This place was kind of off my radar when I lived in the Kansas City area for some reason, but it is now my favorite breakfast place! Hopefully going to make it there about once a month at least. The only problem is that they close at 2 PM. read more

Clean, fresh, and delicious! Eat at First Watch - get those three beverages with your breakfast or brunch - coffee, fresh juice, and water. Enjoy avocado toast or a traditional breakfast. I happen to love their oatmeal! Don't miss out. read more

traditional breakfast: waffle, bacon, 2 eggs... 2 very flat slices looked-like-card-board-cutouts-of bacon, "over-easy" eggs was half runny whites, waffle was okay, paid extra for maple syrup, the very warm fruit spread was good, got $5 off for eggs and replaced the a lump of scramble egg something (ask for scrambled) - turkey omelette was thin sliced lunchmeat with a sprinkle of feta in exact middle and dry as a bone, toast with no butter... a dive diner can at least do a decent over-easy fry; their good idea lacks quality control, not worth the price read more

After multiple trips to this place, I feel as if I "owe" them a review. Yes, this is a chain restaurant, but one that lives up to a high standard and does it well. It feels more like a local shop, and in a way, it is. I see the same servers time after time. And even though it may be a couple of months between visits, they still remember me. And my order! My go to is their crab Benedict, which is done quite nicely. While not the absolute best I've ever had (that distinction goes to a place in Key West!), this crabbie Bennie fills my needs. My adult kids also love this place. Just a bit of warning about the wait times. Yes, it can get busy and backed up quite a bit. They and I recommend using the Nowait app to reserve online your spot on the waitlist before you get there. Yes, the food is worth the wait, but wouldn't it be better if you didn't have to? read more

Excellent restaurant for breakfast/lunch. The food and service are excellent. Great place to eat

Great breakfasts; love their million dollar bacon and the pumpkin pancakes and the fruit tonics, great way to start the day.

Can't stay away! The food and service are always top tier. The seasonal menus - AWESOME.

Great place for breakfast or sandwiches and soup. The place closes around 2 PM everyday.

Made an 8 person reservation over the phone. The girl confirmed it and we showed up on time only to have them tell us that they don't do reservations. The gentleman at the front did a great job at accommodating us and trying to get us in asap. We ended having great service at both our tables from the waitress. Our father went up with both tabs to pay but I guess they only charged one tab. Only to get a call to come back to pay the other. We're from out of state and on vacation. They have fantastic food but the organization and communication at this place is such a mess. We don't want to skip out on the tab so we'll try to make it back to pay but this whole experience is beyond frustrating. So I highly don't recommend this place. read more

Great breakfast! It's a little higher cost, but a great treat. Recommend to the breakfast people out there.

Great food, service and atmosphere!! Such a great variety of fresh dishes to choose from. Normally chain restaurants can be on or off, but this was impressive. You can tell that they put a lot of time and care into what they do and their service/food. read more

Absolutely love this place. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is quite nice. I've always had mediocre service but the food makes up for it. On the pricier side. One other thing.. why the open kitchen? I was sat facing the kitchen and server expo area. I dont care to see them go in there and chat while i'm waiting on food. read more

We had breakfast at the Independence, MO location this morning. Our wait to be seated was brief. Our waitress was very friendly, conscientious (she noticed a spot on the table and grabbed a rag to clean it up - we hadn't even noticed) and efficient. Our food was served promptly and was perfectly done. Everything was wonderful read more

You can never go wrong with first watch. I'm a big fan of the eggs Benedict and the wife always get something healthy. Nothing is seems processed and the food is delicious. You don't feel weighed down when you leave. The coffee is good and endless with excellent service. I am not being paid to say this - LOL. I've only been to the independence one in 40 Highway & 291 in what I call the delicious food strip mall. Casa Mexico along with the Thai in that location always hits the spot. read more

One of my favorite breakfast stops. Service is great and food is very good. I like the refreshing kale/ginger drinks. You can taste the ginger too! Was about to leave and over heard a party of twenty eight coming in but the party called ahead. read more

Service sucks was put on list and watched four other people after us get seated. Said something and the hostess said we didn't show up when we got the message when we were standing right next to the hostess waiting. She then continued to check out 5 people and sit another two parties before I finally had to say something. Don't visit this location needs better service. Our server Morgan was great! read more

