Went here on a busy weekend, overall the service was good. There is ample seating for groups. Portions are small, food is priced higher than other brunch spots in the area for the same dishes (omelette, oatmeal, biscuits and gravy, salad). We enjoyed the morning meditation refresher but it's too bad they didn't do free refills on them. Had the grits here but they were quite bland unlike the biscuits & gravy those were superb. Really wanted to like their sunrise coffee but it was too sour/bitter even when adding cream and sugar. If you're here for an event or traveling through staying at a nearby hotel, this spot is across the Hyat and convenuently close to o'hare/rosemont but if you're local it'd probably be better to go to other brunch spots around. read more

On a trip for by beau's bday and staying in the hotel near here was pleasantly surprised on what we found despite the construction happening nearby which provided noise and dust. I was only familiar with First Watch in the deep MidWest and South and as a Chicago native was interested they were here. We had the Honey Crunch Iced Coffee ($6- uber sweet), Salmon and Veg Frittata ($14 - really good), Morning Meditation juice ($5 - refreshing), Regular Coffee ($4 - nothing special), and Frittata Rustica ($13 - a good bang for the buck). The only thing I could have done without is the iced coffee since it was sooo sweet. I felt bad drinking so much sugar. The food and service were great as we were chatting it up with our server Ephron and he was also entertaining the other young ladies around lol. He was a looker so I know they were looking. My first time to First Watch was today. Very nice interior, great service, great food, reasonable prices. I had the SoCal breakfast hash that was just excellent and my friend had the Cobb salad that was the best looking Cobb salad I've seen. She said it tasted excellent as well. My visit was actually terrible. I guess maybe don't go here on a date or with your significant other unless you want your server to flirt with them. My server did not even speak to me to ask how my day was or how my food was until about an hour later when she noticed I didn't touch any of my food(because I was bothered). She was honestly too busy conversing with my boyfriend about how he looked like Michael B Jordan. And telling him how he should watch the new movie this actor is in and all the sex scenes in the movie because he looks like him. It was the weirdest most uncomfortable experience I had while I was in Illinois. I chose this breakfast spot thinking it would be a place with nice vibes but I was very mistaken. Please make sure your servers are talking to both customers especially if they are a couple, only talking to one(specifically the man) and giving him compliments about his physical features and comparing him to an attractive movie star is wildly disrespectful in front of his significant other. I'm from New Jersey so maybe the etiquette is different there, maybe this behavior is totally normal at this restaurant in Illinois but it was very strange and uncalled for in my perspective. The food was amazing for the first time going there! The waitress so kind and welcoming, telling us all about what first watch had to offer. We received our food pretty quickly but maybe because it wasn't super busy on a Monday noon day. I loved what I got which was the egg sandwhich with the potato's and the potato's were seasoned so good! The egg sandwich was lacking a little flavor but the natural flavors of the arugula gave it that needed flavor but dipping it in ketchup was good. I got the kids french toast as well since I wanted to try the toast and it was so fluffy and amazing especially with the butter, did not need the syrup whatsoever. The fruit was so refreshing and you could tell it was fresh loved that. I also got the honey crisp iced coffee but it was very milky and too strong of a honey flavor so I wouldn't get it again. My friend got the market veggie sandwich and she loved it! She said it was very refreshing and a good lunch item! I rate my first time here a 10/10 and will definitely be back. For what I got I paid around 30$ with tip included which I think is pretty fair for the portion sizes. Loved the whole ambience of the inside very beachy and homey. Our family is a big fan of First Watch and was excited to try this new location in Chicagoland. Being next to OHARE, it's extremely convenient and centrally located. Ample free parking to guests. Every new First Watch seems to get better and better aesthetically with fresh & updated modern farm house design, peaceful colors,components and texture- from the tin roof to the painted tiles to the accessories & decor throughout. Even the bathrooms are stylish and inviting with clean white subway tile. There's a big colorful chalkboard with daily specials. There's a variety of seating options available including a bar. The hospitality felt at this First Watch (and frankly any First Watch) is unmatched in the industry. The company must really hire the right type of employees with a positive attitude. The crew seemed upbeat and welcoming. Our server was a delightful woman named Christina who couldn't have been nicer or more attentive. We met GM, Kevin, who seems less of a 'boss' rather a supportive 'coach' and it really shows in the team effort clearly on display here. Regarding menu, the fresh juices awaken your senses. Our suggestion- The Purple Haze. It's a piece of art! Fresh coffee keeps flowing during the visit. The Mocha Mint Iced Coffee drink is better than any coffee shop I've been to. My wife savored the Pesto Chicken Quinoa Bowl. We split an order of Million Dollar Bacon for the table (which lives up to its name) along with a couple Blueberry Pancakes. Delicious. My