Little King is an Omaha classic. There's just something about the oil-and-vinegar on the shredded lettuce, and the combination of all the other flavors. It all works so well together - and normally I can't stand lettuce on sandwiches. I only ever get the Royal Treat so I can't comment on the other menu items. Except the big pickle. Really, really big. It was delicious but probably way more sodium than I need, especially alongside a meal of cured meats. My mouth is watering so much thinking about it. I will probably get it again next time anyway. I'm giving 4 stars because the way they stack the sandwich is kind of strange and difficult to eat, since the meat and cheese aren't folded. read more

I asked the owner a simple question about my food and him and the worker on shift turned it into a whole argument. If this is how they treat there costumers at this location they won't stay open very long. It was annoying having to argue with the workers about my order in front of other customers. Went to the Dodge Street location about 730 and ordered a foot long Italian. There was only one person working, so I knew I was not going to get a sandwich quickly. Oddly enough, it came out almost immediately. I got home and found out why. The meats and cheese base was obviously pre-made, stuck together like school glue, and at least 2 days old. Can you give a place a negative star rating? Based on my last visit, that is what I would of done if possible. I waited a day to post this to cool off and I am still upset on how we were treated. We have supported this store for years, even through Covid, this was one of our main stops. They changed their Customer Appreciation program 2 years ago and we signed up for the new program. It was not as good as the old one but it is what they have. They sent me an anniversary text the other day and it stated Little King Alert: Thanks for being a part of our program for 2 year! We went and ordered my favorite, the number 11. It started when at 2:00 they only had white bread, already out of all of there other breads. That was ok and we ordered our sandwich and had it made. When I presented the text, the lady asked her son what it was and he spoke to her in another language. She then took $2.50 off a $13 order. I asked why the discount was not $5 as the text said and she said you get 50% off of $5 and that is $2.50. I explained that is not what states and the son and mother started yelling at me that is what it says. Now the Dad comes over and is yelling that as well. I told them that is not what it said. They took the sandwich and said that they would give it to the homeless and not to come back. This is to a loyal customer of many years and when they were wrong. They are not appreciative of the customers and loyalty of the money spent there and to yell at a customer when you are wrong! I will never step foot in there again and suggest others to do the same. Not only could I not use my reward there, I could not use it at other Little Kings as I had to select it and it only allows a few minutes to use. Visiting from out of town, I woke up hungry for something of substance. I was the first customer of the day and very excited to get the royal treat aka the big daddy of Italian sandwiches! We were greeted by a friendly owners. I love how it's a family run operation and you can feel the care and service the provide to their customers. Everything was fresh and tasted amazing! After a day of eating queso, bbq, and all around parry food, it felt great to nosh on something fresh! Would def recommend and if I lived nearby I would be coming back often! Sandwich was piled high of fresh veggies and they didn't skimp on the meats and cheeses! Half a sandwich is more than enough to get me thru until dinner. read more

Nice family run Little King, very fresh (like a Deli has to be) and very good value. My favorite Deli in east Omaha area, every time I am here it is clean, with great service. I had a toasted BLT with pepper jack cheese, omy goodness, look out, amazing. My date had the Italian club also good, as they always are. read more

Poor little king worker...she was working alone on the weekend with a really long line. My sympathy extends to her. However, esp when you're making food right in front of the customer, you should be sure that you use clean practices when making their food. She swiped at her brow and hair a few times (no hairnet) and didnt change gloves between customers..I definitely had an onion taste on my bread which I didnt really care for since I didnt order any raw onions on my sandwich...but the guy in front of me did. She also rushed and just slapped a lot of the ingredients on the bread while making it. I want to believe this is forgivable bc she seemed really stressed out and it's not her fault no one is working with her on a holiday...but still. I do like that the deli meat and cheese is sliced super thin and freshly sliced for each sandwich. The sandwich we ordered and shared we actually really enjoyed, it was one of the king's favorites (royal treat) on the menu. It tasted fresh and for $5.25 also a little steep for the size (maybe 6-8 inches). Mixed feelings on returning. It does remind me of jimmy johns. read more

we ordered 3 sandwiches and a bowl of chili to have them delivere. when we received our sandwiches ALL 3 were wrong! I tried calling the store 3 times-twice was no answer and the 3rd I started by saying our sandwiches were wrong the owner told me they are NEVER wrong and I should just eat it. I told him 1 person was allergic to onions which rhey had put on all sandwiches and he repeated they NEVER make sandwiches wrong and told me to bring him the receipt and hung up on me. I went into the store and he yelled at me saying I was trying to get food for free-I had stated I wanted the sandwiches remade or any apology and he said NO WE ARE NEVER WRONG! Being a Little King fanatic, I have eaten at almost all the Little Kings in Omaha , NE. This is my second best. They are very welcoming when you get there. So I didn't have breakfast & it was lunch time so I was hungry. I originally set out from the Doubletree to go to Subway. But then I figured I could have Subway anywhere, I wanted something special. Whipped out my Android phone & found Little King. The dude working the counter was great! Provided information about their sandwiches, meats & the origination of the business 40 + years ago. I was trying to be healthy and ordered the #3 Grilled Mesquite Chicken on Wheat with lettuce, tomato, green pepper & brown mustard. Had to be a little naughty and add bacon to it. For some Nostalgic reason I decided to grab a Royal treat well needless to say nostalgia is dead here. Upon walking in one worker sitting in doorway to back area on his cell phone stood at counter he said he would be with us in a minute. Continued his phone activity the place was completely empty of customers should've been a sign but I stayed sandwich was nothing like I remember , and every table in the place needed to be wiped down the floors need to be swept glass stainless steel out front should be wiped a little too dirty for me. Weird mismatch lighting not that it matters but shows a sign of laziness for your business. Worker went back to phone entire time we were there no actual work ethic. I wouldn't go back here. It doesnt look very appetizing when you walk in, the meat is all wrapped in the front display fridge, but everything is actually fresh and delicious. Service is friendly. Great sub... if they say "the sandwich comes with the combo" that really means theyre going to upcharge you for the combo if you get it... i hate when they do that. read more

It was ok. I stopped because it has been a favorite in the past. I got the royal treat (actually 2 of them), a half meatball sub and a bowl of chicken tortilla soup. My 14 year old son liked the meatball sub. We shared to chicken tortilla soup and it was good. The royal treat was very bland. I have had them in the past and loved them. I think it was the tomatoes that were the problem. It was made correctly and the staff was very polite and professional. I will probably be less likely to stop there again as it was just OK and tasted much more like the competition than it did in the past. A disappointment. read more

Awesome! It's like that other sub shop that I won't talk about on here. I was susprised to be the only one here during lunch hour on a week day....I expected business people to be everywhere. Fortunately, that meant my food and service was quite good. The bread was fresh and tasty and the meats were sliced super thin but they still put quite a bit on. With chips and a drinik it was a little expensive, but I'd be willing to pay it just to come here instead of you know where else. I think they've recently changed ownership and management (again). They've struggled a bit in the past with customer service but the changes they've made recently are for the better. Friendly sandwhich builders and they have fresh brewed iced tea again, which makes me happy.
