The French toast is deep fried and soaked in oil. The menu doesn't say that. Not good

Decided to stop in for a quick lunch on a Monday. I've been here once before, but it was quite a…read morewhile ago, so I didn't really remember the quality of the food. We were seated right away, and it was a perfect day to sit outside. The hostess let us know they had workers outside, but we were totally okay with the noise, which ended up being very minimal. We didn't order any drinks, but for food, I decided to try the birria grilled cheese, which comes with one side, and I chose fries. Not only did it look so appetizing, but it tasted AMAZING. The bread had some sort of seasoning on it that added so much flavor to the sandwich. The fries were seasoned exceptionally well too. I'll definitely be back sometime soon to try more items. The food today was 10/10, and our waitress was very kind and attentive as well.

We took the family to 712 Eat + Drink for lunch and overall had a good experience. The food had a…read morelot of promise, though a few dishes felt like they were just slightly off from being great. I had the Cubano sandwich, which was good overall, especially the smoky meat, but I think the coarse-ground mustard overpowered the flavours a bit and dulled the smokiness a bit. A plain yellow mustard might balance the sandwich better and let the smokiness shine through more. The sweet potato fries, however, were excellent. My wife Laura ordered Emily's Salad, which was pleasant and fresh, though we both thought it could have benefited from a little crunch--maybe some seeds or nuts added in. Our daughter Alex had the birria tacos and carne asada fries. The tacos were tasty, though a little on the small side, but the carne asada fries were fantastic. Umai! (I am a Rengoku fan; if you know, you know.) I highly recommend it. Our other daughter, Sam, ordered the birria grilled cheese and elote fries, and both were really good. Her cherryade was especially refreshing. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed, though the dining area and patio felt a bit bare. A few plants outside and inside would really warm the place up and give it more character. The music was pretty good with indie hits in there. I also tried the Old Fashioned. It was definitely strong, which I appreciated, but it felt like it was missing a touch of sweetness or something to round it out. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves, and I'd absolutely go back and try more on the menu. Their waitstaff was top-notch and really were on their game. The restaurant has good ingredients and solid ideas--it just feels like a few flavour balances could be dialed in a little more.

It wasn't busy at lunch, just a few tables and booths filled. The black and white checkered floor tiles, high-walled wooden booths, colorful tables, and brick walls give the small space an old timey vibe. Breakfast is served until closing and the lunch menu starts at 11. This day I had a patty melt and my friend had a western omelette. My patty melt was as expected and not huge, but just right. It came with potato chips but could have been upgraded to French fries or onion rings for an extra charge. I ended up taking half of it home. My friend's omelette came with hash browns and toast. The menu says you can order 1/4 or 1/2 an order of hash browns, but I don't think she did that because there were a lot of potatoes. It was a quiet and peaceful lunch, just regular everyday food, cooked well. We didn't leave room for dessert, but it might be a good idea just to come in for coffee and pie.

Highly recommend 1853 if you're at Ameristar Casino or looking for a great dinner spot in the area…read more It's an upscale restaurant located right inside the casino, and the food and service were both excellent. We sat at the bar and Connor took great care of us. He was funny, attentive, and made one of the best Moscow Mules I've had in a long time. For dinner, my boyfriend ordered the pork ribeye and I went with the pistachio and parmesan crusted salmon. Both dishes were cooked perfectly. The pork was tender and flavorful, and the salmon had a great crust without overpowering the fish. My favorite part may have been the sweet pea and lemon risotto. It was soooooo creamy and packed with flavor. Every bite was better than the last. The vegetables and accompaniments on both plates were thoughtful and well prepared. I can't stop thinking about the Brussels sprouts. They were so good I'd go back just to order a plate of those. Oh, and don't let me forget about the sliced French bread with the olive oil and garlic balsamic dipping sauce. Absolutely incredible. Great food, great service, and a really enjoyable dining experience overall. Connor, keep making those Moscow Mules!

Then proceeded to give someone (a random person) sitting at the bar our ids to check. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional. I get checking ids and that's great. I'm not bashing the food or and other service, because we didn't get any. I just don't appreciate my information given to random people. Between my wife and kids we ordered French toast, biscuits and gravy. A breakfast burrito and a breakfast skillet as well as coffee and juice and chocolate milk. The coffee had an off putting plastic taste to it and no I'm not a coffee snob it was way off. The biscuits and gravy tasted like it was out of a can. The breakfast burrito was small and instead of steak like advertised it has shaved beef like you'd expect in a cheap Philly or something. The waitress was very nice but was super busy so service was slow. If you are looking for a good breakfast spot in CB stick to Legends or Main Street and steer clear of this place.
