We are now obsessed with first slice! We have been meaning to go here for years and somehow everything we are available to go they are closed. We finally found an opportunity after five years and holy crap it's delicious! We started off with fresh lemonades and slices of pie. The winner of the pie is always the peanut butter slice. My husband ordered a sandwich with ham and cheese with a side of chips while mine was a delicious turkey and avocado with a side salad. Guys, this place is so good. Such quick service, nice local feel, and great ambiance. We will be coming back and making an effort to learn their hours and go when they are open.

My employer also enlisted First Slice for our Thanksgiving Pie Give Away. They have a large variety of pies to choose from. In addition to the traditional pies, they also create some unique ones. The s'more and chocolate peanut butter pies looked divine. The rep was helpful and patient with our orders. Pies were delivered on time for the give away. I'd definitely recommend First Slice to my family, friends and companies looking to cater.

Cute little pizza! Looks better than tastes, but can't beat the $7 price.

What maniac decided mustard and pickle relish should be on a spinach, mushroom, and cheese sandwich? Because that sort of crazy thinking deserves an award. It's freaking delicious. The polka dot cheesecake is a real treat, as is every pie I've had there. I really appreciate what they do for the community to address food insecurity and was shocked to see that, while I've told everyone I know about them and sung their praises, I have failed to write a yelp review! But I've talked myself into walking down to get dinner, so let's call it even?

I just had to walk out of this place minutes ago. They 100% don't want customers and will actively try not to serve you. It's currently 5:48pm and went in to pick up a couple pizzas and a polka dot cheesecake for my kids. Even though they publicly say they close at 7pm, the attendant told me they close at 6 and can't serve me. To my surprise, I said I thought you closed at 7, and also it's only 5:45 right now. He said they can't serve me the pizza because it's past 5:45pm. I'm completely surprised because it's clear they just don't want to work and would rather leave early than make a sale. I hope the owner realizes what's happening and either trains the staff or makes some changes. Otherwise vacate the location and let a business take that spot that cares about customers.

I had a much better experience here than my visit to the Ashland location of First Slice. First of all, First Slice in general, has a great cause. They help feed folks in need and help employ those who are in a halfway situation. The food is wonderful. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. It is located conveniently right off the Rockwell Brown Line stop. I enjoyed the French Silk and the Peanut Butter pie. They had been properly dethawed which was not the case at the other location of First Slice. This will definitely be one of my favorite cold day hangouts. I really love the fun wallpaper. The floor also has a lot of character. My only wish is that they had some more seating space for singles or couples. However, I know resources and space is limited.

A neighborhood gem. Their iced coffee is delicious and so is their hot chocolate and their blueberry scones. They are a pie joint, so I'm looking forward to trying my first slice next time. The environment is cozy, colorful, and I really enjoy how natural light radiates throughout the joint. There are a few tables, but seating has never been an issue for me. During the warm months, they also have outdoor seating. Also service is always friendly!

Came in with a pretty big appetite so got two apps: Beet Salad and, of course, their phenomenal Wisconsin Cheese Curds. Both of them hit but I just have to say something extra about these cheese curds. I've had a lot of fried cheese curds in Chicago and they all just tasted and even looked like mozzarella bits. A big disappointment. But these are so different. They are unique in flavor and the tempura batter is just right. They are definitely a head above the rest. These right here are the gold standard of cheese curds in my book. The beet salad was incredibly refreshing accompanied by a yogurt sauce and pepita seeds which gave it a great added texture and flavor. For my main I decided on their fan favorite Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich and after the first bite I knew exactly why it was a fan favorite. A generous portion of breaded chicken breast fried to a perfect crisp! I'm so glad this place exists! Farm Bar I definitely a favorite of mine. Amazing fresh food served with great service...10/10

Atelier delivered a solid experience, but one that ultimately felt a bit restrained. The service was attentive and knowledgeable, guiding us through the menu with confidence, while the wine pairing stood out as a strong addition, enhancing several of the courses nicely. When it came to the food, each dish was good and thoughtfully prepared, but many courses felt too simple in execution. The flavors were clean and pleasant, yet they often lacked the depth, layering, and progression you hope to experience throughout a tasting menu. With each new course, I kept anticipating a buildup--something bolder, more intricate, or more surprising--but that moment never quite arrived. The menu did offer an enjoyable journey through different regions, which added variety and interest. Still, while the dishes were well-balanced and enjoyable, they didn't reach the level of complexity or memorability expected at this level.

