First Watch is a.l.w.a.y.s a good idea. Yes, they're usually slammed, but they're worth the wait. At this West Omaha location, we were waiting 15 minutes before a table opened up this morning. Once this delay was over, everything was at warp speed. The server was prompt with the menus, my coffee, and taking our breakfast order. Within 5 minutes, the food actually arrived. The Eggs Benedict had a lighter tasting hollandaise and the eggs were poached well, not overcooked at other breakfast places. The coffee was a strong medium blend which I prefer for morning alertness. The service was excellent and the food was good. I really like this place! The food is fresh and delicious always! The decor is super adorable! My issues with this place consistently have had been with the service. There always seems to be a big lag from when I get seated to being greeted. Sometimes I can appreciate a leisurely approach but it makes me wonder if they know I haven't been waited on. My favorites are the morning meditation and the avocado toast with poached eggs. They usually do a good job with a runny yoke on the eggs but sometimes it is a little more done than I would prefer. I love their lemon curd pancakes too! Those will satisfy you for two meals, if you can make it that far, they are large but so good!! My kiddos really enjoy their sides of fruit and eggs pretty consistently. I've ventured out of the breakfast menu a few times for lunch and the sandwich and salad combo was pretty delicious!!! Nothing here is ever bad and relatively fairly priced so I will for sure keep coming back. read more

I loved that this place has such amazing food after doing a revamp of the decor and menu. My friends and I decided to come here for a Sunday brunch and we were not disappointed! The service was great. We got our drinks quickly and he was very attentive. I like how the menu has a variety of different foods. I know it is a breakfast joint, but the amount of option available is refreshing. I got the breakfast tacos with homefries. I was nervous at first because it said Mexican seasoning, and i've gone to other places that advertise the same- it doesn't not taste like it. However, everything on the plate was seasoned nicely. The tacos had eggs, chorizo, cheese and avocado. The side I got was homefries and they were not deep fried and still crispy! I love the new decor and the new menu. This is definitely one of the best breakfast places I have been to in Omaha! Went here on a Sunday morning around 10am, and we were able to get sat right away. Very clean and well decorated. It is a place I would bring guests if they came to town to visit. We had a great server, her name Carmen. She was super helpful and was able to suggest some very tasty options. I had a special, the chicken Chimichurri hash and my girlfriend had the healthy turkey. My meal was AMAZING!!! It was layered, potatoes, chicken and then topped with over medium poached eggs! Drooling thinking about it now.... the healthy turkey omelette was pretty good as well. Not drenched in butter and oil and well balanced with the spinach and tomatoes. Overall 10/10!!! I'm a big fan of First Watch. They have a more interesting breakfast menu then just about anyone else around town. The food is always enjoyable. This location did not disappoint. I don't think you can go wrong with anything here. Though you should probably skip the sweet decadent french toast and be more reasonable with the salad and omelet. Visited a few days ago with my friend and saw my older 2 star review! This visit merited an upgrade and update. It wasn't very busy but service at times was slow, like when we were trying to leave, but they were shorthanded. Our waitress was one of the most friendly I've had in a long time and everything was to our satisfaction that was in her control. My friend and I both ordered the same thing, an omelet, and thought they were a little dry. I joked that probably that meant they were at least real eggs after recently hearing how another popular breakfast place uses some kind of psuedo egg mix with pancake mix for their omelets. My friend suggested we add hollandaise sauce to ours so we asked the waitress for some. This was a minor mistake, the hollandaise was super lemony in flavor. Not what you'd expect. It didn't make the omelets inedible but they definitely weren't the best. But hey, that was also kind of our fault for not trying the sauce first before adding it!!! read more

First time coming here, lovely experience. The atmosphere is rustic, very aesthetic and it's a large place so there's no crowding. I ordered the BLTE and it was AMAZING. It's basically a BLT + an egg. Good bread, great eggs and it came out fairly fast. The tomato soup seemed like it was probably canned, so I wasn't a big fan. My girlfriend ordered the sweet honey pecan salad and said the dressing was warm and it was the best salad she's eaten. We were shocked, "how can a salad be SO good?" I'm happy First Watch opened this new location out west. I've been to the 72nd and Pacific location several times and always enjoyed the food. It was always so busy there, but worth the wait. Today was the grand opening of First Watch on 168th and West Center. They had plenty of workers today, to help with the flow of their first day. We were instantly greeted and had the door opened for us as we walked in. It was busy (considering there's a Husker home game at 11am), but we were seated right away. Even though it was obvious some servers were still getting the hang of things (which is understandable), the service was friendly, quick and efficient. Only difference here is you pay at the cashier up front versus with the server at the other location. Today I tried the Fall Special "Pumpkin Pancake Breakfast" which came with two eggs, chicken apple sausage and one large pumpkin pancake. Everything was fresh and tasty. This is a great place with plenty of healthy options for breakfast/brunch. Excellent food and service as always, glad First Watch finally opened a location out west! read more

