We used to frequent The Egg and I on Lakeline many times over the years for a consistently good breakfast. A year or two ago we went for breakfast and noticed it was called First Watch but were told it was similar to the Egg and I but with a more local Austin feel. As a Leander resident we were stoked to have one open closer to us in Cedar Park. Well, we went for the first time on Saturday morning with my two kids and had quite the experience. The food: My husband ordered Biscuits and Gravy. He was delivered a plate with a bowl on it and what appeared to be unlike any breakfast gravy we've ever seen. The gravy was runny and brown with tiny pieces of ground turkey in it. The biscuits were soaked and soggy and the texture was just that of vomit. I've never seen him send food back before and I'm usually embarrassed to do stuff like this but it was definitely warranted. He asked our server politely if he could send it back and just go with Blueberry pancakes. Our waitress was understanding and happy to help also mentioning that she preferred a "white, pepper gravy" to which we agreed. I ordered the Avocado Toast with two over medium eggs. It was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend that. My two kids ordered chocolate chip pancakes. They each came out with a spoonful of butter on top. As we're spreading the butter my husband and I look at each other wondering why there's green onions in the butter. Our kids are 4 and 2 so as you can imagine this was an issue. We picked them all out and chalked it up to maybe them putting the wrong chive butter on their pancakes. Crisis averted. My kids and I finished our breakfast and after we were done for about 15 minutes and sat patiently still waiting on the blueberry pancakes to be served to my husband. The blueberry pancakes finally come out and sure enough, chive butter as well. We already felt bad for the poor waitress at this point so didn't ask her what that was about but I'm still so very curious why they serve sweet pancakes with chive butter. The coffee is really good. The service: We were greeted by friendly staff and waited only about 10 minutes or so before being seated. Our waitress was great! Very attentive and kind and checked in with us the right amount. You pay at the front of the store and they were also very pleasant. Ambience: Super cute decor with a very local farm fresh feel. Very kid friendly with a great menu and options for kids. Conclusion: Not sure if we'll be back until I know they just put normal butter on their pancakes. read more

I am a fan of the menu offerings and fresh food at First Watch locations, but the Cedar Park First Watch hasn't quite figured out staffing and service. We went on a Saturday at 9 am and the wait was only about five minutes for a table. We waited an additional 10 minutes for our server to even acknowledge our existence and ask for our drink order. When the coffee arrived at the table, the carafe of coffee tasted watered down and almost chemical to the taste. It was almost like it had been run through the grounds a second time. We requested a second carafe with a fresh pot and the second one was clearly burnt. Once we ordered, our food took almost 40 minutes to come out. The kids' food arrived after my husband's and my own. Both my husband's omelette and my omelette were cold and my child's bacon was overcooked. Our food was mediocre at best. Our server was clearly working very hard to service the amount of tables he had but he could not keep up. I give him five stars for his effort and hustle.They were clearly understaffed. The server was accommodating and kind at all times. We probably won't be going back to this location. We did not talk to a manager nor complain about our service as we had already spent over an hour and a half at the restaurant with our two small children and it was not worth the complaint. read more

Visited First Watch for the first time this morning around 8:15am, before the rush, and had the pleasure of having Adrian.... "YO Adrian" as our waiter!! What an absolute delight and very respectful! I mean let's not beat around the bush....kids these days, most of the time, act very begrudgingly to have to work and just give less than adequate service!! Well not Adrian, he greeted me first with a compliment, which was a nice boost to my day and then continued to be helpful, attentive and made OUR experience quite delightful!! I'm not one to really take the time to write reviews but darn-it Adrian deserves a shout out...from Rachele (coffee) and Greg (Diet Coke, we won't judge him,LOL) and just want to encourage Adrian to keep up the outstanding work!! I love this place for breakfast/brunch. They make great coffee and have a variety of creamers unlike many other places. I've had the market scramble the last two times I went and very much enjoyed it. The picture attached is without the goat cheese (my preference). I've also tried some of their juices which are different that just plain ol' orange juice. The few that I have had included ginger and tumeric which gave it a little zing! We opted to use the waitlist via the First Watch App this morning as the first time we visited, we waited for 45 min and hoped this would get us seated quicker but I'm not sure if it did... 8:45am added 4 guests to the waitlist. 9:16 was listed as estimated time to be seated. 9:05 Arrived and checked in with the hostess. 9:25 Table was ready. 9:30 Sat and put in our full order with a child's drink and requested water when the server greeted us. 10:00 noticed other tables leave and get food, so asked (I think a manager) about how much longer. We were told about 5-8 mins as our order was 3 tickets back. 10:08 Food arrived! The child's plate did not get the whole grain toast we ordered, and the steak & egg hash was missing the egg. The server then asked if we wanted the egg and how would we like it cooked? We were a bit confused as we thought that the steak and EGG hash automatically came with egg. By the time we did get the egg, my husband had already finished the plate. 10:45 Paid and left pretty unhappy, but no one seemed to notice. Other things... had to ask twice to get water for the table. And, when presenting the ticket, our server mentioned he forgot the child's hot choxolate and did we still want it? It had been so long I forgot we even ordered it but said sure, we would like it. It came out steaming hot and in a child's plastic water cup. I'm not sure if that's how it is normally served, but on our first visit it had been served in a Togo coffee cup. I've worked in the service industry from fine dinning to turn & burn establishments and management. I've always found that no matter what the error or mistake is, customers can be very forgiving and there experience can still be a positive one, as long as there is communication and a little care. Aside from this experience, it is a beautiful restaurant and the self serve water and coffee "while you wait" is a nice touch. read more

