I've always loved McAlister's Deli, but sadly there is not one close to me anymore! This one in Council Bluffs does a great job every time I've been in, and this week for lunch was no different. It was clean, and my order was ready by the time I arrived for an online pickup. I ate my sandwich too quickly to take a picture but went with their bbq chicken crunch. It was a unique take on the bbq chicken sandwich with the chips added but it was still delicious! I'll be back to visit next time I'm in the CB area for lunch and definitely recommend you stop by as well! read more

Came in to pick up a small, quick lunch while they were at Cox. Decided on a kids cheese toastie which came with a bag of chips and a cookie. The cashier was professional and he brought my lunch to me as I waited on the bench on the side. The restaurant was not busy so it was nice and relaxing. Shared parking lot. Clean and welcoming. Toastie was a little dry but it was fine. They switched my chips out as the bag had a hole in it. read more

I love this place! A great option that is yummy food, yet doesn't make me feel like a balloon after eating. Pick 2 is a great option. Lemonade is amazing. We were out in the shopping area and decided to stop here for lunch. We haven't been here in a while but it was pretty good ! Service was quick and the place was clean. I tried a new sandwich. It was jalapeño Turkey crunch or something like that. It was tasty. Had chips on it for the crunch. And I always add chips to a sandwich so it was right up my alley. Potato soup was my side and that was nice. Just had to pepper it up and it was ready. My wife tried the black angus club with a salad. She loved it. Well 3rd strike and they are out.. Came for a quick bite while shopping and was even more disappointed that the first 2 times! My husband's wrap had about 2 tiny bites of meat and cheese on it- 80% of it was the wrap itself. He did not offer him a side but rather they gave my soup to him as a side. Every person working was grouchy and disrespectful. I understand short staffing issues but that is zero excuse for the service received today!! We will never be returning customers to the council bluffs, iowa location. My recommendation would be new management and restructuring of the employees that are left because rude employees should NOT be directly serving the public, put them in the back.. read more

Yep we are done with this location!!! Tried and tried again and this one tops it all. Resting bitch face with attitude behind the counter, my chicken wrap was about 5 inches long, so each half was a little older 2 inches with 2 bites of chicken (which tastes great) and 90% wrap. Guess I paid $8 for a dry rolled up wrap with a bite of chicken. My wife wanted a small cup of soup ad her meal which the lady decided to give me as my side, so I didn't get a side. Don't get me wrong. We love the food at McAlister's just not here ever again. And not it wasn't just us. The staff was crabby with most customers and many wrong orders went out which in turn pussed the staff off more to bark at customers. Replace the whole staff and start over would be my recommendation read more

I was looking forward to a good salad - ordered the asian crunch salad. The spinach was neither washed nor deveined. The greens and broccoli were warm and not at all crisp; it looked as if they pulled the spinach straight from a produce bag and threw it in a bowl. The salad was incomplete; it included neither cabbage nor carrots. The chicken was not "grilled chicken" but instead appeared to be thinly sliced chicken intended for sandwiches... and for this they charged nearly $12! Very disappointing. read more

I tried to call and preorder my food on my way to the deli. I had never been here before and wanted to try something new for myself and my family. When I walked in, I noticed there were tables that needed cleaned. Then there was no one there to greet me, only a very upset person who was impatiently waiting for his food. I thought it could be a misunderstanding and proceeded to wait and then order. The person who took my order was irritated that I didn't know what was on the menu, he was short with me when answering questions. 6 meals and $53 dollars later I waited. And waited. And waited. And then heard the girl tell the cashier not to take anymore orders because she and another person in the kitchen were cut. Then the line formed and formed and formed, yet the staff only told the first group waiting that they were not taking orders, which continued for 15-20 minutes. The order I received was not what I expected for the money. The kids meals were missing sides, and the adult sides were not good. i ordered food, barely got a tablespoon that cost MORE then the full size. The cashier wasn't very nice. I finished my food so fast i don't even remember what I got. And I think they over charged me. cost me thirty dollars even when i got two meals for 10 dollars and then there was no option for no tip. the potato soup wasn't that great don't recommend. read more

I love this restaurant! The food is wonderful and my favorite is the PecanBerry Salad! They can find fresh strawberries any time of the year! The only problem I have is in the evening I can never tell if it's open. The windows have a coating on them to keep it cool but instead I can't see inside. It needs an "Open" sign. I went to McAlister's Deli for the first time a couple days ago with some friends and it was a pretty good experience. I walked up to the counter to place my order and the employees were really nice. I ordered the BLT+A sandwich and I ordered the kids meal for my daughter, which was surprisingly pretty cheap. She got the Mac n' cheese, potato salad for her side, and an organic apple juice. Pretty nice kids meal for $4-$5 (don't remember exact price). The BLT+A was okay. You could tell they used cheap, probably pre-cooked bacon. There was also way too much lettuce on the sandwich. And I'm pretty sure they forgot the avocado. The kids meal was good. The Mac n' cheese was good and the potato salad was so-so. Tasted like store-bought potato salad. All in all, with the missteps, it was just okay. Not sure if I'll return. read more

