The chilaquiles are just chips with cheese on top.

There's flies roaming around. The burger was dry, the chilaquiles were just chips with melted cheese on top, it's barely Mexican. The enchiladas were just tacos drenched in the red sauce. The caldo de rez had huge chunks of onion in it, the drinks were good, the rice was good. Service is okay, apparently you can't return a plate. Maybe their bakery is better.

The best pork chops I've had. Fresh and warm tortillas as well. This is definitely the best authentic Mexican ( or TexMex ) you can have.

Anyway, I finally got a chance to stop by on a Sunday late morning recently. Parking can be difficult, but there are dedicated Koffeteria spots in front of the business as well as surrounding paid curbside parking. I believe Instagram helped many others discover this business recently, as it was pretty packed and there was a line, but this gave us ample opportunity to peruse the menu and pastry display. Ultimately, we opted for the: Cambodian iced coffee (kayfe dahkoh) made with sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk - tasted very similar but weaker than Vietnamese coffee. As I'm Viet and have never had Cambodian coffee, this was my only frame of reference, and I didn't love it. I'm excited to try more Cambodian coffees to get a better understanding of their unique flavor profile! Black sesame mochi - sweet and perfectly sesame flavored with salted yolk at the bottom, delicious, my partner's favorite pastry Beef pho kolache - the bun was so soft and complemented the soft but flavorful brisket meat. wow. truly a brisket pho in a kolache. We got extremely lucky and got a table almost immediately after ordering, as someone left just in time. The interior is full of vintage furniture, which added so much character. As a vintage lover, I felt so at home! I could see how others might prefer a more neat, chic interior, but to me this was absolutely perfect and added so much warmth, homeliness, and character to the shop. Absolutely love this coffee shop and will 100% be back to try more pastries and coffees. Immediately, this has become a new Houston favorite!

He's a chocolate lover so I decided on the Black Forest cake for him which is one of their specialties. I ordered the night before for noon pickup and paid online which was a pretty easy process. I was able to include instructions to write "Happy Birthday Dad!" When I stopped by on a Sunday at noon, thankfully parking wasn't too bad and I snagged a spot easily. Beware parking here at busier times - when I visited on a Saturday at 1:30pm it was mayhem. On entering, I saw an array of desserts and savory items. I decided to also pick up a savory kolache-type pastry (I never got the name of it) and the cake! The employee was quick and helpful - she located the cake, showed me the design and lettering to make sure it was ok before I left. The cake was a huge hit! We loved the light sponge cake with layers of whipped cream which were light and not too sweet. Then layer of cherries was lovely. The fruits on top were fresh and nicely arranged. The appearance was gorgeous as well, with chocolate shavings delicately arranged on the outside. We were not too impressed by the kolache. I was also able to try their pandan cake slice on another visit and loved the flavoring, lightness of the cake and the icing was very tasty. I will definitely be coming back here for more cakes in the not too distant future!

Just a heads up that they have a credit card minimum. I only wanted a couple of things but had to grab a few more items to hit the limit. She answered questions and made suggestions. The price was not bad either. I got 4 cookies and 1 cupcake and my total was $31. These aren't little cookies either. They are big and you get them warm! She didn't have to warm them up she just handed them to us warm! They were the perfect amount of crunchy on the edge and gooey on the inside. All of them were amazing! The cheesecake was bland, no real flavor to it. With so many options in houston, I'd try another place.

They have a select variety of pastries. We got their butter croissant, blueberry cream cheese danish, and spinach pastry. The croissant was one of the best I had in Houston! It is subtle, buttery, and flaky and does not go stale from staying out all day. I think these Houston croissants are the most similar to the ones I had in France! The blueberry cream cheese danish had a healthy and generous amount of blueberries. It was flaky, and the cream cheese flavor was not overwhelming or artificial. The spinach pastry was also flaky like the others and had a good spinach and cream flavor. I also had a bite of my friend's cinnamon kouign-amann, but it was not as good as the others and was a bit on the drier side. All the pastries I got were well balanced with subtle flavors and had golden, crispy flakes. I really enjoyed them, and although I have been here a handful of times, it's definitely a Houston croissant staple, which I will be visiting more often!

So, what we decided to do was to place an order for the chocolate ganache tarts a couple of days later, but while we were here, we'd try their Amandine tart, Sachertorte, and an Eclaire. Wow, I just had a bite of each and....daaaang, they were so so soooo good! So satisfying, so decadent, so next level deliciousness! ... perhaps a little sweet, but not overly so... thoroughly enjoyed just the taste of each. A couple of days later when we finally got to try their chocolate ganache tarts... wow... again!
