I had brunch here this past Sunday and I'm a fan! Delicious coffee, awesome lemon ricotta pancakes. I could have taken off a star for the Million Dollar Bacon which was a bit black and hard to chew...but all in all I forgive. The pancakes were topped with a delicious lemon curd and fresh strawberries (the menu said "marinated fruit" but I forgive that as well). For some reason I was initially served only one pancake and told the second was coming. I was too full to eat it when it arrived, but it slid easily off the plate into a cardboard (not styofoam!) go box and it was only a couple hours until I was enjoying it again! read more

I absolutely love their food, however I have a few complaints about this location on Val Vista Rd. The kitchen is open to see into which I do like. What I don't like is that the entire staff was eating and drinking over the area where things are being prepared. Eating over the food prep areas, eating and drinking while wrapping napkins and clean silverware. To top it all off our waitress was clearly sick. Even apologized she had no voice. The manager was also eating while working in the kitchen and front area so I see why this is happening. I will try the other location next time. Tried to grab breakfast with my 4yr old son. Waiting area was packed was told 30min. Watched the waiting room empty and refill. My son was getting antsy and it had been 30 min, seeing several empty tables I asked if it would be much longer. They informed me it would be 30 more minutes. I told them I had already waited 30 and had seen several people seated before me that came in after me. They attempted to tell I hadn't been there that long even though I had a text they sent me at check in proving I had. Upon asking for a manager things didn't improve. I then learned that there is an app for check ins that had created the issue and as a result caused the additional wait and left them with several empty tables so that they could ensure they serviced those using the app. I'm all for technology when applied in a manner that doesn't disrupt. Clearly this business is looking to end walk in business or feels that those whom prefer apps are more in line with their business model. My business will be taken somewhere that I don't have to complain to receive service. read more

We came to lunch today at the Gilbert First Watch as we have often had tasty breakfasts there. I would say it was a great disappointment. The southwestern Cobb salad I ordered had seriously wilted mixed greens. They replaced with a romaine only version and even the romaine had sad, some wilted and some "rusty" pieces. The lettuce did not taste fresh. These were obvious flaws and should never have been put on the plate. The ham and gruyere grilled sandwich my husband ordered was also not up to par...tasted ok but was not even hot when served. Lunch needs serious work. read more

We had a great breakfast this morning because of the service of Colin. He was very accommodating and pleasant. We had made a mistake when placing our order and asked for another order to be made, which we were happy to pay for since the mistake was ours. The remade food arrived fairly quickly, and although the poached eggs were a touch overcooked, it was very good. To our surprise, when the bill arrived, Colin let us know that we would not be charged for both meals. This type of service is above and beyond what most places would do. Today I went with my niece to have lunch and she had the Florentine eggs Benedict and I had the power bowl pesto chick quinoa. I really loved the bowl, it was filling and was priced right. My niece loves it here, she had recommended the place. We had gone on an off hour, but so worth it since we were seated immediately. We had the server Martin, I think, and he was great. So to start off... This place is BUSY! My husband and I decided to give this place a shot and were pleasantly surprised. Upon arriving we found out the wait was quite long and the girl quoted us about an hour,which was fine (went to Starbucks across the street). Returned about 45 min later and we were sat within 10 min. Our server greeted us almost immediately with a wonderful smile and a witty personality, which my husband and I are a sucker for. She was so fast and so prompt during our whole visit. The food was delicious and came out much quicker than we thought considering how busy it was. We are visiting from California and met friends here for breakfast. Very happy with the service and especially the food. This place is great, new favorite! Everyone enjoyed their food. We had a slight issue and they resolved it appropriately and all was good. Only recommendation, the Millionaires Bacon is very good, but hard to justify the up charge over regular bacon and then adding some syrup and pepper to it. Get some thicker cut bacon and it would be amazing and worth the price. We will be back again soon, maybe even tomorrow! read more

