What a cute little sweet shop! (except it's not very little, it's actually quite big.) I was drawn in at first because of the window displays. Once I entered, I was immediately greeted with free samples of their cake! How delightful! Even though they were just samples, they were decorated little cubes of goodness. I loved the attention to detail. They had cupcakes for sale as well as cakes and lots of chocolates and cookies all over the store. I had to get their cupcake - the seasalt caramel one. It was again delightful once I finally got a chance to eat it. They packed it so well in a cute box and even gave me napkins and utensils to go because she was so considerate of how I would share or eat it later outside. She even gave me a plate so I can take the cupcake out later!!! If I lived here, I would totally come here often and try all their desserts. Highly recommend!!! Very eye catching store. They have a delish gluten free cupcake. Oddly, the sample's frosting is more delish than their typical vanilla buttercream offering. Having said that, the gluten free cupcake is not dry. I wish they'd offer other gluten free cupcakes. Staff is friendly. Pricey store but I could see by the details and designs that they need a skillful staff to do all that jazz. read more

This place seriously impressed me the first time I walked in, and I continue to shop here regularly because everything about this small shop in Steveston is amazing! The service is spectacular. This quaint shop is extremely welcoming and the staff here are very helpful and not pushy at all. They also offer their customers full sized chocolate mousse cups as samples, and they even give you a choice of lemon, coffee, or the daily flavour! When I first came here to browse, I wasn't planning on buying anything because I was just waiting for my friend, but then I felt a bit awkward taking such a generous sample and not purchasing anything. I ended up buying a couple items as gifts and my relatives loved them! They have seasonal chocolate "lollies", decorated with changing themes such as Halloween bats or Easter bunnies! These are very popular and make great gifts. They also sell chocolates by the piece, which are quite expensive ($2-$3 each) but they're worth it! My favourite chocolates would probably be the Matcha Envy and Secret Pride. I feel like the owner of the shop truly treats his customers well and they keep coming back because of both high quality products and high quality service. The staff here will not cheap out on anything and will do their best to serve you with the best customer service! I remember one time I only bought 6 of their home made cookies and a few chocolates (my purchase was a bit less than $10) and the cashier packaged everything nicely into a bakery box, wrapped it, put it into a fancy paper bag, and added wrapping paper on the top! She put so much effort into making the product look nice that I felt like I was at a high-end store in downtown! There are also a container full of mini complimentary cards that you can take to write a small note to put in your bag as well. PS. I would never have discovered this place if it wasn't for the effort of Wendy Y. and Simon K. Today there was a small gathering for a Bday party. How many chocolate shops do you know have a small demo kitchen, for lack of a better term, to allow for demos, classes, workshops, or tastings paired with wine? I certainly don't know of any. I know of chocolate workshops, but this is the only chocolate and wine taste pairing that I've heard of. Well, I was here today with a group of peeps and fellow Yelpers for a wine and chocolate pairing. Our hosts from the shop were extremely gracious and quite willing to answer our various questions about chocolate in all its glory. I missed part of the talk because I had a hellava time circling the block looking for parking but I got there and it was on! Did any of you know that cocoa beans from different parts of the world have different taste profiles? Did you know that depending on how they roast the beans you can get different taste profiles? So it would follow that different roasters from the same geographical area of the cocoa beans can produce different taste profiles. I learned a lot today. They sure have a lot of passion about their chocolate. I also learned that chocolate will absorb flavours and aromas of anything near it. So if you plant cocoa trees on a former banana field, the cocoa will take on the banana flavour. If you place chocolate near garlic in the refrigerator, you're gonna get garlicy chocolate. :P The wines: Church and State Chardonnay. This is a BC VQA wine and was served first. I found the wine to be medium bodied, not too heavily oaked, with a gentle finish. It paired well with the white chocolate and lemon citrus chocolate. The Grinder Pinotage. This is a varietal from South Africa. I don't have too much experience with pinotage. I did note that it was a darker wine similar to a merlot or cabernet. The bouquet had a nice aroma and the taste had hints of coffee. Paired nice with the raspberry truffles and dark chocolates. The third wine served was the Apothic Red Wine from Napa Valley California. This was a blend of three varietals syrah, zinfandel, and merlot. This wine was a fruit bomb of cherry flavour as soon as it lands on your tongue. I tried it with all the dark chocolates that were available and they all worked well. I enjoyed this wine the most. Interestingly, I was talking with the wine guy and he mentioned that this wine is considered to be "semi cultish". If you've heard of Screaming Eagle from Napa Valley, then you know what I am talking about. The one memorable taste pairing that I had was the chai truffle with red wine. WOW!!!! is the only word to describe this. I've done the wine and cheese, and the wine and food pairing more times than I can count, but this was SOMETHING ELSE! I've tasted first growth Bordeaux as well as boxed non vintage stuff, but today was exceptionally different and a lot of fun. I need to throw a wine and chocolate partaaaay! One other memorable aspect of this gathering was that I asked the proprietors whether they've done black coffee and chocolate parings, and they affirmed my question, so on came the espressos!!! If you haven't clued in yet, I LIKE COFFEE. Black as they come. Good black coffee with good dark chocolate is heavenly bliss for me. The espresso and chocolate pairings did not disappoint, especially with the chai truffle. I think I managed to get a couple of converts today. :D One last side note, I came from the dentist right before entering this shop. I kid you not. Glad no fillings fell out! read more