First Watch Daytime Cafe is a cute little place on busy 168th street in an ever growing plaza of retail and food businesses. It's an older plaza with a newer identity that reflects the growing vision of Omaha's "West O" and an extension of Legacy/Lakeside, and serves as an wonderful option for business lunches, brunches and breakfasts, as well as serve the neighborhood. Seating wise, it's pretty big for a cafe, and the space reminds me of a nice Panera, although the food menu reflects a much better array of choices. They have so many options that would satisfy a greasy spoon lover, health nut, and trendy eater. I can see how some could complain that that flavors are not as intense, I do feel like they pay attention to the grease, sodium and fats here. It's definitely not a greasy spoon diner in umami respect, but you'll leave feeling a lot better about yourself and the tastes and portions are still adequate in my opinion. Also, they have morning cocktails and a few fresh pressed juices to choose from, which I like a lot. Service was friendly but minimal, with the check dropped at our table shortly after we got our food. The atmosphere was cheery, quiet, and really a mix of types of patrons. Highlights on the menu for me so far include the avocado toast (very reminiscence of California), their sausage and gravy benny, griddles, etc, and the eggs Florentine benedict. There is obviously a lot more ground to cover with this menu, and I look forward to future visits. read more

This cute farm to table establishment has many locations in Nebraska. The vibe is farmhouse modern and very welcoming. If you're a fan of coffee you're going to love this spot - they brew a carafe just for you. Only downfall I would've preferred some organic half and half opposed to the non-dairy options they offer (which is great for those that need that). My option was creamer in those mini plastic cups. I ordered the works omelette with Udis gluten-free toast (with no additional charge) and it came with a side of fresh greens - my fav!! First Watch is a modern breakfast restaurant that focuses on lighter, healthier breakfast offerings. It's very different from many of the pure diners that you see in Omaha and the menu/portion sizing/ingredients are all quite different (than say, a place like 11 worth Cafe). All in all, I enjoyed my 'The Works' omelette (basically an omelette with everything in it). It's pretty hard to screw up an omelette and it was probably slightly above average. I think I like wheatfields omelette a bit more; but the value is better at First Watch. The Farmhouse skillet hash was well done and I enjoyed the entire combination of the potatoes, avocado, egg, and bacon. Most of the dishes were fairly well done and I have few complaints. I actually think that Over Easy a mile away is a somewhat comparable restaurant (I like O.E. a bit more). If you go to First Watch, go there knowing you'll have some healthier/smaller portions but the food won't be much different than your normal spot. The value was fair. Expect to pay $10 per plate and be full after you are done (but not so full that you need a leftovers box like you would at 11 worth). I would say that First Watch is solidly in the middle category of breakfast places in Omaha. It's behind saddle creek breakfast club and 11worth Cafe (for varying reasons), but it's clearly ahead of IHOP, Egg & I (which this actually took the location of), and Village Inn. I would put it ahead of some other places in Omaha as well, such as Vidlaks. read more

There was nothing large enough to taste or bite into, more like dust or grit, and no savor whatsoever. The biscuit (singular) was ultra thin and dense, did not even taste fresh. Awfully disappointing. The cook was unfamiliar with "scrambled LIGHT" eggs, came out hard and dry, and the portion was scant enough to make one wonder if someone had sampled a bite. The seasoned potatoes were bland and overall the smallish portions and lack of quality didn't match the $11 price tag. Finally, the Bloody Mary was just odd for what little taste it had. Never disappointed in first watch! A little bit on the pricer side for a enjoyable breakfast in town, but the food has never disappointed any of us. I usually order a traditional-breakfast and the eggs are always nice and fluffy, bacon cooked properly and toast never disappoints. I generally order mine with water to drink, the coffee drinkers we usually dine with never complain about the coffee. The place can get pretty busy on a Saturday/Sunday morning so be expected to wait if you arrive at that 9:45-11:00 rush timeframe. The waiting area isn't very big so it oftentimes gets very crowded with little room to move around or even get through when trying to exit. This is especially bad when the weather isn't favorable. We usually try to hit the place earlier in the morning and beat the rush. We've never been dissatisfied with he service we receive. read more

There is water and coffee for you while you wait for 5-15 minutes and better yet if you have no wait there is awesome servers ready to get you seated and started with drinks! The menus are super cute I wish they had pictures but that's why you have yelp! I totally forgot my servers name because I was so intrigued by the food. I had the pumpkin pancake and my bf had the chorizo and chili omelet that was a good size! Got me so full!! He thought he would only finish half as well and ended up finishing the whole thing. (Whipped eggs with spicy chicken, chorizo sausage, green chilies, Cheddar and Monterey Jack, onions and avocado rolled in a flour tortilla.) Order it - you'll thank me later. It's also served with seasoned potatoes, which were surprisingly so good. I've also had the Smoked Salmon & Roasted Vegetable Frittata (Smoked Sockeye Salmon, house-roasted shallots and tomatoes topped with Parmesan cheese, a chive cream drizzle and fresh herbs with ciabatta toast) & the Pesto Chicken Quinoa Bowl.