Had the pick 2 salad and sandwich. The chopped salad had good flavor, however the salad was definitely NOT chopped - full leaves of spinach and big lettuce chunks. The Turkey sandwich with avocado was excellent. Arrived at the restaurant after 1:00 pm. There was a long line, almost to the door, and 2 people taking orders. It was very slow placing our orders, went back to order dessert 20 minutes later and waited in line again for quite a while. I'm not sure what slowed down the ordering process. read more

Never ate at a McAllister's before and had my wife april researching food spots while driving through council bluffs and this place had pretty good review so the family and I decided to give it a try. Oh my. These were some of the best sandwiches. Well stacked with meats and the bread was good quality. Had broccoli cheddar soup and Macand cheese and several sandwiches and alll tried each other's and even my picky eater was like this is the best sandwich ever and he got the ham and cheese. My New Yorker was meaty and juice. The club was fresh and crisp and the soup smooth same with the Mac and cheese. So good we just downloaded the app for finding more of these when we travel. read more

My family and I went to McAlisters community heroes night before they opened officially. The event was great! They had a photo booth, some fun music, and the entire staff was friendly and polite and knowledgeable. There were a lot of people there but staff did an amazing job cycling people through quickly all while providing great customer service. My wife and I both got the pick two. I had the OLE Spud and the roast beef and cheddar. The kids each had Pb&J and turkey and Cheese. I typically hate deli style places or sandwich shops. I never feel like it's worth the money when I can make them at home. I don't generally care for Panera or Jason's Deli and that kind of food but McAlisters was soooo good. The food was awesome. What pushed this experience into the 5 Star category was the tea. I love a good quality iced tea. I don't do sweet tea but I did have the strawberry purée and it was amazing. Terrible! We order a few times a month and dine in. Usually very good. This past Sunday...horrible. My order was to be ready at 5:45pm. Late. When the food came to my car. I CHECKED IT, my usual salad, had no chicken, had a smashed half slice of avocado, and no tortilla strips... the container was sticky. I called for a manager, she came out...didn't say anything. Finally after 10 minutes, I had a new salad. Got home, no pickle and both orders of fruit...had about 6 pieces. Called the store... he Manager, Makayla was horrible and REFUSED to give me contact information. She acted as if I shouldn't be calling them. I love this place! Their food is always amazing, and so is their service! My favorite is the club and strawberry lemonade. Their Cesar salad is a favorite too! So yummy (chicken makes it better!). I received a electronic gift card as a gift for McAlister's deli. Today was the day I decided to take advantage of my gift. The parking isn't the greatest. I suggest parking in the next lot over, an apartment complex where there are no visible signs of private or reserved parking and walking over to the deli. The restaurant is very clean and inviting but I was wanting a takeout order. The person in front of me decided to start arguing with the cashier over prices of each individual item which caused a backlog of people waiting to order. The extract minutes was really unnecessary and the manager should have gotten involved. Once my order was taken, it was about waiting for the arrival of the order. The turkey jalapeño crunch was fantastic along with the potato salad which made up for the longer than usual wait. Just hope you don't get a person who doesn't understand basic math in front of you and the ordering will hopefully move smoother. read more

Ordered via Door Dash - Opened the box and the first thing I saw was a dark black hair sitting on my sandwich. Now, I try not to be too picky but it was very obvious and could've easily been remedied before it was sent out the door. After I saw that, I was hesitant to finish and felt the need to look through the sandwich before eating it. Also found one under my pickle. Ordered Ham and Cheese melt, could've put less spicy mustard on.. made it hard to actually eat and enjoy rather than taking little bites and drinking something to help the intensity of the mustard. This location just opened recently, so of course, it's the new popular, busy place to go. My wife ordered online yesterday and paid online. When I arrived, the bag was sitting on the shelf with my name on it. I just grabbed it and left. That felt kind of odd, but it works. I had the chicken salad with pecans sandwich and it was great. I took my mother there this evening and we ate in. Another great sandwich, service was great and employees were very friendly. Will be back...but probably not every night. read more

I'm from out of town and this is the first time I've tried McAlister's (even though there's one back home). I will be going back when I get back home! Never realized how great the food is! I would definitely recommend a new serving style though. The plating makes everything seem so small and bare. Even with a sandwich and Mac and cheese on one plate, it didn't seem like anything was there. I also wish the employees interacted more with customers. Yes, we came at a busy time but even at the end of the rush there was one employee running around picking everything up. Really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere would be a lot better with employee's interacting with guests. Great place to go! read more

I went to this deli when it was first opened! Food was amazing, hot, fresh, and customer service was on the spot! I recently came back after a year, and when I received my salad it was browned on a few of the leaves. I went up and asked for a new salad, and the server was not cautious or empathetic about the situation, but had a rude/annoyed look on his face. When brought out to me, that same look was still there and it was loudly placed where I was sitting. I don't know what happened, but with working as a server and having customer service, this is not how I would treat my guests. Also, the turkey on my sandwich had a different taste, not fresh cut turkey but more or less the turkey you buy pre-packaged. Not worth the money. read more