son loved the taste and presentation of the Farm Stand Breakfast Tacos. My daughter tried the Smoked Salmon Benedict and gave it a 5 out of 5. I enjoyed the Farmhouse Hash and found it so filling, I brought half of it home! The toast and fresh compote it accompanied was like a breakfast dessert. I think it's impressive if you read their private label ketchup, there is no high fructose corn syrup. All the ingredients at First Watch seem premium, fresh and healthy. The woman next to us was savoring her Avocado Toast. It was a heaping piece of Avocado! Portions are so generous here! If you meet a group for lunch, the bill makes it super handy breaking down the price for each person including tax. So it would be easy to split the bill fairly. Prices are reasonable for the overall atmosphere, food quality and over all dining experience. Service is efficient. You could easily be in and out in 35-40 minutes OR you could be very leisurely and you'll never feel rushed. First Watch is such a wonderfully executed concept. The company's expansion is clearly justified. There is such attention to detail. We'll definitely be back soon and look forward to trying more features and specials on the menu board! read more

This was my first visit to any First Watch. When we first arrived, we were greeted in a warm manner and brought to a table where we were given menus. The atmosphere is bright, open and has a lovely patio outside to dine at. We chose to eat inside. Our waiter came over promptly and asked us if we wanted something to drink, so we ordered coffee. The coffee was good... But nothing spectacular although they did provide a variety of flavored creams on the table . We did notice other little things... Like they left a carafe for coffee, they allowed you to grind your own salt and pepper with very nice looking mills, when they served water... They served it with a carafe so you could easily refill - small little things... But definitely enhanced the ambience of the restaurant. We shared our server this was our first visit to the restaurant and that we needed a minute to look at the menu. As a server, I would've taken the opportunity to tell us about the menu what they offer, what their specialties are, and to try to upsell us on some of the specialty drinks, we noticed others had... But we didn't get anything about that. We had no idea until we were halfway into our breakfast that everyone was ordering what looks like very interesting drinks that we might've been interested in getting. What we also noticed halfway into our meal was that everybody else had received, a blue menu in addition to the regular menu. Never got that menu... I'm thinking maybe it had drinks on it... But we'll never know. The menu we did receive though however, had some very interesting and unique dishes. For those who care... They advertise they serve cage, free eggs. We ordered the trifecta and other works omelette. The trifecta came with eggs of your choice, Belgian waffle or pancakes, and a side of meat. I chose the Belgian waffle, which was undercooked in the middle but I chose not to send it back. The bacon was two strips cooked to my liking... Just undercooked, not crisp. The sunny side up eggs were cooked to perfection. The person I was with had ordered the Works omelette which was filled with the variety of meats and two kinds of cheese, as side of potatoes, and sourdough toast. The toast was cold when it arrived... Which you promptly noticed because they had buttered it and the butter had not melted into the bread... It was just sitting on the top. The omelette itself was tasty and the potatoes did have some flavorful seasoning but again we're cool in temperature, not hot. We also noticed that other people had water, we had never been offered water so we had to ask for it halfway through our meal. After getting our water, our server never came back to check on us during the course of the meal and until it was drop off our check. We felt rushed and kind of like eat and get out, I'm trying to flip the table. When we asked him for a refill on our carafe of coffee, he brought it... But didn't refill our empty cups before he left. As far as servers go, there are those you tip 15%, those you tip 20%, those you tip 25%, and those who are exceptional and get tipped more. For lack of a better , this was definitely a 15% server - took our order, got us oral, and refilled our coffee pot and gave us water only upon our request. As far as cleanliness goes a few things that we noticed during our visit. When we arrived, there were two empty cups for coffee, waiting on each table... Both of our cups on the table were dirty... One had a sticky handle and the other had dirt in it. As far as bathroom maintenance, since this restaurant just opened I expected it to be in decent condition. The bathrooms are shared gender ... and I'm guessing because of excessive use... The seat is half falling off of the one in the bathroom I went to and the soap dispenser on the top is already showing signs of rust. I also noticed when I came out of the bathroom that there were some lovely hanging knickknack shelves... That had no knickknacks in them... Kind of looked half put together or somebody stole the knickknacks. I would say this restaurant is OK... I would give it another shot because I do believe service makes up 40 to 50% of the experience you have ... ours was lacking which impacts my feelings towards the place. When we exited, we noticed our server standing by the cash register... He obviously had some knowledge because he helped the cashier figure out how to do our bill... And then we saw him serving outside on the patio. Perhaps he was just a little busy to handle as many tables as he was given???? All-in-all a solid 3-star. read more