We arrived around 12:45 on a Monday. Nice atmosphere. The wait was about 15 minutes for a table for six. Service was good. Food was good. Mashed avocado on avocado toast was too salty. Someone ordered a sandwich with soup but the waitperson assumed it was for 1/2 sandwich with soup. That turned out to be okay because a whole sandwich might have been too much food, but waitress should have asked before placing the order. Bread on Sandwich was tasty and SUPER fresh. Would have been nice if they toasted it though. All in all, meal was good but nothing special. read more

The wait was quite long which understandable as they have just recently opened. We sat for long periods of time without seeing or hearing from our server. Our water and coffee cups were frequently empty for long periods of time and the food was simply ok. I don't think it was worth the price or remarkable enough to come back to. When it was time to check out there was only 1 person and 1 register trying to handle the 10 people trying to leave while the same line was handling people trying to check in. Very inefficient. We joined the waitlist at 10.45 and we were shown a 70 min wait. We arrived at 11.50 and were ultimately seated at 12.15 which was fine/to be expected on a holiday Monday. Our order was placed immediately but we did not receive our food for another 45 minutes and were told by our waitress that the kitchen was badly backed up and were asking front of house to stop seating people. The menu is pretty good with lots of the normal breakfast options and variations on egg benedicts. They have a small alcoholic drinks menu with 5-6 options for beeakfast/brunch type cocktails like mimosas and bloody mary's. The food was really good - we had the blt benedict and the breakfast tacos with team and coffee. Pricing was very reasonable and all the servers were nice. They have 4 single use toilets and there was a constant line waiting for use in the 2+ hours we were in the building. If I was rating on food, price and service I would give 4 or 5 stars. However the unexpected wait for food, coffee refills and restrooms made this feel like a hectic experience instead of the relaxing brunch we were hoping for. I'm sure that this will improve as the team settles in - this location has only been open one week. We will be returning, perhaps on a weekday to see if it is a better experience. read more

