I always come here when I am looking at amazing items in the gas station it is in called Sapp Bros. I love looking at all the cool figurines and fluffy blankets they have. This was my 1st time in an Apple Barrel and it did not disappoint. The restaurant was clean. The staff was very friendly and the food was really good and delivered hot and fresh to our table. The only negative thing I can say is that parking is limited. I think it's because there is a hotel next door and they park in the parking lot of the travel center that the restaurant is in. Good place for breakfast. Both hubby and I ordered biscuits and gravy. He got his with scrambled eggs (looked like an omelette, but without any additions) and hash browns. I figured with the the biscuit, I surely didn't need hash browns TOO! So, I got an my eggs over easy with an order of bacon, VERY crispy. They did cook the bacon good for me. We stopped in for lunch. There were several waitresses working. We sat down at our table and 15 minutes went by without anyone even asking us for a drink order. Then 2 more people came in and sat down and had drinks on their table and their order taken in less than one minute. Either we were completely invisible or they need better waitresses. We waited another 5 minutes and then got up and left. That was 20 minutes wasted. There were only 5 tables that had customers. They weren't even busy. read more

Atmosphere - It is a restaurant located within a truck stop. It has the basic feel to it. If you ignore that fact, it is a simple diner. Nothing special just the basics to get it done. Food Drink - Coffee and my mug never went dry. Breakfast - Cheesy Egg Sandwich which I selected the sour dough bread, pepper jack cheese, and sausage. Simple breakfast sandwich but so good, and very messy. Service - She was great. She was also managing a credit card machine issue, it was not communicating with the bank. This place is fantastic. Imagine an eatery that is not afraid to serve its own ketchup. A very good ketchup, too. They have a great menu. Anything from "just coffee + warm bun" all the way to the steaks. The food is fresh and tasty. The prices are too low for that quality. They have about 100 seats capacity which is packed in the morning! No wait though. The service is out of this world as well. It's like they KNOW they are that good. read more

We were driving through today and the reviews on yelp are good so we thought we would stop for lunch. Our granddaughter had pancakes and they were nice and fluffy and good. My wife and I stopped here for breakfast on Feb 18 while visiting the Omaha, Ne/Council Bluff, Iowa area. The food was great but they were very short staffed this particular morning. However, the staff that was working, our waitress was Kimmie, were going full speed ahead trying to get orders taken and food served. All together from the time we set down to the time we checked out was about an hour. First came in here last night. Ordered a burger with Swiss cheese and mushrooms. The night cook seems to be a dummy as he doesn't understand the mushrooms are to be grilled not raw. Even Burger King, McDonalds etc understand this. But the reason for the extra star is because I came in this morning for breakfast. When this was the original sap bros the restaurant was great. Now that it's new, the food is terrible. I've went there twice these past two months because my niece likes to go here for chicken tenders. The first time I ordered three classic breakfast and I found hair in my hash browns. The second time I got the club sandwich there was two different color hairs in it as well. Unless you want to digest some hair I don't recommend you come here. read more

I had to lol at some reviews on a few sites about Apple Barrel. Duh ! Guess some ppl are picky eaters. If I don't make it there twice a month at least I'll go once a month ! All the girls are so nice, never had any issues with them. Upon ordering .. if they didn't have something .. Example.. Onion Rings (?) They will TELL you (!) a few times I requested several different thing (not all at one time) they'll be out of it and so I'd just get something other, no big deal ! These girls are human just like the rest of us and probably need to work just like the rest of us ! It's not the waitresses fault of their out of something.. come on ppl give them a B R E A K ! My usual is "Whiskey Steak and whatever sides with Eggs " ! It takes me to Heaven , just had it a couple days ago and would love to go back very soon for same. Evenings.. The Smothered Chicken is also very good. Havent really tried anything else yet. Next time I'm going to sit there in peace and get my usual. I'm local so can go there anytime. I come in here quite a bit. Always get the Denver Omelet and it's always good. Prices are reasonable and the waitress is always nice. She keeps my coffee filled and makes sure I'm doing well. For a trucker, this is not your usual grease pit that you'll find at most truck stops. read more
