Being a Hostess is apparently a difficult job. For a party of two, they offered outside sitting to a few and make others wait on the waitlist for 45 minutes. People walking straight in were offered outside sitting with no waiting by some hostess' and others will not offer it causing US to wait for 45 minutes until we figured this system out and asked. Had a good brunch here! We tried the new Short Rib Omelette and Truffle Mushroom Hash. Omelette was fluffy and had a good portion of flavorful short rib. It also came with a side salad. The Truffle Mushroom Hash was good as well. If you like truffle, you'll like this as the truffle taste is very apparent. The hash came with potatoes, mushrooms, bacon and arugula. I kind of wish there were more mushrooms in the dish. But all the flavors blended well together. We also tried the Morning Meditation juice which was delicious! Our server, Sam, was nice enough to also give us samples of the Kale Juice and their new Carrot Crush Juice. I liked Morning Meditation the best, then Carrot Crush, and then the Kale. This was our first visit and it was amazing. It's really nice to see a breakfast/brunch menu with options for non egg eaters. I like eggs, they upset my stomach. When we arrived we we put on the wait list which I expected. We waited for about a half hour (the estimated wait). Not a big deal. The restaurant was clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. I ordered the ham and gruyere sandwich with the tomato soup. I absolutely loved the meal. My husband ordered the breakfast sandwich and he enjoyed that. read more

I ordered pickup on the First Watch website this morning. Instead of ASAP pickup, ready in 12 minutes, I selected later for a 7:45am order. Parking was easy when I arrived. Plenty of entrances to get to the restaurant. There were about 4 tables eating in and I arrived a minute before pickup. Waited a moment for the server to come to the front to assist me. She did tell the gentleman that walked in before me that she'd be with us in one minute. When she came over, a younger guy came over at the same time. The server seated the gentleman for one and the younger guy (maybe a bus boy) helped me snag my food. The bag was sitting up front on a shelf and it appeared I may have been the only pickup at that exact moment. I received everything in my order including some ketchup packets & jelly. I ordered the breakfast for two. The portion sizes was plentiful and nice selection of items. I saved my fruit for later in the afternoon but I did transfer it to another container of my own because the packaging was somewhat flimsy from the fruit itself. Packaging appears to be recyclable (kudos) but it's also easily weakened by the steam of the food or as I mentioned, the juice from the fruit. The food tasted good, wish the eggs had more flavor or seasoning. The potatoes were delicious and the bread/toast is the good stuff. Not a cheap slice of whatever's in the back. Although I picked my food up on time, it didn't seem very warm. Maybe setting it under a heat lamp would help, keep the fruit in the fridge until arrival. Overall I enjoyed the experience and food. I will give it another try for sure and would suggest you stop in for your own opinion. read more

We stopped in here for breakfast on a recent weekend morning. Had never been before. Will say, First Watch is a better than average breakfast restaurant. It's a well known American Style chain restaurant was founded in Pacific Grove, Ca over 38 years ago. In Arizona the first location opened in 1992. However since 2014, First Watch has bought out The Good Egg in Arizona and currently, 18 of The Good Egg restaurants have been converted into First Watch restaurants. That's probably why you'll see more locations on every corner in every city, throughout the state. We ended up dining at the location in Gilbert off of Val Vista and it didn't disappoint. Uniquely, the name is of a nautical reference to the first work shift aboard a ship, so be mindful of that as First Watch restaurants are only open from 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM Our server was pleasant and courteous even though the place was pretty busy. Coffee is offered as soon as you're seated. A roasted Huila, Colombia blend which is BOTH rich in flavor and philosophy.A portion of their proceeds supports hard-working women and their families in Huila since 2018. Complementary filtered waters are provided if suggested or requested. They also offer a fresh juice bar option and fan-favorite Fruit Tea as well- ask for details. Their Menu is FULL of wonderful choice which includes their popular dishes such as: Avocado Toast, Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict, Farm Stand Breakfast Tacos, Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. My husband had the Chili Chorizo Omelette with green chili's, served with oven roasted diced potatoes and choice of buttered bread. He enjoyed it. I went the lunch option with the homemade tomato basil soup and full size Roast Beef and Harvarti Sandwich. One of the best restaurant distinctively flavorful sammie's I've had in a really long time. Super Delicious! Bread:That tasty thick-cut whole grain bread is actually made exclusively for First Watch by their bakery in Ohio called Orlando Baking Company. It's shipped and delivered though-tout the US daily to their statewide locations and they now offer this bread for sale by the loaf in all of our restaurants! Weekends...this place "jumps" so be well prepared to wait. As the weather warns, don't forget to take advantage of the outside patio dining area, but again can be LONG waits! First Watch is one of my favorite breakfast chains of all time. I feel like they do classics really well, as well as their own unique spins on popular entrees. They also have a small selection of frequently rotating seasonal items. I've ordered from several First Watch locations and always had a consistently great experience both ordering in and taking to-go. I normally opt for The Traditional or the Elevated Egg Sandwich which are both very good and highly recommended, but today I decided to try their Parma Skillet Hash -- I think I found my new favorite. I don't think I've ever seen an Italian take on a breakfast hash before, but I think it absolutely works and is an incredible deal at $12.99. It might look small in photos but it's heavy enough to leave one pretty full. My only warning with First Watch is plan ahead. They tend to get very, very busy. Even to-go orders can sometimes take much longer than anticipated. This is not their fault necessarily, just something to keep in mind. Worth the wait! read more

I've been to First Watch a few times now and have gotten different things each time... everything has been fantastic, but I can never seem to remember exactly what I've gotten. The Traditional Breakfast with pork sausage is a great go to, it's a simple breakfast if you like a big of everything. Worst start to a birthday! My husband took me to breakfast here because it's my favorite (not his). His breakfast arrived after 15 mins. Mine arrived 20 minutes later with the excuse " you should see the amount of carry out orders we have". It was eggs benedict and one of the eggs was just egg foam skimmed off the top of the water. 15 minutes later I get an egg but the rest of my meal is now cold. Took it home to the dog. Yes they comped it but I wouldn't have paid for it anyways. My advice to the manager - if you can't handle the meals for those who made an effort to come in don't open the doors. This is our go to breakfast spot. We love that you get your own carafe of coffee, so no waiting for a refill. We switch up our breakfast choices, and very rarely are disappointed. Lunch is also good. It can get very busy, with all the people in Gilbert now. We have come here since it opened. Service is good. Wait staff super friendly.
