I'm very sorry to say, I wasn't that impressed with ThunderCloud Subs. The service was decent, the dining area was pretty clean, the people were friendly, but to me the subs were a bit tasteless. Now, mind you. I am always looking for something a little better than I am used to, and I can appreciate that TC has super fresh veggies and fresh bread (which I thought was a bit tasteless as well). But it seems that the amount of filling in the sub, left a lot to be desired. There just wasn't much in the sub at all, which probably directly relates to my idea of it being bland. On my last visit, there was a strong vinegar like smell/taste on my sub.. more sour than vinegar actually. Pretty nasty to say the least, and no, after that, I didn't want a replacement. The sweet tea wasn't sweet, so I checked the unsweet. It wasn't sweet either, so at least it didn't get mixed up. I just added sugar to my glass and told them. The wind was blowing like crazy and no matter where you sat, every time the door opened, you were blasted with cold air. The only thing I enjoyed was the bbq chips, so it was just a bad visit all around. ThunderCloud is typically ok, though. I personally found it to be a bit boring but if you are looking for something different than Subway or Which Wich, it may be just your thing. They are typically busy, so who knows? read more

YUMMMM!!! I love love love Thundercloud subs and this location is no different. In fact, it is my favorite location of all the many locations I've been to in town. The folks are friendly and remember me when I come in, they are always quick with service too! My husband and I both love their cold cuts, I am a California Club girl while he is a NY Italian man. One thing that stands out for me is that in other locations the staff can get weird about tips...for example, I left a dollar for one small sub once in the South Austin location and they yelled out the door at me "I'm just trying to make it through school here, Jesus!". I was mortified and never went back. I thought a dollar was more then enough for his antisocial "help" and it was only one small sandwich anyway. Ugh, boo Manchaca/Slaughter location! This location, however, is always very appreciative of tips, which I always leave bc I love how kind and quick they are. They always have fun music on that I usually end up Shazaming bc I like it. :) Definitely hit this place up if you haven't already!! read more

Stay home and make a PB&J, it'll be much better. I did an online order with the Cedar Park location today, 3 hours in advance. Went in to pick it up and waited about 2 minutes to be greeted, I was the only customer. Got home and all 3 sandwiches were made wrong, this was an online order, they have the details right in front of them tonread, no way of misunderstanding. The place was dirty, employees appeared to be homeless, or just no pride in appearance, and the food was bad. read more

Walked in to what felt like luncheon after a funeral. There were only a few people in the restaurant eating but the staff just seemed irritated or sad, I don't really know. The food was just okay. I have been to Thundercloud in Georgetown and it was just a better experience out there. I felt the customer service was just lacking enthusiasm or any kind of happiness whatsoever. A smile would have went a long way. Maybe they all just got a decrease in their wages, again I don't know but it just seemed strange in there. I did look at Yelp beforehand and seen the low ratings so I went in with pretty low expectations but still they managed to disappoint. Customer service can go a long way, my advice to management is to try creating a better environment for customers. Otherwise people like myself, who again aren't expecting a Jimmy's John's welcome but maybe less attitude, won't be coming back. I even gave a good tip in attempt to make the sandwich making job a little less unbearable but even then, no thank you, nothing. read more

I really like ThunderCloud and this location offers the gluten free bread, which I've been dying to try! From the flavors I picked up, the bread is an almond meal based bread and it tastes pretty good. It does cost quite a bit extra. It's a really heavy bread though and it fills you up really quickly. I was satisfied with my sandwich until I got home and started getting the worse stomach pains. My poor reaction to the sandwich was pretty instant and I had ongoing stomach pains for the rest of the day. Upon further research, most commericially prepared gluten-free sub style bread loaves are baked with microcrystalline cellulose (aka: wood pulp). It's a chemically modified non-food item that is now being used in gluten-free baked goods... and trust me, it gives your tummy something to cry about! Like I said, I really like the ThunderCloud establishment. I just hope they investigate their gluten-free bread source because wood-pulp really isn't something my tummy can endure again. read more

Not bad if you want a quick sandwich. It has more options and add-ons than Jimmy Johns or Jersey Mike's, and much fresher than Subway. Prices aren't bad either, although beware most of the extra ingredients do cost something and it'll start to add up. read more

