After 4 questions of the waitstaff, and a resignation that we were speaking different food languages, I ordered it. "Is it chili made fresh'. It's not chili, there are no beans' "What is it". "It's green chiles" Goin' nowhere with three more rounds, I accepted that he said 'a lot of people order it' What was it? An omelet. I contained green chilies, had some salsa, some excellent bread and sweetened jam. And it was a fine omelet. I didn't know I wanted eggs, but apparently I did, and I ate them, all and pleased. We decided to try First Watch for lunch as we've only been here for their famous breakfast. I had the Cobb salad and hubs had the chicken salad. He really liked the fact that it was served on a toasted piece of bread- as well as the chicken salad itself was yummy. My Cobb salad (minus the egg) was HUGE- the waitress let me know that in the future, I can order a half salad - so take note of that. The salad was very good, I could only get thru half of it. It was served with a 'toast' that has butter and some spices on it and was really good! Service was excellent , we had iced teas to the table even before our first round was gone. We ended up getting butternut squash bisque to go as I didn't see it on the board before we ordered. We had it with our dinner and it was fantastic- creamy comfort food. read more

One of my favorite places to visit when in the area. Always had a great experience...until today. We ordered a seasonal special - ginger spiced doughnuts. They were great except they weren't hot at all. They weren't even warm. Ok next, the entrees. I ordered a biscuit, smoked ham and potatoes. My potatoes came out a full 10 minutes before anything else at the table (I'm not kidding). It made no sense at all. There were 3 of us at the table and one plate of one person's food came out 10 minutes before anything else. My biscuit was a crumbled, cold mess. My ham was cold. It was just awful. My husbands food was ok and so was my sons. He ordered an almond, granola pancake and thought it was divine. Popular place in a Friday morning! We were seated immediately, and a carafe of fresh coffee arrived soon after. Server Antonio recommended the Biscuit and Turkey Sausage for my friend Rich, while I ordered the Tri-Fecta. Had I known how fluffy the multigrain pancake would be I'd have skipped the eggs and bacon. Frankly, I was expecting a grainy, chewy dense pancake. But the airiness was a wonderful surprise! We've had many wonderful breakfasts at our neighborhood First Watch on Camelback, so when we were searching for a lunch spot to take visitors, we thought we'd give it a try. Shazam! Fresh, tasty food plated pleasingly, comfortable seating (the upholstered chairs invited us to linger), and a fantastic server, Leslie, who was professional and friendly. Our guests enjoyed their Bloody Marys, and my husband and I chose from the Juice Bar. I am now obsessed with the Pineapple Express (which I think was a "special"). It was pineapple forward but also blended orange and I think lime for a delicious refresher. My husband was pleased with his turkey burger and his creative Morning Meditation juice, and the rest of us chose from the "2 For You" selections that allow for combining half portions of sandwiches, salads, and soups. My sister was in comfort food heaven with the ham and cheese panini paired with tomato basil soup, and my other sister was amazed by how fresh, colorful, and large the half salad was. No over-the-hill spring mix! Leslie suggested that I have the Monterey Club on toasted bread (yes, please -- good call), and when my cup of Italian Wedding soup (the daily special) came out looking suspiciously like tomato, Leslie whisked it away and returned with a full bowl of the correct soup. (It was definitely a kitchen glitch as Leslie had repeated back our order flawlessly.) No harm done. Great Hacienda Hash seasonal special today. Service was slower than usual, finally got a refill of my soda. This is a regular brunch spot for me. Dining Companion always gets the TriAthlete and I try all the other items. Lemon Ricotta pancakes are great, was really surprised at how good the breakfast sandwich was (it sounded small but was filling), they have chickichangas (a Mexican crepe like thing) lunches they have 1/2 and 1/2 combos. It wasn't busy today, no wait, and the food came out fast. Don't know why the service was bad - it was just lacking. After thinking more about this overnight, I adjusted the rating downward to a 3. They have NEVER made me a runny poached egg, and today's hash had two solid yolks in the basted eggs. My dining partner couldn't eat the fruit (hard, not ripe), and the eggs were cold. He likes the toast and the jam. Not enough for a great rating. The greens always need more acidity - usually just a light oil taste. Good sandwiches though. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with the food we had here for breakfast. It was so good! I have visited the other location on Thomas and it was definitely forgettable and service was not great. We came to this location and there was a 20 minute wait on a Sunday morning but you look around the restaurant and there were at least 4 or 5 empty tables. They were definitely understaffed, which also impacts the service. When we finally got seated, it took 10 or so minutes to get water. Since the waiter took 10 minutes, it gave us the time to look at the menu so when he dropped the water off, we told him we were ready to order. I ordered the avocado toast (recommended by Gabi M.) with overhard eggs. Hubby ordered a blueberry and carrot cake multigrain pancake. The avocado toast was everything I expected it to be - delicious!!! Good job, First Watch, for keeping it on your menu. The pancakes weren't bad either. I actually liked the carrot cake better than the blueberry one, but Hubby liked the blueberry one better. Our server wasn't really around for the rest of the dining experience after food was dropped off. He did drop our check and told us to pay up front, but that was it.
