We arrived after the lunch hour on a Monday. There were still several patrons coming and going.

Henry's Diner looks like it has been around for many years. Based on our experience, this place will be around for quite a while to come. There were still several patrons on a Monday even after the lunch hour. Many of them seemed to be regulars there. Service was friendly and efficient. The menu had a nice selection of appetizers, sandwiches, and dinners. There were also 4 daily specials -- I choose the Meatloaf dinner (good) with sides of Ham & Bean Soup (excellent) and American Fries (otherwise known as country potatoes -- also delicious). My wife had the Henry's Philly which had plenty of prime rib, peppers, cheese, and onions work a side of Onion Rings. Both were delicious! We had barely enough room to share a piece of Peach Pie. Double crusted with homemade whipped cream. It was a great finish to our meal.

Stopped over in Crescent IA last night after some errands last night. Sounds this little joint not to far north off the main left turn. Their honey rolls and butter are amazeballs! And who doesn't dig club crackers?! It's been a while! T snagged the ribeye, side of spaghetti and potato. Griddle cooked. Cooked to how he likes it. Said it wasn't bad. Pretty sure he dug the spaghetti over the ribeye because that went FAST and comments about the sauce were made! I grabbed the Henry's Club Sandwich. Next time I'll have to ask for no lettuce because there was a TON of lettuce on it. Side salad and onion rings for the two sides. Those onion rings reminded me a lot of my favorite burger joints' rings, super good and flaky. The salad... I too had a hair (black and curly)... I couldn't bring myself to finish it so kindly moved that to the side. I can do a lot of things, but hair mixed with creamy dressing doesn't do it for me. Of course we grabbed their strawberry rhubarb (Ts) and a lemon pie (I loooove lemon) to go and both were excellent! Honestly all and all, the staff were amazing, I just wasn't overly impressed with the food. But I'll give them a second chance for sure, and see if not getting a short and curly, bumps them up a star or so. Sweet little drive for sure though!

BYO Omelet - bacon, tomato and opinion with Swiss cheese

Nothing finer than to be at Henry's Diner for Sunday Breakfast. I had a BYO omelet - bacon, tomato, onion and Swiss cheese with raisin toast. Dad had biscuits and gravy. He brought home half of his and I brought home about a third of mine. Service is always welcoming and complete. Atmosphere is small down, down home

I was born and raised near Crescent, IA and I love coming to Henry's whenever I come home to visit. I can't tell you what all is good here because I always get the same thing -- their massive hot beef sandwich! A Midwest favorite and Henry's does it better than anyone else. One taste of the gravy and you know you've hit the mother load. My wife gets their chicken-fried steak which they bread themselves and she says it's the bomb as well. Our servers have always been kind, attentive, and diligent. They have large glasses which I enjoy and quickly get me refills before I run dry. Love this place!

I've only been once so far, and I did takeout, but even like that the food was amazing. I definitely need to go back and actually sit down and eat there. The space is a little small and seating is limited, so if you want a table you either have to go early, avoid rush hours, or just be patient and wait it out. It seems like one of those spots that stays busy. The staff was super nice, friendly, and even funny. I also loved their coffee, it was really good. For food, my boyfriend got a bagel breakfast sandwich and I got a toast with egg, goat cheese, and sun-dried tomatoes. That toast was so good, easily my favorite! The eggs were cooked perfectly, at least for me. Everything we had was delicious, and honestly everything I saw coming out to other tables looked really good too. The place itself is really cute. I love the decor and the overall vibe. It's just a really nice spot for breakfast. I'll definitely be going back to sit down and enjoy the full experience next time.

You order up at the front and have the different bread options up at the counter for you to choose from. They give you a number, then bring your food out to your table. They had focaccia the first time I came around 12PM and that was so fluffy, and with the sweet and savory sausage, it was fabulous! If they have it in the morning, the jalapeño cheddar bagel, had the perfect spice kick and texture. Great crunchy outside and soft on the inside, chefs kiss. This is a smaller spot, so seating is kinda limited, but it's super cute on the inside! Pink and has greenery along the window seal, so sitting the by window is a peaceful vibe. Waking up early to come here is definitely worth it!

On entering, I noticed the tiles on the floor. But once you get inside, you are astounded by the suspended wooden ceiling piece. Nothing else like it in Omaha. A signature detail. Worth every penny. The windows are perfect. We were on the west side. The shades can be lowered. They were lowered for a bit, but then raised. I appreciated the natural light so I could better enjoy my date's stunning beauty. She is a perfect combination of Southern charm, beauty and a razor keen intellect. The overall zeitgeist of the restaurant is that of a sophisticated NYC or West Coast restaurant. Great wine list with a superb collection of high quality wines that won't break the bank. The sommelier showed up, but we decided on an old favorite. Good to know that her knowledge was available. My charcoal chicken was fabulous; a very unique and flavorful taste. My date had the bolognese and she enjoyed it. She had the cheesecake and I had the chocolate cake. She had tea and I had coffee. It was an extremely memorable evening. I hope they never get rid of the milk & cereal sundae because I'd go just for that! Our friend has the flat steak and said it was absolutely incredible. So the feel of it is old town diner vibes along with the kindness that also goes along with service from decades ago. When we moved into the area one of the favorites of the previous owners was Harold's Koffee House. We knew we had to try it! Each time we've gone we've always liked our food and the coffee is pretty good too. I've since gone with my sister, boyfriend, and also picked up a dozen of their homemade doughnuts as well. I usually like their corned beef hash but also tried their eggs, meat, and toast meal too. As you can see by the photo added the hot chocolate is worth a try too! This Breakfast/Brunch gem features a U shaped bar flanked by booths on either end of the room. Walking into this place feels like walking into a Time Machine from when it was opened in 50s or 60s (website said 1968). Regardless it hasn't changed much and that's the charm of it all. The background story of who Harold was captures the American spirit and the wall decorated with his war medals brings it all home and bolsters the charm of this place. In addition to Harold's story, the business also has some Hollywood charm. We sat diagonal from the booth that Jack Nicholson sat in for the 2002 film "About Schmidt" where he played a retired insurance agent from Omaha (the film was also mostly filmed on location). You'll know if you're in the booth because there is a gold plaque commemorating the booth. The servers were fast and friendly. This diner is known for their homemade cake donuts, cinnamon rolls, and pecan rolls; we unfortunately did not partake as we were too full. Prices were reasonable and as stated before, you get a lot of food. Bottom line: if you need a brunch spot and you have the time, go check out this dime of a diner...you won't regret it.