What a cute little shop! They've got very tasty cookies and some nice chocolates, as well as a surprisingly variety of other stuff like fancy jams and vinegars. The pralines/chocolate truffles they sell are also quite tasty, as are the cupcakes, and the staff are kind and offer very nice samples. It's not a huge selection of any particular kind of thing, but it's a really nice place to stop by and browse and sample, and it's well worth buying a few treats here. Check it out! read more

It was by chance that me and Wendy Y. even discovered this place, no reviews prior to, no advertisements, no word of mouth, just a quick drive into Steveston Village for me, and my passenger was able to see a place with a 'cute' name. It looked very new, very bright, very pretty, on a nice sunny day, and the presentation of chocolates lined their counters, we were welcomed by the friendly staff, and before anything else, were preseneted an array of chocolates that they make, to sample. A sample usually half a piece, a full one if your lucky, but they let you try almost all of what they make in house here before you buy. Before you even take a bite out of each chocolate, they tell you what is the ingredient and even some story of some client behind the piece (if they bought a whole bunch for a wedding party, etc.). There is some very high quality chocolate made here, and hiding from the rest of you who don't venture this far! I'm telling you now, if your in this part of town, stop your car, and get in this place. When we first came here, they were on the verge of expanding their shop, and planning to offer classes in pairing up chocolates with wine. That was then, and we returned for my partners small gathering (aka birthday get together!), armed with friends and some Yelper's at hand, we entered this place again, and were treated to their newly renovated expansion side, which is also a part kitchen for their production of their sweets they sell to everyone (and also supply chocolate to the RiverRock... if my memory serves me). A center counter where all 9 of us stood around, while Kathy (the passionate owner) stood to tell us all about cocoa, and the realities and myths that surround this passion of hers. Also we had her husband Lawrence, who was the one to tell us about the wines we were about to have with each piece of chocolate. You could feel the enthusiasm from each into what they love, and how they shared it. Herman asked some great questions into wine, where Lawrence was quick to answer. Kathy brought her take into the matter with what nodes of flavours came out of the chocolates after being paired with the wines. Each to their own, and to that their tastebuds as well, I will still remember the eye opener with the coffee like deep red, and the chai chocolate and the reaction Herman made. Even with Larry L.'s dietary restrictions, they were able to give him his very own sugar-free chocolate to enjoy with the rest of us, and a piece that many of us asked for more that was originally on his own plate (salted chocolate!). It was an enjoyable education of discovery for all who were there to spend that afternoon, and know that chocolate can also be paired with wine, but to understand the passion of the people here. Kathy also sends her full time employees to Montreal to learn about cocoa, so each has a good understanding. We were even offered there expresso to pair with the chocolate pieces we had left, and I can say that on this day, the people who were here, who never have been here learned about a great hidden chocolate place to add to their own list when they think of that simple thing named chocolate. I was amazed the first time coming in, and as I said near the end of our afternoon here, when we first came in, we would be coming back, knowing that they did wine pairings. If you haven't tried this, and always only thought of cheese and meats, chocolates will definitely open your palate differently. If that is not for you, try their other classes, where they even bring in one of the chefs from the RiverRock. Not into classes, come for the product, you will find a chocolate that is you, from white to dark, fruits to interesting mixtures, even one with a vile of alcohol stuck into it like an arrow just stabbed it's victim, this place is 'sinful' but just oh so good. read more

