Great pancakes!…read more Breakfast here was a win. I ordered nothing but pancakes. Buttermilk pancakes and Chocolate Chip pancakes. So so good. They were fluffy, smokin' hot, and beautifully plated. These pancakes are huge too. The plate of pancakes come as a stack of 3. I had a single chocolate chip and added one of the buttermilk pancakes to it and that was still plenty. The server and hostess were very nice and the atmosphere was quiet. I'll be back for lunch :)

When my food came out, I was told my salad didn't have chicken because I couldn't eat the chicken, or any other meat in the restaurant, because they coat it in Pam spray (soybean oil). For a place that prides itself on making their own dressings, etc., you'd think they could've figured out how to cook chicken in an oil that they use for everything else. Perhaps if they'd communicated better about my intolerance instead of not thinking about it until immediately when my food was ready (which was quite a while after we ordered), they could've found someone in the restaurant who was capable of making non-vegetarian food with something other than soy spray, but I may be giving them too much credit. They also didn't offer us a high chair for our toddler, which was strange. He wound up doing fine in the booth, which was for the best because a high chair probably wouldn't have fit well where we were sitting anyway. The waitress was apologetic and nice about my food screw up and offered to make me something else, but there wasn't much that could be done given that apparently no one in the restaurant knows how to cook meat without soy spray, plus we'd already waited quite a while for our food. The beet salad was tasty, as was the bread with honey butter and the Chai latte, but I would've left feeling more full if I could've added meat to my salad.

Honestly, I had a hard time hearing even my son who sat next to me, and hearing my sister who sat one seat over in front of me, I couldn't hear what she was saying. Loudness is an issue for me and I do not have hearing issues. Our bill with tip came to over $700+. That was the most expensive lunch we've ever spent for our party of 14. Typically we're in the $400-500 range. But it was a special occasion. My husband and son got the 36 hr ribs. My husband really loved them. My son said it was okay. I didn't ask my brother and BIL who also got the same dish. I know my BIL was unhappy that he didn't get the side he requested and when they gave it to him (asparagus, I think), it was cold and he wasn't pleased about this. I got the hub burger and it was okay. There was a lot on the burger, but the patty itself, didn't have that much flavor. Some of the "Starters" or appetizers things were salted too much, but the burger did not taste like it had any salt. I had eaten too many starters so when my food came, I wasn't very hungry and took most of it home and ate for dinner another night. My husband and son do not like coleslaw and I ate theirs. THIS I really liked and tasted much better than KFC. I loved the sweetness and that the cabbage was shredded bigger than KFC. The pretzel bites were good. We got wings, and they were so-so. The roasted brussel sprouts were too salty. The deviled eggs were okay, but pricey for 2.5 eggs, which I do pay at Trader Joe's for organic free range pasturized eggs I could've gotten over 2 dozens. But, yes, I pay for the service and ambiance. I really thought there would be more than 5 halves for the deviled eggs. We got the nachos and they were okay. The melted cheese sauce was the best part. My mom got the fish and chips and she seemed to pick at it. She didn't want to take home, so it must not have been that good because she almost always takes a doggy bag home. My sister had the salmon and it was in a huge bowl and didn't look to be that much food. It was pricey. One of my SILs got something I didn't recognize and she said it was okay. No one I could tell was over the moon with the taste of the food and I heard the word "interesting" quite a bit. It's not that it tasted bad, but it didn't really taste good good. You know what I mean? I did bring a special order cake I got at Nothing Bundt Cakes in Gilbert. I asked Culinary Dropout if we could borrow a cake cutter. They didn't have one. Weird. This was a Red Velvet cake and this was absolutely divine. It was moist. The frosting was some sort of yummy cream cheese frosting. The cake was perfectly sized for our party of 14. The cake was the best part of our meal and it didn't come from Culinary Dropout. I would pay this much for a meal at Roy's for lunch for this sized party, but alas, all the Roy's in the valley are closed down. So sad. I'm not saying this place is bad or the food tastes bad. It's okay and pricey. If the food was great or amazing, we don't mind pricey. We have paid over $1K for meals for our big party, and happily do so when the food is equivalent to the price.

I am not a big review writer. However, I decided to post here on Yelp after sending an email to First Watch's customer care and not hearing back other than that they had received my email. My comment is related to the Gilbert, AZ location. It was an experience my wife and I had on the morning of July 16th. We arrived at about 8:30 am. There were three tables with customers; that was it. When we pulled in, I thought the restaurant might be closed. This is our favorite restaurant, and it was unusual not to see a full parking lot at that hour. We were seated right away at a table near the kitchen area. We sat for 9 minutes with our menus closed and no coffee, water, or service. An employee was setting a table next to us for 8, and we thought she would take care of us when she was done, but she walked away. We sat another 2 to 4 minutes and decided to get up and leave. As we left, I looked back, and nobody was even aware we had got up and left except for another table near us who watched us walk out the door. We drove to the First Watch Fulton Ranch location in Chandler and had a great breakfast. This is the first time anything like this has happened to us at this restaurant, let alone any restaurant. To sit for just over 10 minutes and be completely ignored, except for only getting menus at the door and being seated, is unacceptable under any circumstances. We would have been OK with a glass of water, coffee, or at least an acknowledgment that they would be with us at some point if they were short-staffed or extremely busy. The issue was a lack of attention. It's probably more of a management issue than an employee customer service issue. I am surprised this happened. I am amazed nobody noticed us and maybe asked another employee which one of the servers had our table. I am bringing this to everyone's attention because, as I said, First Watch was completely unresponsive to my bringing it to their attention. Secondly, it was preventable and it happened to us at one of our favorite restaurants where we love the food. We will not be going back to this location again. I felt obligated to bring it to First Watch's attention because you can't fix what you don't know. Also, it's not fair to you for us to bring our poor experience to the attention of others if we haven't brought it to their attention first. So, if you are considering trying First Watch, do it; the food is great; just beware of the Gilbert location. read more

