I was treated to lunch by my son Sam, an elite Yelper, at First Watch - Heartwood Preserve -- and it was a lovely experience. Our server (I wish I had caught his name) was patient, kind, and attentive throughout our visit. We both ordered the Morning Meditation juice, which was absolutely delicious. I also had a cup of coffee; unfortunately it lacked flavor, so I added vanilla creamer. I wasn't able to stir it at first because the spoon was dirty, but that was a small hiccup in an otherwise pleasant meal. Sam ordered the Breakfast Egg Sandwich and I chose the Chickichanga. Both were served with the most delicious seasoned potatoes and fresh fruit. We shared bites and agreed the sandwiches were good, though probably not something we'd order again next time. The highlight for us was the blueberry corn muffin with lemon butter -- truly heavenly! The restaurant itself was roomy, bright, and very clean, and all the staff seemed welcoming and pleasant. Breakfast out is one of my all-time favorite things and while Saturday mornings aren't always the best time to try for it, it worked out for us this past weekend. Nine a.m. and there was no wait at the location across from Legacy. Folks were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We both ordered variations on the bacon and eggs standard -- one with a waffle, one with a pancake, and a side of toast for dipping. Our server asked how we liked our bacon -- what a welcome question! I've never been asked such a thing. My partner said crispy, and I said, not crispy -- but cooked, not raw please. To me, crispy means crunchy, breakable. I like a little flex, but without fat that you still can see through. Does that make sense? Her crunchy looked perfect to me, my not crispyy/not raw was not quite. I need better vocabulary for describing what I'd like. Perhaps crispy is it? Eggs were perfect. Sourdough toast was perhaps passed momentarily over a flame, but not toasted. The strawberry jelly was tasty. The pancake was huge and the warm syrup, a delight. The waffle, very nice and the warm fruit compote very yummy. The coffee also was very nice. Overall, maybe on par or a step above Village Inn -- except for the people. Easily the worst breakfast that I've ever had in the entire Omaha metropolitan area. I ordered the Farmhouse Hash with a tall glass of orange juice. The problems with the hash involved the potatoes, which were very overseasoned. The bacon was tough and tasted like it had been cooked yesterday and warmed up today in a microwave. The orange juice was not freshly squeezed and had a lingering aftertaste. Ugh. The ambiance is cookie-cutter bland, i.e, the decor that you find in all of the chain breakfast restaurants. We had breakfast at this location for the first time. Since other First Watch locations are always good, we thought this would be as well, and it was. I ordered my usual Frittata Rustica and it was delicious as expected. The big pile of greens is usually dressed but these were plain, which I actually didn't mind. The toast was still warm since the order came out so quickly. Bookguy ordered items from the chalkboard-- gingerbread donut holes and a steak and bacon breakfast burrito. The serving of donut holes was generous and the dipping sauces added to the flavor. We gobbled them up. Bookguy was not as happy with his burrito because he couldn't taste any steak. It was a generous portion too, so he left some behind. It had good flavor and he enjoyed it, but missed the steak. The coffee today was better than usual, so maybe they changed the brand. Bookguy ordered the citrus hibiscus punch, but he didn't like the dried fruit slice garnish or the sugar-rim on the glass. The drink was very sweet, which suited him. Great quick and easy brunch place! Was in town for a quick weekend and was in the area when I yelped a nearby breakfast/brunch place and came upon this pretty quickly. Easy parking, no wait even on a Sunday at 10:45am. Super great attentive but not annoying service. We sat on the patio on a hot morning and loved it. Delicious breakfast omelette and eggs benedict. The omelette comes with a great portion, fresh greens and tasty bread. Also ordered a side of bacon - always a good idea. They have a huge menu with everything that you could want or be craving. My first time going to one was in Louisville, KY and second time at this location. Actually came here because of the Louisville location, I enjoyed it so much. I love the freshly squeezed juices and the extremely large pancakes to start with. My go to is the farmhouse hash that has all my favorite breakfast items: bacon, potatoes, avocado, etc. Served with fruit and toast. The service is always great with kind service and quick service. Popped into First Watch for Sunday brunch. They are exclusively breakfast/ lunch spot open until 2pm. Three of us ordered bfast (Italian Omelet, Bfast Tacos, and Eggs Benedict) and two of us ordered lunch (Roast beef and Havarti sandwich and a southwest chicken salad) Perfect! We all thoroughly enjoyed our choices for the meal. My meal was the roast beef sandwich. It was served on a Parmesan toasted sourdough with melted havarti cheese and roasted onions and tomatoes. Oh my goodness. I have never had a sandwich like that and it was absolutely delicious. First Watch has a couple of locations in the area. I can't speak for the others, but the one here at 168th and Center has good service. Definitely recommend you give this place a try if you haven't already. read more

