Small quaint little Cafe in the middle of nowhere. Street parking available. I ordered a biscuit and a parfait. The parfait work fresh fruit and granola was delish but who can really mess up a parfait? I ordered biscuit with white gravy. The biscuit is like Pillsbury out of the can, fried on each side to make it seem it's fresh from scratch, there's no way it is, and if it is, it needs work to improve it! The gravy was also seemingly not from scratch. All in all i can't say I'd be in a hurry to return to this place. We went here as a mutual brunch place to meet with our friends. I love the location but wish they had parking with cooperative parking app. It's typical downtown issues. I wish they had more staff to assist him because it's not fun waiting for our food when it's just us. Our latte took forever. I've been here twice. First time I was just because it showed up in the "food near me" section so my friend and I gave it a shot. Walk in and greeted by the person at the front immediately. This is a very cozy, welcoming place! The owner is very knowledgeable of his menu and makes superb recommendations at the drop of a dime. He recommended the iced chai latte, and y'all! The flavor is just amazing from top to bottom! I ordered the shrimp and grits and they are the best that I have ever had, my goodness! They're portioned perfectly between the grits, shrimp, and the savory sauce. Just a wonderful combo. The biscuit and gravy that I ordered were superb, the biscuit was flaky and soft like it came from an oven in heaven. Ok.. another one of my foodie friends put me on to the place. Came here on a Sunday with three others. Honestly, I almost missed this place because of where it's located. It's right next to the bail bonds place. There is parking on the street all around this place. Just be mindful of what day it is and what time because of the meter situation. This is a no frills kinda place. Clean and organized. There's kind of a coffee bar but I am not sure of what the options are because I never saw the window. I always try a classic breakfast - hash browns were shredded potatoes. They do have a turkey sausage option. I added my own salt and pepper . Fridays are usually the favorite day of the week for most working professionals. Fridays signify the end of a hard work week and every two Fridays, one can normally see a nice deposit in their bank account for their hard work. Fridays also tend to be the day where one hour lunches can turn into an hour and half lunches due to workers (who potentially just got paid) wanting to visit a new lunch spot or go back to a lunch spot that may be farther away than a Tuesday lunch spot. Three of my coworkers and I decided to venture out today and visit Toasters on the recommendation of someone in our party who said the chicken and waffles was the bomb the last time he came here for lunch. We arrived and there two other patrons in the restaurant waiting for to go orders. We walked up to the counter to order, not really needing to look at the menu because of the aforementioned chicken and waffle recommendation. Two of my coworkers ordered the chicken and waffles and a drink for a total of $17 for each order. In my opinion, a little pricey for a place that serves four waffle triangles and 2 wings. I step up to the counter and also order the chicken and waffles with a water. The cashier mentions that the water is only bottled (this is one of my pet peeves with restaurants when you can't just have a glass of water and are required to purchase a water bottle but that is just personal preference). I complete my $14 transaction for chicken and waffles and a water bottle and our last coworker behind me asks if I got the chicken tenders or the chicken wings. I mention to him that I wanted to the wings because why would you ever want tenders over whole fried wings when ordering chicken and waffles. The cashier who just took my order says that I ordered the tenders even though I made no mention of tenders in my order. He just assumed I wanted tenders so I tell the cashier that I want wings and he changes the order in the kitchen. I go to our table and mention this conversation to my other two coworkers who ordered before me and ask them if they ordered the wings or tenders. They say that they didn't specify because they just assumed it was wings and not tenders. I went back to look at the menu and it does mention that it is either tenders or wings but not once did the cashier ask us if we wanted tenders or wings. It makes a lot of sense to serve tenders over wings by default because of cost. Our last coworker who ordered specifically asked for wings so we waited in anticipation of what was about to come out from the kitchen. We see the cashier come to our table with the 4 trays of chicken and waffles and sure enough, there are two orders with tenders and two orders with whole wings. One of coworkers felt scammed in the moment and asked if