This staff is awesome! I always have a good experience with Thundercloud but this location is especially great. They're friendly, they go above and beyond for their customers. I saw them give a struggling old lady extra attention and then surprised her with a free sub. Class act! Oh and the sammichs are always top notch! read more

I absolutely love this thundercloud subs location. Thundercloud subs are amazing in general but at this location the guy helping us was so incredibly nice, and was very fast at making the sandwiches. We took them home and opened them and they came out perfect. I wish I knew his name, but he really made our day and also made perfect subs. Very clean location in a convenient location. My favorite sandwich place in Cedar Park. it's my favorite sandwich place, anywhere! They take extra care with gluten free orders, the food is always good, fresh and consistent. The Cedar Park location has great parking, rarely a long wait, and the sandwich artists are always happy and polite. Plus there is ample seating inside and a small area outside. Probally the only thing that keeps me going back is the fast service and a dirt cheap sandwich way better than any subway. The avocado spread can be quite heavy and thats all you can taste. The clubs work best for me. read more

I've gone to this location 1 time just because it was there...my haircut place was right across the lot until it closed down. The sandwich and the potato salad were really good and what I actually expected for the price. They didn't re-invent the sandwich or anything, but again, this place is very affordable. I have trouble branching out because I love these two so much. However, today I'm going to be more typical and having a turkey on wheat. Get the spicey mayo/mustard or whatever it is! I have been a Thundercloud Subs fan since I was a teenager - I remember when they had a location in front of HEB in Cedar Park (now Smoky Mo's)!!! Their sandwiches are always fresh & piled with yummy toppings! I personally love avocado and they are not afraid to slather it on there! You can't beat their weekly sandwich special deals & it is good to get you to try other sandwiches!! I only wish they offered light mayonnaise!! Been going to thunderclouds since the 90's and always a solid sandwich. The staff is always professional and efficient and you really can't beat the price on whatever is the daily sub. More often than not I get the Austin club salad which is always great. Love the eclectic music variety and really like the fact these guys are local. read more

This was my first experience at Thundercloud even though I have lived in Austin for 7 years.. Strange how I missed it all these years.. I have to say I like it, especially the soft, tasty bread that I ordered that housed the roast beef and guacamole sub I ordered. It was very good. The service wasn't all that great as the were training some new person. Some older guy was sitting in the restaurant with a laptop and headphones doing business of some kind which leads me to believe that they have wireless. His headphones looked like just got off work at McDonald's drive-thru, but I bet he thought he looked cool. I was lured in via coupon so the price was very good, although without the coupon it is probably just about right. I saw some young Chinese woman there with a toddler.. She didn't look like she knew what she was doing... Strange, as most of the clientele are more mature. Hope she isn't offended by my review. read more

I've been to this place once and will never return. I actually wrote a letter to their management at the time I was so grossed out. I had never been so we decided to give it a try. What really turned me off is that they don't use gloves here when making the food. I stood there watching them make my sub with there bare hands and I ended up walking out and not buying the Sub. The employees there are handling money and are supposed to wash their hands but I noted at least twice while waiting they did not. Lately there were flys everywhere as they had the door open. I did not want to get sick so I walked and will never return. read more

I have loved Thundercloud since I was a kid. This location is fabulous! They are so nice and accommodating. I had my toddler with me today, and the nice man with the long ponytail and glasses got me a high chair and offered me so much help! It was lovely that he anticipated my needs and reached out! My wife highly recommended over Subway, so I took the kids there yesterday. Although they've been in business for over 30 years, you'd never know it upon entering. The place is shabby: miscellaneous pictures on the wall; posters slapped up here and there; the counter is too high and the music too loud which made communicating with the "sandwich artist" challenging. The "extras" (sandwiches only come with lettuce, tomato and onion) are not priced-out so you have to ask. The bread was good, but you are limited to either white or wheat. Finally, the metal tables and chairs/stools are wobbly and the three of us took turns tilting the table all around. Perhaps their ingredients are better, and maybe a bit cheaper (depending on how many extras you normally like on your sub sandwich), but overall, this was a disappointment. If you don't like Subway, try Firehouse. If you want a good Deli sand which, Jason's Deli is probably the best available in the Austin area. read more
