Oh how the mighty have fallen. When we moved out to this area last year, this spot was an early favorite of my wife and I. Service was fast, food fresh and you barely had to wait for a seat. Today we arrived nice and early, yet we had to wait for nearly a half hour. We order immediately, hoping to speed things up along. Normally our breakfast would be out in minutes, but this time it took over 30 minutes. My skillet arrived with one overeasy egg broken. The plating was a mess. The nice large toast I was used to was replaced by much smaller pieces. The coffee which is normally delightful was instead bitter and overly roasted. I have enjoyed eating at this location no less than a dozen times, but today's experience demonstrates that the overall quality of service and speed has dropped. On a side note, the customers next to us commented that their million dollar bacon order never arrived. This is yet another sign that management is not guiding the staff in a positive direction. read more

We went here on a Friday morning, it was very busy and we had about a half hour wait. It's very popular, we should have expected that. I would recommend getting in early, I don't know if they take reservations. I ordered the Parma hash which comes with potatoes, Italian sausage, mozzarella, sun dried tomatoes, and two eggs of your choice. I love hollandaise, and I was able to add it. When it was coming up on an hour wait already, I asked how much longer. Only then did she tell me they had to slow seating because the kitchen was backed up! This information should have been given to the people waiting so they could make an informed decision about whether to keep waiting or leave. We waited for our table for almost TWO HOURS. Then another half hour or so waiting for mid-tier food. We came at 11 for brunch and ended up having lunch at 1. The coffee tasted similar to circle k and the diet coke was less carbonated than any other soda i've tasted in my life. Do not recommend, especially if you're on a time crunch. First Watch is a solid breakfast and/or brunch spot. This location has plenty of parking since it shares a larger parking lot with Target. If you haven't been to a First Watch think a more modern imagining of a Denny's breakfast chain. They have some great and diverse menu options. I'm looking at you Avocado Toast. They also feature some interesting juices. Their staples: the Kale Tonic and the Morning Meditation are solid picks and leave the drinker refreshed and smug off their imbibed vegetables. The seasonal juices I have tried haven't been up to that par but such is life. They also allow for everyone at your table to pay separately and you check out at the cashier. The downside to checking out with the cashier is that inevitably all the patrons in the entire restaurant decide to do this at once. Leaving a very long line of overly brunched people. Met a long time friend there for late breakfast today (Sunday, 10/17/21). Our friend has been there often and recommended almost everything I got the Inspired Italian Omelet with potatoes. Just freaking fantastic for an Omelet. The homemade bread toast was great with their house preserves. My wife got the Avocado Toast with two basted eggs. She's in love with that dish. They both got the Morning Meditation Fresh Juice drink. They like that kind of stuff, while I had normal coffee. For a chain restaurant, their food is pretty amazing. Came on a Saturday morning around 7:30am. The place was already half full. With French Toast and Pancakes that have fresh fruit and ricotta blended in, the menu is noticeably more exotic than your BoBo's and Jerry Bob's. We got the Floridian Fr Toast and the lemon custard pancakes. Both arrived warm and were delicious. Neither of us puts butter on our "bread" so we appreciated that they arrived with the butter in tiny cups rather than already melting atop the toast or pancake. Coffee was good and I love that they leave you with your own thermal pot on the table! Getting that last cup "to go" is also no problem. There were lots of wait-staff and no one else seemed to be waiting impatiently for anything. Parking at the Kolb/Spdwy location is plentiful, although you might have to spill into the Lowes lot during peak hours - roughly after 9am on the wknds. read more

My first trip to First Watch was today and my two children (8 and 11) accompanied me on a Friday morning. When we pulled up we could see that there was a wait because there were people waiting outside which I considered to be a good sign. When we entered we were promptly greeted and informed there would be a 10 minute wait. The wait was about that and we were sat at a booth inside. (Outside seating is also an option). After looking at the children's menu (there were about 6 options) including grilled cheese, French toast, sandwich, and eggs - to name a few- my daughter decided on French toast that included a slice of bacon. My son decided on the farmers skillet without bacon or avocado. I decided on eggs Benedict Florentine with potatoes. Our server waited an appropriate amount of time to take our order and returned with out drinks and a small glass container of water. Looking around, the food looks really healthy and there was a nice buzz. When our food came out we were happy with the time between when we ordered and our food arrived. Why the 4 stars? Our server never came back to check on us, refill our drinks, or to see if we wanted anything else before dropping the bill at our table. They did have a wait so I'm sure it was an oversight in service as to make room for another party. read more

