I'm not the cruel type (cruel = weakness, only the strong can be kind--I know because I was once cruel). At the same time, underwhelming is underwhelming and I must report the facts. Fortunately, there is something about JB's that is excellent. I'll save the best for last. In the meantime, I'd like to give you a piece of advice. If you ever go to Iowa and people tell you, "This place has great pizza," please remind yourself that Iowa is great for a few things (primarily steakhouses, methheads, and tornados), but pizza isn't one of them. I took this local advice and got the pizza at JB's. If you know pizza, then as you can see from the picture, it's not very appetizing. I struggled to eat the first slice, ate half of the second, and then decided to give away the rest. I figured that would be easy due to 'amazing' pizza but it wasn't. I went up to five people before the sixth person couldn't believe I was giving him a pizza. The Turkey sandwich tasted like something you would pack for a climb up Mt. Washington in NH so you could eat it at the peak. The good news: This place is really an amazing bakery that also serves food. If you're looking for baked goods, go here! I was very impressed. The service was also pretty good. It depended who was working but it's the Midwest and you will mostly find kindness. And while you might find great food in some places in Iowa, it will not be found in Council Bluffs. Even traveling poker dealers say this often (good stop but terrible for food). I'll be posting some food reviews in near future as it's a way of reliving adventures I lived in the poker world for years. In fact, I have very likely lived a more adventurous life than any breathing poker player over the past six years. It had its costs but would I change anything? Hell no! Also, I don't know what the next chapter will be, but it will also involve adventure. I got a little off-topic there. I have written entire books about these adventures and I have no plans on writing any books for years so I might be adding little tidbits here and there on Yelp.

We went there last night for Bingo and had a horrible time. Bartender was drunk, waitress was drunk, bingo announcer was drunk. This is unacceptable behavior for a restaurant or any business. My wife caught the dark haired bartender doing drugs in the bathroom stall, granted she was playing Bingo but still DRUGS. The manager was there also drunk and did not seem to care at all about anything that was going on. Very disappointing since there are not many places to go in Council Bluffs. The last straw was when we received our tab we were over charged and had drinks on our ticket that were not ours. Instead for arguing with the drunk bartender we paid and left and we will never be back. Plus, the way the manager and other patrons and bartender talk about people is pathetic and disgraceful. Do not go if your looking for good service and to have a good time. Very sad read more

Horrible service, bartenders were drunk and talking about other customers calling them uncalled for names. Our food order was never taken. Watched the bartenders drink shots and not care about the business. Horrible attitudes, never in my life have I seen such unprofessional behavior. The way they were bashing a young women yesterday was to say the least ignorant. The brunette bartender was on something and was rude, her jokes were uncalled for. Would like to comment on food but order was never taken, the blonde bartender came and we watched her also down shots and talk about customers. Good thing we learned about this behavior before we brought the family in for dinner. Would never ever want our family to be involved or talked about in this way. read more

This place is an absolute joke. First off the Bartender was rude, disorganized, and seemed like she was on something. We sat there for 10 minutes before she knew we were there. She could not figure out how to ring 2 drinks but did figure out how to slam 2 shots. She sat in a corner and talked about other people sitting in the bar! By the time she came back we seen enough and left. Good thing we came and seen what this place is really about before trying to rent it out for a party. Not ONE sober employee at all. Friends with their children were there on Labor Day & the owner went to their table & slammed her hand on the table, yelled at their children & walked off. When they posted on the website about how rude & unprofessional this was the owner has responded with addition ridiculous comments that make no sense. These are good kids & even if they were loud the appropriate way to handle this is to talk to the parents. This owner is either a complete drunk (based on her incoherent posts) or needs counseling/medication. read more