We've visited this restaurant 3 times now and won't be back. The food is decent, but it is pricey - especially given the incredibly frustrating experience - and the service is awful. On the first visit, we weren't in a hurry, so we waited the ~hour long wait. The host seemed a little clueless about how to run a wait, but the restaurant had only been open a couple weeks so we gave it a pass. The food was decent, our server was fine, but we waited for an hour while several tables went empty for 15 minutes + at a time and that was frustrating, but we'd give it another chance. The second visit was on a weekday. We didn't have to wait, and our server was okay, but our food was lukewarm at best. We decided it wasn't a great experience, but that we'd try again. This third visit was the tipping point. We waited for an inordinately long time. We checked in online ahead of time, and we still had to wait quite a while once at the restaurant. We were outside for most of it letting our kid burn off some energy, but as we got closer to the top of the list, we moved inside. We were at the top of the list (1st and 2nd in line) for about 15 minutes, while 6-8 tables in the restaurant sat clean and empty. We were standing near the host stand, and heard them still quoting 45 minute + wait times, and not seating anyone inside. I asked the hosts if there was a reason that we (a party of 4) were at the top of the list, but not being sat though there were 4 available 4-tops. They responded that they were saving them for large parties. None of these tables were anywhere near each other (or even located in places that would make sense for large parties). They decided to "go ahead and give us one of those tables". Great. Once we were sat, service didn't really get any better. 3 of us asked for water in addition to coffee, only 2 glasses were brought. My husband asked for a water glass again, and was told that there were no more clean water glasses, and that she'd bring him one when they were clean. Spoiler alert, he never got a glass. The thing is, they have several types of glasses... why could the server not have provided a different glass? Also how did they run out of glasses when they weren't even seating people at all of the tables? We ordered our food. Simple meals - a couple of omelets and a kid's meal - and it took over a half hour to bring our food. Even then it didn't come out all at the same time. Again, they still had empty tables. So the kitchen also doesn't seem to understand how to handle the capacity of their restaurant. My omelet came with a salad, and thankfully, I decided to mix it around to get to all of the lemon dressing because I found a piece of plastic in it. Had I not mixed it around, I likely would have found it by biting into it. We waited several minutes to see our server again, and I let her know what had found. She brought me new greens, and eventually the manager came over. I appreciated that he stopped by the table, but the interaction was lacking in the professionalism you might expect. He just kept saying things like "wow. I can't believe it.". He did take a 50% off of our bill, but that only seemed to happen because he couldn't figure out how to comp just 1 meal. Overall it was a very frustrating, disappointing, time-consuming experience. We were there for over 2 hours. I've worked in restaurants as a host and server, and I've also been in management in other service industries. Every aspect of this experience was lacking. I haven't been to any other locations since they were changed from the Egg & I, but I have no desire to try them at this point. This restaurant is very poorly managed and we won't be back. read more

This is the third time I've been here. The first time messed up, the waitress stated the eggs benidict did not come with avocado. I knew it did because that is why I ordered it. I looked up and it sure did come with avocado. The manager apologized and said it's because they are a new restaurant. Today I ordered the eggs benedict and I told the waitress to make sure there is avocado on it because the last time it was not on it. Again there was no avocado and the eggs were hard, not over medium. The pancake had onions and arugula on it. The waitress said "well it's busy" I'm sorry being busy is no excuse. We spoke to the manager I told her I cannot eat onions due to an allergy, I would not expect my pancake to have onions. The manager said "we are new but would talk to the the kitchen manager. My daughter and I went in for brunch around 1pm on a Saturday afternoon. The place was busy, but not packed, and we were told it would be a 20 minute wait. We ended up being seated in about 10, which was a pleasant surprise. Our server stopped by and asked me if I would like coffee almost immediately, but then was nowhere to be found for almost 10 minutes. Finally he came back to take our order - I ordered the healthy omelet, and my daughter, the kids chocolate chip pancake, with a scrambled egg with cheese a la carte. I also asked for water, since we still hadn't received anything. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and appeared fine, but as I bit into my omelet, I found it was missing something - or as it turned out, was missing a lot of something - the turkey omelet had a few leaves of spinach and a bit of melted cheese in it - that's it! I flagged the waiter down and showed him the lack of contents, and asked if I could just get a side of turkey, no need to have it re-made. He apologized and responded quickly to the request. When the bill came, I first of all noticed that we had been charged for my daughter's drink (kids meals were advertised as including a drink), and also noticed we had been charged $3.58 for the scrambled egg ($1.89 for the egg itself, and $1.69 for the tablespoon of cheese they put on it!). The food was fine, but nothing special, and service mediocre. For the $30 we spent there, we definitely could have had a better meal elsewhere. I will give them another try, but not anytime in the near future. read more

These pancakes topped with a lemon custard sauce and strawberries were delicious. I ordered a side of bacon and endless coffee and it cost me just under $20 without a tip. This is not your McDonald's price breakfast but they do not serve this at Mc Donald's. The bacon was delcious too. Crispy but not too crispy. I was impressed with the interior of the restaurant. It has a very chic feel to it. I would come here again and would try something different but be ready to drop at least $15-20 dollars not including tip. Also has wifi!! read more

Saw folks going into First Watch and decided to try it, however upon waking in we learned it was invite only fir the trial opening to get the servers, waiters, kitchen staff proven and ready for the official opening day. To our surprise they had had a cancellation and let us come inane try the place out. So that was really great! From there it only fit better. The staff was learning the ropes, but honestly they did really well despite it being the true first time of "working". The food was excellent! I appreciate great food, but great service and treatment of customers is what makes me want to come back! The decor is really great too. Plus they have a drink bar to go with the great food!
