Crazy Popular For breakfast I had their homemade Corned Beef Hash and Eggs. The hash was almost totally meat, pieces of potatoes, onions, and peppers few. Tasted very good, perhaps a little dry but that probably made it healthier. I liked that the potatoes were large pieces on the side instead of being a filler for the hash. There was no shortage of food. Service was great and the coffee kept flowing, pots coming around for topping off at frequent intervals. They know how to do breakfast. I arrived this morning less than 10 minutes after the restaurant opened and it was already half full. I was seated right away. Ten minutes later the place looked completely full. Crazy. But don't be discouraged from coming, I could see the entrance from where I sat, and no one waited for more than a couple of minutes to be seated. Being so busy so quickly I expected my food to take longer than my 10 minutes expectation, and it did, but not by much. Good job. read more

Blue Dolphin Cafe is the only sit down breakfast spot on the north end of Lonboat Key. The food and service were both great, but nothing super special. This is a classic diner. They do have alcohol, so you can always have a beer or mimosa with your brunch! The service was quick and our food had great flavor. There is ample parking, but the location is very walkable when temperatures are mild. read more

This is our breakfast spot every time we stay in Longboat Key! You can't go wrong with anything on their menu. My husband got the blue dolphin special and I went with the Homemade corned beef with fruit and toast. Their corned beef hash is delicious! Most places don't offer homemade corned beef hash, usually it comes straight out of a can. Not here! The staff is very friendly and the service is fast. If you haven't been to this local family owned business and are in Longboat Key, this is a breakfast spot you have to try! There's a reason why we will remain repeated customers! read more

Been eating here for years but Blue Dolphin has changed. We went for a walk down memory lane with our kids. The interior is the same but the vibe is different. Not the friendly homey atmosphere. Portions are huge, many of them could be split. Food is not bad but the attention to preparation is not what it used to be. Hope it's not like many of the places we used to frequent on LBK and St Armand's that aren't here anymore. read more

My FAVORITE brunch spot in LBK (or maybe anywhere, ever!). We've been coming to Longboat twice a year for over 3 years now and I make sure I get Blue Dolphin at least twice each trip down. The food is so good (and usually very fast), the staff is friendly and nice. You can tell they work really hard to make it a nice experience! Portions are big, the breakfast potatoes are super delicious. My favorite things to get are the western omelet or the bacon egg and cheddar egg sandwich. I just love it! Just look at the photo. Blue Dolphin..an adorable name for an adorable establishment. This is a super place to have a fresh breakfast. The place is so bright and warm it will just remind you of sunshine. I was told about the Blue Dolphin from a friend who goes there all the time and is never let down by the food or the service. Being consistent counts for alot. Not only does my friend go there regularly but her family loves it as well. It is so nice to find a place that is pretty, offers yummy food with a friendly staff. First, YELP you should remove their buy one get 50% offer from their page. When I asked the waitress about it, she claimed she'd never heard of it and they had no such thing. I wanted to show it to her on my phone, but since I couldn't get internet service, I was unable to pull it up. When I asked if I could get on their WiFi, I was told no. I was In Longboat Key with 3 friends for a week and we ate practically 3 meals a day in restaurants. There are a lot of options other than here. The food was just ok. Nothing special. And we had some pretty incredible meals elsewhere. Save your money, go elsewhere. read more

SHARE THE OMELETTE.... Since I was in a review mode, yet another Meh breakfast dining experience. Muffins are great, staff friendly, but the omelettes (I'm just warning you) are tremendous, and not that great(egg is way too thick for true tasty omelettes), but if you must go there, SHARE THE OMELETTE! it is too big for one person! Everyone gets their own, and 9/10 times you are throwing the balance away.... Lots of tourists, and a long wait during season make it a place that I avoid pretty much all the time. read more

Just your typical breakfast place...nothing special. The service was good and coffee was delicious. I got just eggs over medium, bacon, potatoes and pancakes-the blue Dolphin special. If you had to eat breakfast on longboat this place is the best for your buck. Everywhere else will charge you $15 for 2 eggs. The prices are great. read more

I have lived in Longboat Key for 22 years and now have been to the Dolphin now twice. I made the mistake of going to the Dolphin again. I ordered the Biscuits and gravy. The gravy was like colored water, very little taste, and the biscuits were crusty. I make biscuits and gravy at home using Libby's gravy, and it is delicious. They could not pay me to go back there again. read more

Breakfast or lunch, you can not go wrong at the Blue Dolphin Cafe on Longboat Key. The food is always delicious and the staff always on their game. It is a must visit place every year when we vacation in nearby Anna Maria Island. My wife must have a Blue Dolphin burger when we visit. I enjoy their breakfast wrap. You can wear your bathing suits and flip flops if you like, it is not a formal place. Worth giving a try if you are in the area, we always do! read more

This is a great little cafe, only open for breakfast and lunch. My boyfriend and I visited on a Saturday morning and were seated right away! The service was quick and the food was delicious, breakfast was your typical omelette, pancakes, waffles, etc. I ordered the fruit topped waffle with a side of turkey sausage. The waffle was decently sized with nice pile of fresh strawberries, banana slices, and some blueberries, it also came with whipped cream and I think next time I would get it without, it was a bit too much for my taste. My boyfriend got an omelet and it was HUGE! He said it was great as well. There's also a Blue Dolphin in St. Armand's Circle, but there were people outside waiting where as with this one there were plenty of empty tables. This is a small chain with multiple locations in the area. They do all the breakfast basics and do them well. Pancakes are huge and delicious. Hollandaise sauce on my Benedicts was buttery heaven. My coffee cup never got more than half empty. In summary - great food and fast service make Blue Dolphin a winner in my book. read more

Great place for tourists and locals on vacation to have breakfast. Get there early. On most days, if you're not there by 9:00, you will have to wait in line outside. The food is upscale diner quality. The staff is friendly. It could stand a detailed cleaning (especially the ceiling), new paint and minor updates to the decor. If you're not so analytical, you may not notice. read more

This is a very nice clean and friendly cafe. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. The menu is simple and the food was excellent. We had breakfast and the eggs were cooked perfectly, the pancakes were like homemade and came out piping hot (the pancakes are the size of dinner plates btw!). The pancakes came out with an ample mound of butter and I didn't have to open a dozen small packages . My husband loves the corn beef hash and the country potatoes were fresh, not out of a bag. If you want a clean friendly place for breakfast or lunch this is a great little hidden gem. read more

Once it was our time for our dinner reservations, we were greeted and seated at our table. Our waitress was a bit sarcastic or had a witty comments that didn't sit well with my kids. When ordering our foods, the kids asked what type of drinks they had since it was not listed on the menu. She said Coke but didn't elaborate that they had Coke products. Since she said Coke so fast our daughter didn't hear the response and asked her the question again where she just said that's a great question and ignored her and moved on. Food wise - we had the Peruvian ceviche, Peruvian chicken, I think I had a special grouper dish. The food was good. We were able to eat everything and the kids enjoyed their kids burger meals. Outside of the waitress comments, the place placed nice modern music to listen to and had the basketballs games playing on the tv at the bar.