Woah Woah Woah. This place is insanely good!! What do you mean we get to full sized chocolate samples and complimentary caramels? My eyes just lit up when they offered them to me haha! They weren't small samples, no, they were huge! It was delicious and it totally enticed me into buying a box of 6 hehe. The chocolates really live up to their name, they really are the best! On top of that, the service here is ah-mazing. Top tier, they put high end restaurants to shame! The people here are genuinely friendly, and are super nice about recommending chocolates for you to try! They also have a variety of wine/chocolate pairings, and gift items! I could not add enough 'really's in front of the word 'good' to tell you how impressed my tastebuds were! The staff are so sweet! They are a quiet, little local business that deserve to go big. They make really good chocolate. I only talked with one of the workers briefly, but they offered me and the group I was with each a piece of complimentary chocolate. I bought a dark chocolate bar and a matcha chocolate. They told me that they used no preservatives and the label on the dark chocolate said no added sugar. I thought it was worth the price. I thought it was so well-made. I didn't have that dry irritating feeling in my throat I get from the super cheap "junk food" chocolate. This is quality and I know I'll definitely be back for more of this chocolate that is Sinfully the Best! read more

Oh my god. ...I wish I could leave that as my review but I'm way too talky/writey to leave that be. If you haven't taken the time to go, you need to make some time because, oh my god. My friend and I normally head to Steveston for dinner and/or coffee. We always have to pass by Sinfully The Best with our noses pressed to the window as the Closed sign mocks us quietly. Yesterday, I found myself in Steveston for another reason and made sure I stopped. Thank goodness I did. It was chocolate mousse cup day. CHOCOLATE MOUSSE CUP DAY. Say it with me: MMMMMMMMM! They gave me a sample of a small chocolate mouse in a chocolate tulip cup with a tiny chocolate topper/scooper thing. I wanted to buy so many just for me. They also have some of the most beautiful looking chocolates, all glossy and pretty with swirls of colour or rolled in something yummy looking. They also have liqueur chocolates with little glass pippettes filled with liqueur. Seriously, PIPPETTES. I have to buy 4 of each after my sister has her baby. (Maybe not sambuca. I'm not a black licorice fan. But definitely everything else.) She loves liqueur chocolates. I also bought these gorgeous dragonfly earrings there. Who knew they had little crafts and doodads? Doodads are my weakness, especially handcrafted doodads. I want to live there, though if I keep going as often as I dream, they'll have to widen the door to get me out. read more