We were looking for a brunch place to go with our dog for a couple hours and first watch did not disappoint. Once we arrived we got seated immediately outside with our dog. The iced coffee was really good and recommended by my daughter. The hot coffee on the other hand was extremely bitter and nowhere lived up to the hype of the description online or on the menu. Both pancakes were good, however, the banana granola pancake was amazing. We did really didn't like the full slivers of carrot in the carrot cake pancake. The hubs downed the chickichonga, didn't even give me a bite, and said it was fantastic. I am a sucker for eggs benedict, but, kind of wish I went with the classic. The bacon wasn't too great with the acidity of the hollandaise sauce which did have a little too much lemon in it (and I LOVE lemon). However, I really liked the addition of the arugula. The side of potatoes was really good and had a nice crispiness on some of them. One of the biggest downfalls of First Watch was the service. I don't know why, but, our server just was extremely slow. She was slow coming to the table and getting our drink order, she was slow bringing out the drink order, she was slow bringing out the food and checking on us throughout the entire meal. After learning about First Watch from my buddy Sammy, imagine my surprise when I learned that there was a location less than two miles from my home, and six in the Omaha metro area. Man, this is my kind of spot. This attention to detail restaurant has a delicious looking menu, but of particular interest to me is the Healthier Side section. The first item that grabbed my attention was the Avocado Toast, a basic recipe that has caught my fancy in the last couple of years. With good bread and a fresh and ripe avocado, you need nothing else other than a little salt and pepper. And that's exactly what you get. No need to tinker with perfection. My friendly waitress informed me that the multigrain bread is baked in-house and available for purchase. I kid you not, it's one of the best, heartiest, most delicious breads I have ever had with what appears to to flax seed and other healthy items embedded inside. After I wondered about the nutrition information out loud, my amazing waitress went to the back and snapped a picture for me so I could put it on my phone and take it home. Unfortunately, each slice has 200 calories, so I'll only be buying the bread for a very special treat every now and then. First Watch is very generous with the avocado too, which makes sense for the hearty slice of bread that it is slathered on. I'm sure they must use a full avocado, as contrasted with the half that I use at home. It's at least a half inch thick, maybe more. I also ordered a cup of tomato basil soup, which was easy on the calories and carbs, and absolutely on point. The dish also comes with two perfectly cooked basted eggs, the way my dad used to like them. There are six other items on that section of the menu that I look forward to trying. Listen, it's not easy to find restaurants that are thoughtful enough to provide such an extensive section for healthy eaters. I'd love to see First Watch rewarded with a continuing increased customer base. Bravo! read more

I like this place. Well-trained staff and attentive management. The coffee and potatoes are excellent. However, I have issues with the Eggs Benedict. The eggs were medium when they should be very soft, meaning you need to specify how you want them. The Hollandaise is very scant meaning you need to specify how much you want. The restaurant is a tad chilly. I like it that way, but my wife would not have been comfortable. The chill affects the food. By the time I finished, the eggs were cold. They should heat their plates even if to hold them under the hot water faucet. Their cold, heavy ceramic plates literally suck the heat out of the food. I give it four stars because of the promise, but if my breakfast gets unreasonably cold the next time, it will be fewer stars. read more

