Farmhouse Hash
Timia W.

Excellent experience! Great customer service. He was so kind and he thought ahead which we appreciated it. I got the hash with bacon and added red peppers. It was pretty good. I miss the honey chipotle chicken hash they recently had but this was the closest thing I could get to it. This one is hearty, a great portion and you can't beat the price. Great music, super clean and quiet. I would recommend this location!

Best considered a brunch place, First Watch has a variety of egg dishes, some sandwiches, and their claim to fame is the juices, with nanes like "Kale Tonic" and "red medicine". Food is decent and not over priced Service is good, I like they put out a carafe of coffee and a milk bottle of water, so you never run out. Ambiance is industrial, so it is noisy, hard wooden chairs arent super comfortable. In December, the air conditioning was excessive

Floridian French toast

I love this place. Everything is farm to table fresh. Atmosphere is lively. They serve breakfast, brunch and lunch and close at 230pm. I ordered the Floridian French toast which was a generous portion I could share with my niece, it is so delish.. kid approved. I also had a fresh cup of oj, they have other juices that are healthy and combine ingredients like kale ginger beet etc. We've also had the million dollar bacon before, man it's like Crack, you may become addicted! I've also had their tomato basil soup which is so good!!! They used to serve blueberry lemon cornbread which was so good, but now it's bacon cornbread which I haven't tried so I can't review that. I do definitely recommend this place! Staff is always friendly and provides good service, and I've never had to wait to be seated even though they get busy. Price point is fair for what you get.

First watch has always been my go to spot for breakfast and brunch! This was my first time at this specific location. It wasn't too busy when we came in, but when we left around noon, a line started to form. I was craving something sweet so I went with the classic chocolate chip pancakes. Their pancakes are some of the best I've had. They are fluffy and light. Buttery goodness. The syrup is served warm and hot. I love drizzling it over my pancakes and dipping them in the syrup. My friend really enjoyed his lemon ricotta pancake as well. He could taste the lemon flavor throughout the pancake batter in addition to the lemon curd. I also tried the mint mocha, which was a miss. I couldn't exactly taste the mint or the chocolate, and the cold foam was like whipped cream. Our server was super attentive to our needs, friendly, and enthusiastic! Plenty of parking available. The vibes are like your typical brunch spots.

Eggs Benedict potatoes

This place has to be one of the worse first watch locations I have been to. From my understanding these are how the potatoes are made. The whole plate smelled and tasted burned.when I informed waiter she said do you not want them crispy... from the managers mouth this is how they are made. When they brung a new batch they still had a burned taste.

Biscuits with turkey gravy, sunny side eggs perfectly cooked, and yummy taters.

The first time we came here, it was relatively newly opened. Had a few service hiccups, but the food was very good, and the pancakes are some of wife's favorites around. We have been back a few times since, this last time was just outstanding thanks to Rogilio. One of the best waitstaff of any restaurant we have been to. Very attentive, but not overly so...a balance that is hard to achieve from our dining experiences. Everything was prompt, friendly, and all smiles. Food wise, I had the biscuits and turkey gravy with a side of bacon. It was absolutely delish. The bacon was a little pricey for what you get (over $5 for 4 slices), but it was done well and I get the rising food costs. Still, I may make do next time unless I'm jonesing for some pig candy again. My wife had the 2 egg pancake breakfast, with a side of grits. The oatmeal banana pancakes were fantastic, and she is a hard judge. The eggs, like mine, were perfectly sunny side up with a runny, creamy yolk. The grits were really nice too. I think, but don't quote me, they use yellow cornmeal grits instead of the usual white hominy grits. They were super tasty and I'd happily order more. Becoming one of our favorite breakfast spots, especially if Rogilio is working, thanks bud

Farmhouse Skillet Hash and million dollar bacon
Catalina A.

If you're looking for a hearty, filling, delicious breakfast, this is your spot. The farmhouse skillet hash is my absolute favorite here. Don't worry the eggs come with the whites I removed them after getting my food (I personally prefer the yolks). The whole meal is very filling and it's a pretty big serving in my opinion. The million dollar bacon is pretty delicious if you like bacon and maple syrup/honey. I think it pairs beautifully with the skillet. Overall the food is pretty delicious. Only thing is I try to have it in moderation, I can tell I'm eating a million calories when I eat here, nothing wrong with that but this the epitome of fattening American breakfast. They have some very creative dishes and fun combinations, they also have a whole healthy section if that's what you're looking for but I do think the best stuff is the bacon/potatoes/chesse/pancakes/waffles/all the high calorie stuff lol. The service is pretty good but be warned that this place fills up and often has a wait on the weekends, if you're in a rush I would call ahead to make sure they have available tables. Lots of parking so don't worry about that

Breakfast sandwich with bacon on the side

Love First Watch, and love the fact they are opening so many central locations. We've dined at this Heights location a handful of times since their opening. We always start with the granola crunch pancake and then either split an entree. My favorite entree is the salmon bennie, but I did recently try the breakfast sandwich (san bacon/bacon on the side for the beau). First Watch almost always has a wait, but not many people know that you can get on their waitlist by going to their website to join their digital wait. It's worth it. This location also has a patio and bar seating. For bar seating, you can seat yourself (another way to skip the line). Love their coffee. They have some cocktails (French Toast cereal cocktail, y'all).

Farmhouse hash skillet

While we were waiting for our food I was wondering why the table next to me left behind so much of their food and after eating our meals I could understand why. My skillet hash was okay, but the potatoes were not good. Most of the pieces were undercooked. My fiancée's pesto chicken quinoa bowl was terrible. There was way too much of some unknown liquid in there. You can see it in my picture. The quinoa seemed undercooked as well. We both left unsatisfied. At least our server was friendly and attentive? Save your money and go somewhere else.