While there was some wide variety of texture and display of food, I wish the flavor of each dish would be a little bit more powerful than what they are. You truly can't beat the freshness of ingredients used and the delightful flavors that the chefs curate so well. Today j had the chicken Caesar wrap with the Eden salad & my husband had the burger with French fries- both dishes were absolutely DEVINE and we both really enjoyed the use of oven roasted tomato on each dish. The burger was delightfully savory and bursting with flavor, the fries were the perfect level of crispy and not too salty! The Caesar wrap was fresh and light while still packed with flavors, the chicken was cooked perfectly and not over seasoned. The side salad was delicious and not too big with nice touch of sweetness from crisp apples and dried cranberries. My favorite part of our meal was the pear and almond danish we finished with. The pastry was so crispy and delicious, but not overly oily or buttery & the filling was not overly sweet and perfectly balanced. Service was fabulous as always. TRULY, they exceed all expectations, every single time.

Stacked unapologetically high, this burger is everything you want and more: juicy, perfectly seared patties layered with melty cheese, crispy bacon, and those golden, crunchy fried onions that take it completely over the top. Every bite is rich, savory, and just messy enough to remind you you're eating something seriously good. The toasted bun somehow holds it all together (barely), soaking up every bit of flavor without getting lost in the chaos. And then... the shoestring fries. Thin, crispy, golden perfection--light but addictive, with that ideal crunch that makes it impossible to stop at just one (or ten). They're the kind of fries you keep reaching for without even realizing it, especially dipped in that creamy, tangy sauce on the side. And let's not forget the drinks--just as good as the food. Refreshing, perfectly balanced, and the kind you sip slow while taking it all in (but somehow they disappear way too fast). It's not just a burger--it's one of Chicago's most iconic bites for a reason. Bold, indulgent, and absolutely worth every single napkin you'll need after. The ambiance inside is GORGEOUS!

Loved the 90s female R&B playlist they had going! Little Bad Wolf has been on my list FOR YEARS to try the burger! My husband got the burger with fried onions and I got some Bao because those also looked delicious and were a popular menu item. Honestly the 3 stars are only that high because of the service. Our server was friendly and attentive + the food came out hot and quick. Unfortunately, the food was pretty disappointing. The burger was swimming in a puddle of grease and just picking it up made your hands greasy + was dripping grease. The fries that came with it were floppy, soggy, and sad...but at least warm? I personally wouldn't order this again. The Bao were better, but small for the price and honestly were just okay? It was nice they gave you sauces you could add, but I found the Bao's to already have enough sauce so I didn't need them. Overall I left feeling confused and disappointed. I don't feel the need to come back here - Little Bad Will was a one and done experience for me.

Taking first place is the food; always excellent and inventive. This week, the menu featured Mexican-inspired dishes in recognition of Cinco de Mayo. Everything, from the shrimp ceviche to the short rib tacos, was amazing. In second place (or really tied for first) is the service. From the greeting at the door to the moment you leave, you'll experience friendly, professional service that goes above and beyond without feeling stuffy. We arrived five minutes before our reservation, but our table wasn't ready yet. Rather than ignoring us while we waited, three people on the team apologized to us. But, as if the apologies weren't enough (which they were), one server brought us shots of Cava while we waited. Once seated, the server brought us a free appetizer and another gratis shot of Cava after dessert. This more than made up for the nine minutes into our reservation time that we waited. Rounding out third place is the ambiance- clean and modern but warm and comfortable. The lively atmosphere can be slightly loud when the place is full, but this is hardly a "ding" on everything else that makes Tala House a resounding success! If they keep up this level of food, service and ambiance, I'll be a customer long into the future.
