We love venturing into Cedar Park! Thunderclouds has become one of our favorite sandwich shops! Great people working here, great food with cozy inside seating plus a nice outdoor patio to sit on and eat with your pet. An automatic Austin staple is how I would describe ThunderCloud Subs. I took residence in ATX in 2016. While apartment hunting I asked a clerk along the way where I might get a deli sandwich. She replied ThunderCloud. I was in South Austin at some crazy sunrise paint job complex in my $$$ range and just a few blocks away was this ThunderCloud she spoke of. Well... right away I was blown away by the coolness "vibe" of the joint. First thing I noticed was the music. I asked who chose and immediately I was pointed at a longhair bearded tattooed guy cutting something in the back. I said to him, cause he knew I was talking to him at that point... "Surfing w the Alien eh!? He replied... "Right on!" From that moment on I was always on the hunt for a close by location of a ThunderCloud when wanting a sandwich. I have yet to be disappointed by anything less than that type of experience. So that leads me to today's review. It's been 8 years right? So I live in Cedar Park now and I discovered this location my first 3 months in CP. Guess I wasn't craving a sandwich till then. So here I am, 2:30 in the afternoon listening to great music, having had a cool dude w fun things to say make me a delicious sandwich. Beck; Devils Haircut just ended and it's moving into Beastie Boys: Slow Ride. I'm eating a Turkish Delite, which I haven't had in a while. It is not fancy. However, it is a sandwich shop with good sandwiches. Lots of meat with fresh veggies. The service is good too. Thundercloud Subs' menu is nice with a variety of different sandwiches with cute names. There are even vegetarian options. For a few dollars more you can make it a meal with chips and a drink. I love the vibe I feel whenever I visit a ThunderCloud Subs. I usually don't take time to write reviews but today I felt the need. I visited the Cedar Park location today while attending to some business matters in the area. My morning had been pretty stressful and I was just kinds in a sour mood. The person that took my order was very friendly and seemed to notice that I was sad. I already forgot what she said but just the fact that she noticed my sadness and said something that made me laugh really helped me get out of my morning funk. I think her name was Ray because I remember joking that she had been my ray of sunshine. Anyway, just wanted to send a shout out to hopefully let her know her personality made a difference in my day. Just had one the best made Thundercloud Subs I've had in a long time. Big thanks to Alex who created a Hippie Killer on wheat for me. She actually listened to me and made my sub perfectly. A Hippie Killer is a modified Veggie Delite: hummus, avocado, sprouts, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, mushrooms, black olives. I had Alex add spicy pepper relish, lettuce, Provolone cheese, extra Thunder Sauce, a heavy layer of black pepper, and BACON. The food at Thundercloud is always fresh and delicious. First off let me start by saying I LOVE THUNDERCLOUD!! I actually crave their sandwiches...alot. Maybe it's because I worked at the 620/2222 store for a couple years back in the late 90's and the food became part of my DNA. Everything is always fresh and delicious. I got there 10 minutes before my online order was due to be ready, gave my name saying I knew I was early, and the guy behind the counter made it up on the spot and delivered it to me within 2 minutes. No notes on service at all. The food was not great on the other hand. Could've been what I ordered, I'll admit. I got an egg salad sub and potato salad. I was craving egg salad so I really was hoping for good egg salad but it was exceptionally bland. The toppings didn't help. It was super underwhelming. The potato salad had too much going on. Pickles and red onions were unexpected and aggressive. I think I'd give them another shot with a regular sub or something they're known for and skip the potato salad. The service was so redeeming I would love to be able to support this business. @mgmt, if you read this and have recommendations for what to order to fall in love with your restaurant please let me know! read more

Moved to Georgetown about 7 months now. Dying to find a good deli sandwich spot. Stumbled upon ThunderCloud Subs. First of all, love their web site. Very informative and up to date. The same special on the site were in the store. They also offer a veggie sub that's someone actually crafted (check out the "Turkish Delight)! Not just a regular sub, without the meat. Staff was very helpful, portions were ample, sides were fresh. I asked for picked .30 cents. I thought that was odd, until the server pulled out a kosher pickle and started slicing thin cuts to place on my sandwich. Something I would do at home to make it better. Lots of toppings are free and they offer "humus" and "cream cheese" as toppings. I will definitely return. Need to try out a few more items before I make this my Favorite Spot! read more