he could get a refund to which the cashier responded that all sales are final and there are no refunds. There is a sign at the counter that says this. It would have been nice if the cashier had offered a substitute meal of equal value, but all he did was mention there are no refunds, drop the food on the table (not even in front of my coworker), and walk away. The chicken wings were actually decent and crispy. The waffle was a little soft for my liking but in the syrup, it tasted ok because sugar makes everything taste better (except chicken tenders). The wings are the only reason this review is 2 stars and not 1 star. The tenders looked sadder than a chicken on its way to the slaughter house. The tenders were not crispy and almost ghost white. We did not see the cashier a single time the whole time after the food was dropped off. The picture attached here shows the difference between the wings and tenders. I would not recommend this place for people in a hurry as the food took 17 minutes to come out in an empty restaurant (we were the only ones in the restaurant along with one other person who ordered after us). If you do decide to come and try the chicken, specifically ask for wings as the chicken and not the tenders. We will not be coming back here. I asked my coworker who got tenders what he would rate this place on a scale of 1-10 and he said, "If I could give it less than 1, I would." It feels like they were being deceptive by not asking us whether we wanted tenders or wings. There are so many other good chicken and waffle places in Houston. Visit those instead! read more

I went early one Sunday, just as they opened, and was immediately greeted as soon as we walked through the door. We were the only people there at 8 am which was perfect. It's open seating so you order at the counter and then sit wherever you want. Service was quick and the portions were huge. Neither of us could finish our food lol. This is a great place to stop in when you want a good, hearty diner breakfast or brunch. What we got is below. 1) Cinnamon French toast. Three ginormous sliced if perfectly cooked cinnamon french toast toped with a quarter cup if powdered sugar. It wasn't egg or undercooked in the middle. When I say perfect, that's what I mean. 2) Apple pecan pancakes. Two massive circles of fluffy buttery pancakes topped with cooked apples and chopped pecans. The other reviews aren't wrong - this place really is easy to miss. Came here with 2 friends on a somewhat rainy Saturday. There was only one occupied table when we arrived. That being said, our server came up to us quickly. We ordered and the food didn't take very long to come out. I went with the French toast - which was actually a bit chewy and not something I would order again. The bacon was cooked very hard and was crunchy, but I like it like that so it was ok. My friend got chicken and waffles, chicken was seasoned pretty well and waffles were pretty good. He also got something else, not sure what it was called (see pic), and was unsure how to approach eating it bc the tortilla part was hard and not soft like he expected lol. He said the taste was pretty good though. The music/ambiance is slightly off. It almost sounded like elevator or church music playing which didn't watch the visual interior of the place. The walk up is modest and I suppose I should have recognized that having a bail bond company across the street was not a sign of haute cuisine, but I was hungry and the reviews were okay on Yelp, so in I went after paying $3 to park. The coffee is recommended. My omelette was adequate but uninspired and provided the necessary protein for a day; but the hash browns were undercooked and the biscuit was a mess with a soft, doughy texture on the outside before the cook split and fried it on the griddle. The result was a kind of bad brioche toast with no texture and overly sweet flavor. Your grandmother would not approve. In short, come in for the coffee at $2.49 and consider a muffin, but avoid water at $1.49 per bottle! read more

After going to several places with more than an hour wait time we decided to hit up yelp and look for another brunch location in the area. The location was a little bit hard to find, but when we arrive I was a point little restaurant that had zero wait time. SCORE! I ordered the Waffle with sausage patties and I ordered an additional scrambled egg. What I loved about this place was that there was no one there, the ambience was quiet and just what we needed for a girls brunch with the bestie. The only thing I can complain about is that this is not a tableservice restaurants you have to get up to get your coffee and water and silverware which is not a big deal but when you're in full-blown conversation. That gets a little annoying. The cool thing though was that the owner introduced himself and his conversation it really showed a lot of passion for the restaurant, and that was pretty neat.