My wife and our kids had the pleasure of trying out this place last week for breakfast while we were in the area. They were moderately busy but we were greeted by such positive and upbeat staff and seated right away. Our server was amazing and brought an entire coffee carafe over to the table and took our kids order while my wife and decided on our food choices. The flavor was very good. The portion size was just right . My wife, son and daughter all ordered omelets. We were all pleased with the quality and freshness of our meals. What a great find. My husband and I were excited to find this restaurant. The menu is unique and quite inspiring. There is something for everyone. I had the avocado toast with fruit and this was amazing, it was at least an inch piled high with avacado. My husband had the trifecta, one waffle, 2 eggs, and sausage. We both had the morning meditation drink, delicious. The staff was great! My only negative note: it was too cold to sit inside.. We went here twice on our trip to Omaha. The first time was just my wife and me. The second time we brought my sister-in-law, her husband, and my father-in-law. I have to say the food and service were very good. Our first time there, I had their "Traditional Breakfast" - two poached eggs, potatoes, link sausages, toast, and jam. I don't remember what Kerrie had but we did splurge on the Million Dollar Bacon (wow). The second time, we all had different things. I tried the Asian Pork Belly Breakfast Bowl. The first time we went there was an off-hour and we were seated immediately. The second time was the height of Sunday Brunch. You can get on their waiting list through the Yelp app, which we did. When we arrived, there was a fairly long line but we only waited a few minutes. Service is fast - they need to move people through but we didn't feel rushed. The food was very good. And, the presentation was nice. (Sorry that I didn't get any pictures...) Everyone seemed happy with their food - no complaints from anyone. On a final note - try the Million Dollar Bacon. It was a solid...aight. We went with our family of 6 yesterday morning (Monday) to try out this new location for the first time. Having had First Watch on Maple a long time ago, we had some general expectations for this place. Decent food, good service, and a generally cozy atmosphere. I would say this new location hit 1.5 of those 3 marks during our visit. Let's start with the good. The inside is beautiful! New, cozy, inviting, and the perfect atmosphere for brunch. Props to whoever designed and decorated that space, looks like a dream. We were immediately sat in a booth behind the hostess station upon arrival. Our waitress came over and greeted us for drinks. I would say that shortly after that initial greeting, things just went downhill. I'm not sure if they were understaffed, she forgot about us, or maybe didn't care, but we had to flag her down several times to do basic things like 1. Get Water 2. Order our food 3. Ask for syrup with our pancakes. Again, these are pretty standard things for serving 101 but it felt like such a struggle to get decent service. Even the other servers who dropped off our food or walked by our table were more accomodating than her. I also think she lacked knowledge of the menu. I ordered the multigrain pancakes and they looked like standard pancakes (not the darker color of whole wheat and seedy texture I expected) so I asked her if these were the right ones and she told me that "All our pancakes are multigrain". That seems weird that you would advertise multigrain and not distinguish the other are also that in the kids menu, etc. My husband got an omelet and per the picture, looked like it would hash browns but instead got a salad. Again, not mad at all and the salad probably did him good, BUT it the fact she mentioned AFTER THE FACT that you need to "opt in" for the potatoes because salad was standard. When our food was dropped off, it was strange that she only asked my husband how his omelet was....the other 5 of us got food too. Just a lot of little things like that over the course of the meal that really adversely affected our experience. Food just always seems to taste better when there's good customer service. Their food is tasty but on the healthy side so if you want a hearty breakfast you might not be fully satisfied! My favorite location in the Omaha area. Food is ALWAYS amazing, the only issue we come across is who I'm assuming is one of the managers (every time she is there, there's an issue, anyone else we've talked to is really sweet). We have a CMC which means we get half off at this restaurant. She tried arguing it's only for one meal, the card clearly states not, and today when we went she only gave us half off one meal, instead of 2, keeping in mind we ONLY got 2 entrees, no drinks, nothing else. If you have a CMC make sure your receipt is correct before walking off. I'll make it 5 stars if she's fired, she's on a power trip and I can't imagine how the employees are treated by her. read more