When I first came to Texas, I couldn't find a decent sandwich to save my life. A co-worker introduced me to Thunder Cloud and I was happy. Years passed and my workplace location changed. No Thunderclouds close to my new work location or home. Recently they opened a Thundercloud close to home. They still have a decent sandwich not great but decent. The veggies are always fresh. The service is always quick. Their prices are ridiculously cheap. Seriously a large roast beef sub for $4.99. I also have to give them kudos for how crispy they can get your bacon. The main issue I have with them is their hands. Yes, the same hands that make my sandwich also handles the money and cash register. It's not that hard to fix, buy them gloves or assign one person to handle the money while the rest of you prep the food. read more

It's the newest ThunderCloud Subs location. It's far away from most people, but not that far from Avery Ranch. It's located in the suburb of Cedar Park, so a lot of residents will come here. Tonight I saw they are all mid-aged customers except me and my son. Strange. Hope people who is above 40 years old, don't feel offended. I ordered hot Philly beef for my mom since she doesn't eat any cold sandwich. I had two sandwiches, Roast beef & Avocado and Austin club. Both of them have avocado in it. So I like both of them. The price is a little bit higher than Subway, but the quality is better. They also have veggie sandwich called Nada Chicken. I'm going to try that at their Arboretum location next time. read more

I've been coming here since I was pregnant with my son. It's the closest TS to Liberty Hill, although I am grateful for the new Georgetown location. This location is always neat and clean. They were so delightful to visit with and you could tell they were hard workers and that they had just come off of a busy streak They still made the time to visit with me while making my sandwich. Just ewww. Ordered a club sandwich with avocado and cucumbers (along with a few other normal sandwich toppings) and ended up with soggy bread filled with brown slimy "guacamole" and frozen cucumbers. It was so nasty I couldn't even eat it nor wanted anything else from them. Just a refund. Managers response was "oh, the avocados just a little brown" and "the cucumbers must have frozen overnight" This was at lunchtime already... They also messed up the salad my boss ordered but at least hers wasn't disgusting...just filled with things she can't eat because of the special diet she's on so she had to pick through it. I have a thunder cloud in my hometown, and absolutely love it, but the customer service and employee's attitudes at this location were awful. They made many comments about the extra work of making sandwiches, complained about what toppings I wanted, and then did not create my order correctly. In addition, they didn't fully wrap my sandwich so as I got it out of my it all fell apart on my lap. An Austin original, always delivers fresh subs. The Texas Tuna is awesome. Perfect blend of quality tuna and has just the right kick with jalapenos. And I'm not the biggest tuna fan but I recognize a great tuna sandwich when I see one. Austin Club is my personal favorite. Top it off with Thunder sauce and you can't go wrong. I've been a Thundercloud addict since college, and the food quality is great at this location. My real problem with this location is the service. You expect when you go to Thundercloud that you will probably get someone who is grungy, slightly indifferent and all around weird. I get that. But every time I go to this location, the employees are slightly rude. And they turn the music on so freaking loud that I have to repeat my order about three times. As amusing and fun as that is, it sort of cuts into the desire to want to frequent this location. I have sadly found myself going to Subway more just to avoid the awkward, rude exchanges. read more

Ordered sandwiches on 10/05/2021 12:20 pm. We ordered the Austin club and the Ny Italian. When I got to where we were going and opened the sandwiches they had so much oil on them that the bread had turned into an oily mush. The lettuce on the the sandwiches had a brownish Tint to it. I am not sure if the lettuce was old or if that's from the oil. We called to speak to manager and we're told that "We Don't have a manger." My wife is a nurse and was on her break so we didn't really have time to keep calling back or go back to speak to a manger. The bread was so soggy that we ended up picking the meat of and eating what ever else we could salvage off of them. There are several other thunder cloud locations, and the food has always been made correctly, and the employees have been great. Now, here is a place that Austin can proudly call it's own. What keeps me coming back to ThunderCloud is that it's not a national sandwich shop chain. I get tired of the same old thing, the place that everyone goes to. I crave a little spice in my routine! ThunderCloud is not your run-of-the-mill Subway, it doesn't pop out sandwiches like a factory. ThunderCloud is not your momma, because, darling, your momma just doesn't make ham and cheese like ThunderCloud does. ThunderCloud is a bonafide original. I love that the employees aren't incredibly fake with their routine, and I greatly enjoy the laid back atmosphere. But, more then anything, I'm a sucker for their Elvis shake. Coupons for two free small subs received. My son and I went back to try again. The sandwiches were great, as always. I hope the staff continues to work on customer service skills. Our sandwich maker that day was a young lady. One of her tattoos (I love tattoos!) ran the length of her forearm. It was an image of a female - I think it was a mermaid. The problem was that the top half was bare and showing large breasts that looked realistic - not cartoonish. Fine with me, except I'd rather my kids not have a peek - especially my 12 and 13 yo boys.