The greatest yet most annoying thing ever is the app. It's great to technically create a reservation but the WORST part is that after waiting AN HOUR with my family we learned about it. The first time any of us came and it wasn't until we asked about our table and mentioned seeing families walk in and wait only 15 minutes before getting a table that they told us about the app. There were also empty tables being reserved for those who checked in on the app. That's fine, it's a great idea but they could've told us BEFORE we waited an hour "is this your first time here? Oh we have this great app". By the time I sat down, I was so annoyed at the explanation of the line and the app that I barely enjoyed the meal. read more

What a great breakfast...I had the tri-athlete omelette with a side of the million dollar bacon and hubby had the Elote Mexican street corn hash...he said he's never had such a great breakfast and would have licked the bowl clean if people weren't watching!! My husband and I are huge fans of First Watch. We are always seated and served quickly even though they are usually quite busy. The food and coffee is fantastic and very reasonably priced. This location has really gone down hill since the previous manager quit. We are regulars and have a noticed a definite change for the worse. We have always asked to be seated with Carley or Britany but now are being told we cannot request a specific server. Really? Why can we not spend our money as we choose?. Came in Saturday-after calling to be sure both of them were there- only to discover that THEY WERE NOT SERVING!! What genius would schedule two of her/his top servers to work and not have them SERVING!? Yikes! So we left. We can cook our food. This place has great food and I wish I could have tried it more often but the last couple times I went here with my family we were never seated. We were put on the wait list...and waited...and waited...and waited. We watched other people go in and never come back out so i got curious, walked in to see what was going on. Turns out that they forgot about us! With an hour wasted, we ended up leaving for good old IHOP across the way. I'm giving this one star due to how clean the place was. Other than that it would be a negative. Yes I get the wait to be seated, was expected. Server came out right away took order and brought food. From there on out It went downhill. Food was ehh, nothing special or to write home about. My daughter got the orange juice and that tasted bad. I went my whole meal with no refill on my drink. No one came by to ask how everything was . Had to ask a busboy for more water only to get it after our sever conveniently brought us out check(first time we saw him after food was delivered). We talked to management and no apologies or anything. Seriously the wait staff at Denny's is better. So food was not worth the hype and service was terrible, and it want that busy. My husband and I have been coming here pretty much weekly since they opened. Weekdays we rarely have a wait. The food and service are great. Today I made plans to meet a friend. We used the app that said there was no wait. It seemed odd for 9:30 on a Sunday, but another location had a wait and said you could get in line but this one said no wait - and therefore no option to get on the list. When we arrived, we were told the wait would be 45 minutes to an hour. I asked the host why the app was showing no wait. He asked how long I had been checking the app. I said since 7:30 and showed him the app was still saying no wait when that was clearly wrong. He just shrugged his shoulders and blew us off, saying "Oh well, sometimes technology is glitchy." I have never been treated rudely here before. I wasn't asking for special treatment; I wasn't asking to be put ahead in line. But it would have been nice if he at least pretended to understand to care - or at least understand our confusion and disappointment. First Watch should not promote the app that clearly doesn't do its *only* job. We ended up going to Panera and had a great breakfast. Not sure if/when I'll be back. It's a shame because they have the best scrambled eggs around. But being treated like a human is more important. read more

We have been to this location multiple times and they do not disappoint! First thing is the customer service, is always on point from the hostess, wait staff and management they always have a smile on their face and are eager to help. The food is delicious and you can tell the quality of ingredients they use. I always get the turkey sausage biscuits and gravy. My wife will usually get one of the hash skillets. Love Firstwatch in Gilbert. Since they opened in our area it has been the best breakfast place to eat at and we go here almost every week, sometimes multiple times during the week. My family went here again on Mother's Day and it was extremely packed with quite a long wait. However it again was well worth it. The food was excellent and the staff amazing. This is obviously a well run restaurant because that day with that many people eating and waiting the environment, food and service did not slip one bit.