If you are looking for hoity-toity breakfast this is it. All the way down to the avocado toast. I've had better food at Denny's on a late night. The food was acceptable, but there was SO LITTLE of it to eat. Felt like I was a bother to them from when I walked in. Person who seated us was a bit RUDE. Waitress was quite nasty as well. I ordered pancakes with my breakfast and got no syrup (kind of an expectation). A different girl delivered the breakfast, threw it down on the table, and ran off to sit in some office in the back. So, I'm trying to find my waitress so I can go about eating my food. Finally (now that the pancakes are cold) she rolls around from somewhere in the back. I ask for some syrup and was told that the other gal should have brought that to me. Yeah...ok...well, she didn't. So I actually had to argue with her for some syrup. Lots of "whatever" and high prices here. Save your sanity and your pocketbook. Find a Denny's instead. You'll be glad you did. read more

We just moved from San Diego to ARIZONA less than a month ago. 1st watch was recommended and they weren't wrong. Our last vist they were short staffed. And you can see how they keep the customers happy. On Tuesday morning the manager and the waitress we had was OUTSTANDING! I cannot say enough of how the customer service was on point. First I want to say this restaurant is my very favorite for Sunday breakfast or brunch. Their freshly made natural juices are to die for, and they are always offering different varieties. They have just added some new choices for the Summer Menu. Today I ordered the "sweet corn Mexican hash" and it was very tasty except for the fact that they serve it with flour tortillas and corn tortillas are not an option. I'm Mexican and I'm kind of used to not expecting authentic Mexican dishes here in the USA but the American version of them but in this particular case not offering corn tortillas with this dish knocks off at least 3 stars in my opinion. The food was sooooo good. I had the blt bennie and ordered a waffle to share with the family. The Bennie was delicious. I would have licked my plate but I was in public. The waffle was as big as a Belgian waffle but crispy like an eggo waffle. It was PERFECT. I live in San Diego and I've never had brunch this good. The service was fast and courteous. I don't know if there will be another reason to visit Tucson so this may have been a once in a lifetime experience for me. By far the best brunch place I've been to. read more

Four stars because it took over ten minutes for anyone to even greet us after we were seated but once he (Christian) came, we were on a roll. He was awesome, took our order, pointed out the seasonal item menu and our food came out in about 15 minutes. I had the steel cut oats topped with strawberries and bananas with brown sugar on the side. An added bonus was the milk provided as well as the blueberry/cranberry muffin which I was too full to eat but I took it to go. I also had the hot chocolate which could've been better, after the whip cream, it was more water than chocolate. Great food, not cheap, expect to wait for a table at prime time. I've had a couple of breakfasts here now, and considering the breadth of the menu, the quality and quantity of the food, and the friendly/attentive service, I think First Watch is pretty tough to beat for brekkie. I've paid about $15/person including coffee + tip, but IMHO it's worth it. Expect a wait if you come in on weekends after about 9:00AM. When we left this morning there were about a dozen people waiting in line. It's a bigger issue during the winter as a lot of their seating is outdoors, not real practical when it's 40 degrees outside. Seating is nice, they don't pack the tables insanely close together like some places do. If you can sit outside at this location on the East side you have to put up with a little road noise, but the view of the Catalinas is pretty spectacular. I love their menu. Their morning Kale drinks, etc. are really excellent. Very nicely balanced with sweetness. This morning I tried their multigrain blueberry pancakes, and they were just excellent. They warn you on the menu that they are huge, and indeed they are. I could barely finish two, and I am a BIG eater. Had a side of the million dollar bacon - the price may be a slight exaggeration, but it's really pretty dang good. My wife had one of the Quinoa bowls this morning topped with a couple of eggs - the flavor was just excellent, and she could not finish it, she just got too full. Service is attentive without being intrusive - they give you your own pot of coffee (excellent stuff), so you don't really need them too often once your food is delivered. I was happy my pancakes came out super hot from the kitchen. Nice place to treat yourself to once in a while! read more