First let me start by saying this was my favorite place to eat breakfast and lunch. I have been eating at Firstwatch for over 20 years primarily in Phoenix since that is where i work. I use to go to the one on Thomas road almost everyday and the manager Robin back then was the best. Her customer service skills and the way she made relationships with people was unlike anything I have seen before. It was amazing she actually made you feel like you were invited into her home. When Firstwatch in GILBERT Opened up near where i live I was delighted to find out she was going to be the general manager there. We were going there since day one of the opening. The food the employees everything was excellent. Robin was as I remembered very out going friendly remembered her customers and Engaged with them as if they were a close family. Then one day she was gone. No one really answered the question of where she was and if she was coming back at all for quite awhile. I eventually found out she quit. The restaurant showed this loss I was shocked because I have seen her and recognized her as the face of firstwatch since Thomas road and even when she was at the Biltmore. It was immediately noticed in the restaurant once she was gone. On days when i did not see her and assumed it was her day off it became apparent she was no longer managing this restaurant because the environment was completely different. There has not been since She left and to this writing today the customer service she provided While she was running the restaurant. The place has turned into a complete joke and it is eye opening to see all they care about now is making money and they don't care about the customer or building relationships with in the community as Robin did at any location she was working whether in Phoenix or Gilbert. First watch should of done something to entice her to stay because without her the restaurant is no different than going into a IHOP or Denny's. Therefore we now cook at home and will not go back to any firstwatch anywhere unless Robin is managing. Completely disappointed in the Firstwatch corporate philosophy. read more

We decided to stop by First Watch for breakfast, and overall it was a great experience! We ordered the Chickichanga and the Barbacoa Chilaquiles Breakfast Bowl. The Chickichanga was definitely the star of the meal, it was absolutely delicious! It was packed with flavor, cooked perfectly, and the combination of ingredients made every bite so good. I would definitely order it again. The Barbacoa Chilaquiles Breakfast Bowl was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it didn't stand out as much as the Chickichanga. The flavors were decent, but it just wasn't as memorable or satisfying. The restaurant had a welcoming atmosphere, the food came out fresh, and the service was friendly and attentive. Even though one dish wasn't our favorite, we'd definitely come back because the Chickichanga alone is worth the visit. Overall, I'd recommend giving First Watch a try if you're looking for a fresh, flavorful breakfast or brunch spot! read more

This place has completely changed for the worse after the last manager (Robin) left its been awhile but has never been the same since. First watch should of done what ever they needed to do to keep her. Customer service, food and efficiency are no longer there. Its a shame too because this was my favorite spot for breakfast. I can no longer go there. They only care about making a buck and have no desire to excel at customer service and engage with the customers like Robin did. I will no longer go there. Again great decision in not doing everything a company can do to keep One of the best general managers i ever met in a restaurant . I had a wonderful time at First Watch, a daytime cafe that serves breakfast and brunch near me. I ordered the shareable 4-pieces bacon, which was amazing with its sweet taste and crispy texture. I also tried their vegetarian sandwich, which was awesome. The kale tonic was better than I expected, it was refreshing and doesn't have a "grassy taste." Talk about 'hostile working environment'. He should be fired immediately. It's a**holes like him that make people hate Boomers. It's all twenty-something's working there. I hope they sue corporate. I ate here for the first time two weeks ago, and I would say the food is good. The reason for only 4 stars is because I wish their breakfast potatoes were a little crunchier. I recommend just getting hot coffee. The iced coffee had too much milk, and they don't have milk alternatives. However, I did enjoy my breakfast here. The skillet was awesome. read more

Before arriving, we signed up for the rewards program and received a complimentary order of beignets with honey marmalade. They were absolutely delicious and easily the highlight of the meal--lfresh, and a great way to start breakfast. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience didn't live up to our previous visits. It seemed like an eternity before our food arrived, and when it finally did, everything was only lukewarm. The hash brown Eggs Benedict was the standout entrée and had great flavor, although the upcharge for fruit seemed excessive. The classic Benedict was good but not particularly memorable, and the potatoes were extremely salty. We also ordered the bourbon pecan pancakes with eggs and bacon. The pancakes had good flavor and the toppings were enjoyable, but it's hard to fully appreciate breakfast when it isn't served hot. We'll likely give this restaurant another chance because we've had several excellent experiences here in the past, but today's visit was disappointing compared to the high standard we've come to expect.

I was so disappointed when they removed it from the menu! It was my go-to order every time, and I'd love to see it make a comeback someday. Be sure to sign up for their loyalty program. She asked me how my day was asked me how she could make it better & after we ordered the food I went and sat down for and waited for it to be made and she offered me a drink, and I told her I was OK, and at that moment, I noticed her effort of trying to keep a smile on customers faces and as I was leaving, I picked up my food and headed to the door and I heard her scream across the room. I hope you have a good rest of your day.. I just wanna say I think she's going an extra mile and she needs to be recognized for her service. She was super sweet greeted me. Make sure I was comfortable while I waited as as well as make sure that she said goodbye. If I can give her five stars alone, I would do so everybody needs a Shea in their establishment.
