Glad to know this cake shop before 2020!! Jump into this shop for their Tiramisu Latte and luckily we got a 2021 teddy bear cake! What's more, we purchased one tiramisu and a caramel banana tart! They are all very nice! Always the best without much expectations. To be honest, they are totally out of my expectations! Will definitely order again next time!

This store is located off of Minoru Boulevard right next to the Hilton Hotel. There is plenty of retail parking spaces behind the storefront. Currently, First Bite is not offering any indoor dining, so I ate my dessert in the Hilton Lobby. I tried their chestnut coffee chiffon and the chestnut tart, both sold by the slice for $9 CAD each. The chestnut coffee chiffon was mildly sweet with some coffee flavor, which is what I prefer. There was a thin layer of whipped cream on the top and back of the cake, which tasted as expected. There were also some tidbits of chestnut in between the two layers of cake, but I wish there were more. Overall, the chestnut coffee chiffon was a 3.5/5 for me. The chestnut tart was still frozen solid when I tried it. It was not defrosted yet, so I could not judge its taste accurately. This also meant that their cakes are not made fresh, but rather make in large batches, frozen, and then defrosted.

I visited this dessert shop after hearing about them from a Vancouver radio station where the DJ was trying out their food and making raving comments on how good it was. I tried two slices of their chestnut flavored cakes because I am addicted to chestnuts. The coffee chestnut cake was of perfect sweetness as it was not loaded with sugar. There was also a mild hint of coffee, which was nice. The chestnut tart seemed to be still semi-frozen, so I chomped on it like it was an ice-cream sandwich. The flavor seemed ok, but I am not sure if the tart was supposed to be defrosted before consuming.

NEW CAKE PLACE FIRST BITE * A newly opened cake shop has opened in Richmond and let's just say it's officially became one of my favourite ones. * Taro salty egg yolk bite ($6.95) ~ the taro paste on top is very good the tart at the bottom gives the nice balance of the salted egg yolk. * Rose lychee tart ($8.75) ~ stunning! The rose is so flavourful and the lychee is so good! This is my favourite one! Best combination of flavours. The bottom tart crust is nice and perfectly crisp! * Coconut chocolate tart ($8.75) ~ so cute, the bunny is sweet but good! The tart itself isn't too sweet the coconut jelly layer adds nice texture. The chocolate and coconut combination is delicious together. * Caramel banana tart ($8.75) ~ this was great the bananas were nicely caramelized, and the caramel was a good sticky texture balance to the tart. It wasn't too mushy which was good and the caramel held its shape nicely. * Soy milk shiratama chiffon ($8.50) ~ the Mochi on top were regular mochi. The cake itself isn't too sweet and has a hint of the soy milk taste not too strong. * Caramel earl grey chiffon ($8.50) ~ layers are so nice love the texture. Not too sweet so the earl grey tea flavour elevates a lot. The jelly layer of earl grey is very good! * Thank you for having us #media #mediatasting. * 9.5/10 ~ it was so good I loved everyone of them. Rose lychee and earl grey is 100% must!!! * 8/10 ~ it's not the cheapest but it's definitely worth each bite! Very cute and delicious! * 10/10 ~ take out only. Mask required.

The dining space is small but the decoration inside makes you feel like you transported to a different country. Marshmallow Thick Toast 4/5 The toast was about an inch thick, well toasted outside with a pillowy soft center. There's some melted chocolate on the bottom that added to the smores vibe. The marshmallows on top weren't very thick, so it melted to an even layer with perfect browning. The toast was cut into 9 pieces so it can be shared but given the portion I think 1-2 people would be fitting for this dessert. We weren't too hungry, so we shared amongst 4. Jasmine Tea Jelly 4/5 I really liked how fragrant the jelly was and that the jelly was a softer jelly that reminds you of Aiyu jelly. The after taste was a bit bitter but I feel like that tells me it was brewed and made and not just bought to serve. It's served with a splash of half and half I believe. To-Go I wanted to try and compare all the tea flavored jellies they had, Jasmine, Oolong and Earl Grey Tea Jelly. Packaged with small packets of the half and half to add later. The best was OOLONG 5/5- it had a slight roasted tea flavor that was refreshing and comforting at the same time. What you would want from a milk tea. Second best was Jasmine - fragrant and less bitter than the one I had in restaurant, typical jasmine flavor that's lightly floral and not too heavy Earl Grey 3/5 - it was good if you like earl grey like me, but it has an intensely strong fragrance and flavor that might be off-putting if you're not used to the taste. It was by far the strongest floral taste and smell of the three. I'd definitely be back to get these to go, they carry well and you can cross borders with them :)

We stopped by at lunchtime at first, but they weren't open yet. Since we really wanted to try it, we called again in the evening to confirm their hours before heading back--and we're so glad we did. The service was excellent from start to finish. They were incredibly patient and took the time to answer all of our questions thoroughly, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The food did not disappoint. All the Taiwanese snacks we tried were delicious and full of authentic flavors. Our absolute favorite was the shaved ice--it was refreshing, perfectly textured, and just amazing! Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for genuine Taiwanese food and warm, attentive service. Definitely a 5-star experience!

It was fun to eat on the tatami mats in the back - we got the whole space to ourselves since we came on a weekday. Note that the sets come in 2 and whatever tea you choose is for both people. The set was unique and very filling - it came with a mini unagi rice bowl, matcha yogurt with berries, sweet corn custard, 2xnigiri, and hojicha cake, etc. Their menu changes every few months though so best to check their Instagram to see what's new. Warning: Parking on the lot is 1.5hrs only for the whole day and they are strict and will ticket you - this includes if you are running errands earlier in the day in the same lot and had left and returned. Safer to park in the farther lot for 3hrs of free parking.

The matcha drinks and desserts were beautifully presented and tasted rich and authentic, with that deep, fragrant matcha flavor that's never too sweet. We have today: Hojicha shaved ice, replaced with matcha ice cream. This location in Richmond had ran out of Hojicha ice cream for a long time. We asked every time when they will have hojicha ice cream back and staff doesn't know either. Hojicha Chestnut Shortcake, Cake is soft and fluffy, and very too sweet. It is always my favorite. This time i gave a 4 stars is because they discontinue serving Onigiri ( rice ball) and savory item. That's too bad! I love their Onigiri and ramen! Staff said the one inside the open road Toyota still has savory item. Maybe next time I will try that location

The decorations are dated and they have a couch and TV riiiiight behind the ordering counter, lol. God bless the Chinese uncle that owns and runs the place... he and the lady taking the order barely spoke English, so we stumbled with our Mandarin. I think they even spoke Taiwanese with each other?!? Instead of ordering multiple drinks, we just ordered the one mango lover's coconut pudding. Honestly, we didn't know what the heck we ordered and we ordered it to go. It took a little while to prepare, but when it came we were presented with a coconut wrapped in cellophane. We were intrigued and had to open it right then and there. We were treated to a coconut FILLED with fresh mango, mochi, and pudding... all in a fresh coconut - the coconut meat was thin, so you knew it was juicy and fresh! My oldest kid did his best to claim it all for himself as we all wanted a taste. In the end, we did the only thing logical and had to order a second. I would absolutely, hands-down, recommend this place. The family that owns the place deserves our patronage and they've earned it in their own humble way. God bless.