Elevated breakfast sandwich

Gosh, what can I say? The only good experience was that the server was nice and really tried for us. The food coming out of the kitchen was not good. I ordered the classic eggs benedict, which I often order as a go-to besides pancakes. Never in my life have I seen boiled eggs in an eggs benedict. The best part of an eggs benedict is the runny yolk. The potatoes were also unevenly cooked - under and overcooked. Most of the dish was not edible. I picked at it. The ham was similar to a shaved deli ham, and the bread was not an English muffin. The hollandaise sauce was lemony. I informed the server that the eggs should be poached and not boiled. She said she'd get me a new one. The second time, the eggs were soft boiled. I ate the eggs but didn't feel like eating the rest. Potatoes were still the same. One of my friends ordered the elevated egg breakfast sandwich that was supposed to be on a brioche bun and have Gruyère cheese. It looked like a hamburger bun. Didn't seem so elevated. My other friend's farmhouse skillet also had flat eggs that weren't over easy, and the potatoes were also like mine. Upon leaving, the half of the restaurant we were seated in didn't have any tables bussed. I saw a stack of plates, and on the top was an uneaten eggs benedict also with the eggs boiled. I was disappointed for paying $20 for the meal, coffee, and tip. I've always wanted to try the brunch at First Watch. I won't go back or recommend. You're safer at IHOP!

UPDATED Review from 8 months ago. I placed an online order and was instructed to come to the back to pick it up. Cool, no problem. My order wasn't ready, cool, it's a holiday weekend. Someone from the back comes out and asks what I'm waiting for and he says he put it out already and someone must have taken it and I have to wait for it to be cooked again. This isn't a sound system to have in place if pepper can walk in from the back and take other people's orders. I'm good on this location and won't be coming back here. This is the 3rd negative encounter out of about 5 or 6 visits I've had with this location. I'll drive further out to another location.

For my visit, it was crowded but not to where you couldn't hear your table. Dress is casual, good for friends, solo, or pit stop. Service: 5/5 Our waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. Since it was our first visit there, she gave us some background that it was a Pappa's owned restaurant and food is made from scratch. Food: 3/5 They offer mimosas and I was tempted to order, but was driving and it was 9AM so forewent that option. There are food options for every tastebud. Mark ordered the fried cheese sticks, they were one of the items that I found worthwhile to return for. I opted for the Waffle feast. It included a waffle, that I added pecans on top to, two strips of bacon, eggs your way and hash browns. To say that I needed to add salt and pepper to the eggs and hash browns because they tasted bland and flavorless was unfortunate. It also was served at room temperature, because it was made from scratch, would think it be warmer to hot. The waffle was savory and had good mix and topped with the pecans made it even better. If you're on this side of town and want a change up from the "other breakfast diners" DOT would be where I stop. Fast, friendly service. Depending the food you get, it gets the job done for some sustenance to hold you over when you're not sure when your next meal is because you'll be in Galveston for 7 hours riding a float in the Mardi Gras parade.

What I eventually found both surprised and delighted me, and Nate's gets a thumbs up overall. Pictures are deceiving as I thought the place would be larger but it's a tight fit for bigger groups. There are only a handful of tables but plenty of character. It's also a bit grimey, unsightly and even a tinge dodgey, which may be a deal breaker for others but is an immediate appeal to me. Two things immediately standout when it comes to the food: the portions and the prices are outstanding. The offerings are as no frills as the rest of the establishment. The other surprise was how much influence there was from Mexican cuisine. Hash browns were the goal, but chorizo and chilaquiles were the bonus. Another surprise? The hash browns weren't as crispy as I would have wanted. It's entirely plausible that I came on an off day, which happens. However everything else was on point as my chorizo skillet was absolutely dynamite, pancakes were fluffy and indulgent, breakfast tacos were outstanding, and my eggs were perfectly softly scrambled. Even the bacon and sausage patties were delicious, which is a tall order considering it's not likely made in house. Lastly, as someone who drinks cold water like it's a hobby (#1), I'm especially grateful for the massive 32 oz cup of water, which is perfect for someone who drinks like a camel. The staff is not the quickest but they are friendly. Spanish may go further with most and they're not the quickest when it comes to greeting folks or cleaning tables. The food is the star and consider paying in cash. ____________ (#1) I'm thirsty.

I wanted to start with one biscuit, but the biscuits come in pairs. The waitress said I could order just one anyway, but the order ended up being two. I meant to save the second one for breakfast, but that was not to be. It did not survive long enough to make it out the door. My actual meal was a bacon swiss and mushroom burger, which was excellent. Between the biscuits and the burger, I am forced to acknowledge that it was entirely too much food. Sadly, that did not prevent me from eating all of it anyway. Delicious! The restaurant, which is a diner with very basic decor, is on an approach road to IAH, and is open 24/7. When I arrived in the evening, the place was empty. By the time I left, there were a whole bunch of customers. I noticed in other reviews that people were saying they did not receive checks for their meal and felt they were over-charged at the register. Mr. Picky ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp while I opted for Veal Parmigiana, and we each stole a bite from the other's plate. Seriously, we hadn't expected much when walking in and looking around, but were pleasantly surprised at the kitchen's efforts. We finished lunch with an order of homemade bread pudding and tiramisu, the latter of which in 2012 won a chamber of commerce epicurean competition 1st place ribbon. I wasn't there to judge that competition and have had better, but sincerely appreciated the moistness of the bread pudding. While the majority of diners were older and a more mature crowd, there's a lot to be said for value, and we thought the menu price was better than reasonable and I think a lot of people will discover this as a value destination, something we all appreciate.
