was a nice complement. The red snapper was good but the chilesan sea bass on risotto outshine it. Both the bass itself (so tender) and the risotto (delicious use of lobster and creaminess) shined through. They surprised us with a complimentary chocolate cake for the birthday girl. It was a little dry but not bad. We also got a key lime tart to share and it comes with a towering meringue. Again, a little too sweet for our liking but flavor was good. Lastly, I got the honey keeper mocktail which was the best drink of the bunch. My companions got the cucumber and strawberry basil lemonade cooler but both were too sweet. May 2026 update - Pepino Refresco - cucumber & jalapeño infused misguided tequila blanco,…read morepineapple, green chartreuse, agave and lime 2 out of 5 - although the green chartreuse combined with the pineapple juice gives the drink a pleasant color, the intrinsic sweetness of the green chartreuse with the agave made it feel off balance, cloying and slightly awkward; I'm not necessarily about complaining or returning a drink so I did ask for more pineapple and lime juice to balance out the drink; as the drink's recipe currently stands, I would not order it again or recommend it, the idea of using a cucumber & jalapeño infused blanco tequila is lovely but I'd rather have them build a margarita with that base spirit instead of going for the Pepino Refresco recipe as it is on their current menu in 2026; the intensity of the chartreuse flattens the delicate infusion that was used to prepare the tequila Mushroom Parfait - grilled baguette, torn lion's mane mushroom, shaved truffle, herb salad - *add this to the "one of the most delicious things I've eaten" list* - this dish had me delightfully impressed unlike anything I've had before! The delicate, fresh greens had the perfect ratio of light vinaigrette dressing. It was so pleasant to add a modest amount of the mushroom emulsion on the baguette and follow a bite of that with the greens. Truly a must order dish if you like mushrooms. French fries - you can't go wrong with the french fries here, go ahead and ask for a side of any aioli they offer you to have them with, I'm definitely ordering these again here