Took myself out to breakfast and it was not disappointing. Kale detox juice is always delicious! Service was great and I love the healthier options they give you! read more

I've been here a few times the food was pretty good. I was not a fan of the coffee, but the juices were good and the service was pretty ok. It was a very long wait. Husband and I waited an hour for a table on a Sunday. But all in all I came back a few times in-spite the wait. Hate to say it but Ihop dose not have a wait and has better service. But this place has healthier options. So it came down to that. If your on a diet it's worth the wait and the price . Price wise it's a lot more expensive then most breakfast places so be ready for that. read more

Haleigh would not recommend coming here the service is extremely slow but waiting in line for almost 30 minutes just to pick up a DoorDash order the part company here obviously is not too impressed every table looks like they're mostly empty and people waiting for food not really sure what's going on here will not be coming back to this location and will not be bringing friends read more

The food was food the service was not great and the wait was an eternity. This is one of two first watches we have had issues with. Service was barely existant and even with it being busy we hardly saw pur server. On top of that food took 45 minutes to get to our table and even then the staple i normally get was sub par ... breakfast tacos ... normally wonderful. Sadly this time one fell apart after i bit into it and the side of black beans might as well have been a soup. Only been to this location once but if this is the standard it was a disappointing one. read more

This was my first time going to this restaurant and I was extremely pleased with not only the food, which was INSANE. It was so great, I was mind blown. I think I said out loud a bunch of times "this is so amazing". But the real shining star was my waitress. She was so amazing, and so were all the other employees. The service was wonderful, the food was out of this world, and for the money, you get some crazy good food. I would tell everyone I know to go to this place. Amazing. Just to note: On the top plate is the ham and gruyere omelette with the breakfast potatoes. On the bottom plate was pancakes with ricotta I believe, and lemon curd with strawberries on top, scrambled cage free eggs, and chicken breakfast sausage. We also had the kale tonic juice, which was amazzinnngggg. read more

I always enjoy coming here. The food is great and the service is impeccable and the fact that they have free hot coffee available in the little breeze way helps also. If I have but 1 complaint it would be this, people who are waiting are packed in like sardines ...so why in the world do they not move to a larger location or have a second location in Independence? Ultimately this small issue will not stop me from coming here, no offense meant to some of the other breakfast places in Independence but this is the best. Oh also I would love to try one of those juices they have but not real sure I want to spend 3.99 if I don't like it, so how about a taste sample. read more

What a cute place!!?? It was a nice little change of pace. For it being a chain, it really exceeded my expectations! The food was great and the service was good for how busy it was. The options they had were different than your average breakfast/brunch place.. the food definitely tasted that of good quality and was not smothered in grease. I had a fancy, freshly squeezed beet juice and a bacon omelet with greens. It's easy to eat healthy here and still indulge a bit on a lazy Sunday.. read more

Enjoyable breakfast and lunch menu with different options than the usual diner--kind and personable servers who take pride in taking care of their customers. What a nice suprise. After two nights in a crappy hotel we needed something better then a waffle from a machine for breakfast. I have the market hash and a day glow carrot based juice. The Mini had a chocolate chip pancake. Everything was great!! servers where happy and friendly, perhaps because they get to eat all this excellent food. The menu is full of health minded choices which I loved! That's what they doctor ordered. If we lived near they we would be on a first name basis. read more

By far the best breakfast I have ever had. We started with the million dollar bacon as an appetizer....what??? Amazing! Followed by the chia pudding power protein bowl. I don't even know how to describe something so good. The BlackBerry preserve that comes drizzled on top along with the homemade granola made this a big hit. Even the toast....what breakfast place do you go to where you can say the toast was amazing. Now for the main course. I had the farmhouse hash. Bacon avocado cheese tomatoes onions and the best breakfast potatoes served with your choice of any style egg...my choice over medium. Again...toast with a side if the preserve. We ordered chocolate chip pancakes for dessert, but honestly we had to box it up for later...(air fry pancakes are amazing...about 3 minutes) we had all three freshly made juices all were delicious, but the overall best thing that First Watch has to be the service by Raya. We are in the restaurant business in Las Vegas Nevada (home of hospitality) and Raya is the best server I have ever had in my life. She was caring, passionate about her guests and overall genuine. Amazing service Raya. Thanks so much for amazing service from start to finish. We appreciate you!! read more