My husband, mom-in-law and I dropped by after brunch one rainy afternoon. The store is very neat, which enhanced our appetite to shop for gifts. This place knows how to do everything. They make chocolates, cookies, olive oils and a few other things, but there's enough chocolate to keep me busy for a while so I've only had the chocolate. Its mostly homemade. There are a few types of chocolate that they bring in, but the majority of it is made there. The minute you walk in you will be greeted and offered a mousse cup. These mousse cups are not your regular sample, they are a full-sized thing. They are amazing. I have seen many people walking in just to browse, try the mousse cup and end up buying a box. The mousse cups are not the only samples. They usually have a plate of chocolates that are missing pieces, or too small or whatever for sampling. Also if you want to try anything just ask, they have no problems giving samples at all. It is expensive due to it being done by weight,but every time I always remember how many samples I got as well as how good the service is, plus the fact that they do a lot of work themselves. Also, when buying a box, they will make it look nice. If there are any spaces at all, they will fill in the gaps with complimentary chocolates. I bought a box with an odd number of oddly shaped chocolates so I ended up with about 4 or 5 complimentary ones. On top of that, they give you another sample when you make a purchase. Seriously, could this place be any more chocolatey wonderful? When you walk in, you are greeted by the smell of chocolate, deep and delicious. We were quickly greeted and offered mousse cups...that were absolutely delicious. Although the shop is relatively small, it was just so darn inviting and delicious smelling that we lingered, just enjoying the ambience. We (our whole party of 5) were offered another amazing sample of mouth watering caramels. We started making our pile of must buy items, and it just seemed to keep growing! In the end we purchased all kinds of delicious goodies that were wrapped up beautifully. And you know what? As we have been sampling our yummy purchased for the last few days, they have been so delicious. If you love chocolate and are in Steveston, you MUST COME HERE!! read more

I was just given a gift bag of Sinfully the Best toffees at a corporate event in Vancouver. I was astounded! I never knew a simple toffee could be so decadent. I have shared my toffees with three others and they were in complete agreement that they were heavenly! I do not live near Steveston, but I am planning on driving there to pick up some chocolates! Awesome chocolatier place, it's unique. They even offer classes to teach how to make the chocolate, after you make it you can bring it home and share with your family. The staff greeted us with a free sample explaining to us what it is and what's in it. Staff is very friendly and informative when asked about each pieces of chocolate. There is no doubt that the quality of STB products is great. However, my experience with their customer service had left me a feeling of being discriminated, which is very rare in an area like Richmond, which has a high density of Chineae population. Personally, I hate to use racial discrimination as a cause for any incident. But on Dec 22 at 10:45am, I was the only customer there with an ethical background. I was the 2nd in the lineup paying for a tin of hot cocoa. A staff was offering sample of mousse cup to everyone except me, even we made eye contact. I was fine about that but then, she ignored me to ring me up at the cashier after the 1st customer in line had finished his transaction, leaving me standing in line. Even we made eye contact again, She just went back behind the counter and resumed her chocolate making task. I was shocked and stood there for another 2 minutes and finally someone asked me if I had been helped. I replied,"obviously not." There were 6 staff working at the moment with 4 customers in store. Benefit of a doubt that there was no discrimination involved, they need to review their operation flow to improve their quality of service. How can they deal with more customers if their business grows? read more

Their caramels don't stick to your teeth - but I wish they did, because I could not stop eating my sea salt or espresso caramels... yum yum yum! My girlfriend and I were walking to Steveston Warf and we stumbled upon this place, it was a happy accident. Of course my chocolate radar was on in full swing and with the words "sinful" and "chocolate" in the same sentence it was practically calling my name to come in. The minute we walked in we were greeted by a very sweet lady whom we suspected owned the place. We were given generous samples, attention and she had stories about the chocolates. The chocolates in the display case looked like pieces of art...too good to eat, however, believe me that these pieces may not last 10 minutes. In fact I ate mine before my foot was out the door. I made not one trip but two. I bought some chocolate raspberry spread that I become in love with from craft fairs at $3 cheaper than in the city. I wanted to buy a whole box, however, from Steveston to Vancouver in the heat it would not have made it (also I would more likely have eaten it). I got off the bus one stop sooner than intended, however, these things happen for a reason, a chocolate reason. read more

I recently visited Sinfully the Best to order chocolates for a corporate event. I have to say the customer service was flawless from start to finish. I gave them a budget, units and a pickup date and the result were beyond my expectations! The individual chocolates looked like little pieces of art and they were delicious with unique flavours to boot.