They have a good amount of seating and if you choose the outdoor patio, you will get a lot of road noise. The views are beautiful though. I appreciate that they have non-pork meat options and their juices are delicious. My son can't get enough of the waffles. All the food that comes out looks like it's been cooked with care. FULL DISCLOSURE: In response to my prior review, I was contacted by a manager and offered a gift-card to try my neighborhood First Watch again. In truth, I already had. I'm not a creature of tradition at all, but I must admit that I really liked the Good Egg that First Watch replaced. I also liked First Watch...in Phoenix. Now to my honest, unbiased, updated review. I've been back to this First Watch about 4 times since I was contacted by the manager. I didn't mention the gift card and I went with my entire family. The first thing that I LOVE LOVE LOVE about First Watch, that the Good Egg did not have, is the skip-the-line app. I'm almost remiss to post about it here because it would be seriously traumatic for the app to get busy. I love waltzing in with my entourage (including an infant and a todder) on a Sunday morning and being seated in 5 minutes, to the envy of all of those socializing and enjoying the complimentary coffee. Their waiting area is awesome. Waiting with babies and toddlers is decidedly not. The menu is very different from the original iteration of First Watch that I knew in Phoenix. It is far more similar to the Good Egg's menu, but it is definitely not the same. I love their farm-fresh produce, their eggs are always extremely fresh, and they have a turkey meat product, which is great because we are a no-pork home. They also allow my vegetarian sister to substitute potatoes for the meat on her entrees, which she loves. So far I've tried the avocado toast (sue me); superfoods bowl, which comes with almond butter, but I got with avo mash due to a nut allergy in my infant; lemon ricotta pancakes; blueberry (multigrain)pancakes; the floridian french toast; and the biscuit and gravy with cheese grits. Everything has come out expertly plated, at the perfect temperature, and substitutions were no problem. My absolute FAVORITE dish that I'm unable to eat right now, has been the biscuit and gravy with cheese grits. SO GOOD. This is not a dish you expect to have made well in Arizona, so I was floored. The floridian french toast (and I'm a french toast lover) left a little something to be desired. The presentation was good, the fruits were fresh and delicious, but I felt it should have been served with something a little more florida than the standard syrup and fruit compote, perhaps the lemon curd or even a nice lime curd! I don't know, but though it is DELICIOUS, it wasn't at the top of the heap for me. Their lemon curd is DIVINE--it is decidedly not the jello-inspired "curds" you get at most restaurants and is a true restaurant curd (the secret is in adding whipped topping, so know it is NOT non-dairy). First Watch is a credible add to the rather sparse Oro Valley brunch landscape and, therefore, it's always packed. Get the app! It allows you to get in line and, when you provide your email address, it does send coupons, which while not a regular occurrence, is still a welcome addition. Get there early and enjoy complimentary coffee on their outdoor seating area. Somehow, they've managed to make the sidewalk seem like a beautiful patio, and the views of the mountains definitely don't hurt.In October-April, the patio is really a wonderful place to eat. All views go straight into the mountains and it'll make the weekend brunch wait for food (and you will wait) far more palatable. The service is very nearly always impeccable. The few issues that we've had have been with newer people or on days when there was no helping it: the kitchen crashed or there just weren't enough people on the floor. Overall, I'd give it a credible 4.5. I'd like to see more vegan options (my MIL can't eat anything except oatmeal sadly) and it would be nice if they offered soy/almond milk creamers, but I do understand supply and demand! read more

I like First Watch but honestly wonder why they can't accommodate curbside orders if you already pay online? I'm trying to do my best to socially distance and didn't realize until after placing my order online that they don't offer curbside. So many other restaurants and places have been extremely accommodating. As a potential customer, I wouldn't be able to get take out from here if I had my kids with me or if I didn't feel comfortable going inside the restaurant. I actually even called to ask if they would be willing to do curbside since I already paid for my order online & the answer was "no, you have to come in" Just seems odd. The hostess also confirmed this answer with someone else, so it's not just on the hostess. This is the best/worst part though- when I got there, the hostess (although was very very sweet overall) was no where to be found for awhile. There I am, standing long enough where I would've walked out if I didn't already pay online, wearing a mask, while everyone around me is not wearing a mask because they're eating. For someone who did not want to come inside due to wanting to social distance, I'm now in a compromising position- and I've already paid for my food AND was denied curbside service when I attempted to do so. Finally, the hostess shows up and I tell her I'm here for my order. She said it was getting bagged up and asked if I could just wait outside for it. What? I came inside (when I didn't feel comfortable) to get my food only to be told to wait outside, but they can't do curbside? A very very confusing situation to say the least and really does not make sense at all. Bottomline: Get with the times and if not, please make sure everything is in the take out order. read more

One of my favorite brunch spots in Tucson! I've been there many times and will continue going back. They have a rotating seasonal menu along with their staple menu. They also have fresh juices and come out with new combinations seasonally. First of all, if you order coffee or tea, they bring you your own large container coffee/hot-water so you can continue filling your mug as you please. They also have cold brew which I enjoy. My absolute favorite meal is their AM Superfoods Bowl (don't be scared by the calories, they are good calories); it pairs perfectly with the side of freshly made whole grain bread and almond butter. I also like getting the Tri-Athlete veggie egg-white omelet. It comes with a side of pico which I dump on top along with lots of hot sauce because I like it spicy; this comes with a lovely side of fruit (pineapple, strawberries, blackberries, grapes, melon), not the lame sides of fruit that most places have which are just mixed melons. The omelet also comes with the fresh healthy bread but this time a side of jam. If you're a fan of avocado toast they LOAD on the avocado, literally no expenses spared. Occasionally there is a short wait because they are popular. The only complaint I've heard is from my dad who thought their bacon was way overdone (personal preference?). I don't eat bacon so I don't know. That being said they made him an entire new side of bacon which wasn't as crispy. If you feel like sitting outdoors they have a covered patio with heaters above so you don't get cold. read more
