This is the second visit to Fire Wood. We live the burgers. However...... today the service was terrible. 4 of us walked in. Went up to order and was blatantly ignored by 7, yes 7 employees! 2 girls counting money on the counter. 2 young men trying to sign out on the register. And 3 other young men, perhaps cooks, standing around just staring at us. No one ever acknowledged us, pretty damn rude. I would have walked out, there are plenty of places to eat on Main Street, but my Mom was wanting a burger. So I sucked it up and we stayed. However, I won't be back. read more

We dropped by here on our last day in Nor cal and wanted to grab something before hitting the road. I thought it would be quick but that was not the case. There was only one person serving the food so it took forever to get our orders... I ordered the taco combo with fish and chicken with a side of rice and beans. The sides were plain and I wasn't too happy since the order took so long but because the fish tacos were so good I had to give them a 4! The chicken tacos was really good too. OLD REVIEW: Had the White/Green wood fired pizza today. It was not good. There was too much white sauce loading down the pizza (too heavy for this style pizza). Sauce lacked salt. Spinach topping was frozen, not fresh, very disappointing as fresh is in season yearlong. The pizza felt oily and didn't sit well afterwards. Crust was light and chewy, just perfect. Just had a very disappointing experience at Firewood. We arrived at 10:55am, hours of operation were not displayed on the outside. We saw two people (one male/one female) eating at a table. At 10:57 we called to find out when the restaurant opened. We were put on hold, never taken off of hold and at 11:00 a female staff person pushed the door open forcefully in an unwelcoming manner said "we open at eleven and turned on her heel. I grabbed the door and said "oh we were trying to find out when you open", she said "I know, we were trying to eat here". There was still a man at the table and I made eye contact with him and said "we didn't see the hours of operation displayed and were trying to find out when you open". He down right glared back at us. I stopped dead in my tracks and said to the rest of our party (of 4) I don't think we are welcome here". We went across the street instead for lunch. Historically we ALWAYS eat at Firewood and have since it opened. It is our first choice to take guests who come in and certainly new comers to the area. To be treated this way was a shock and made us reconsider whether we will continue to hold Firewood in such high regard. read more

Poor experience all around. We were a group of eight and ordered a variety of food. After ordering, we found a table upstairs which hadn't yet been bussed, after waiting a while, we ended up cleaning it off ourselves - and we noticed others doing the same. The food when it arrived, was not great. My daughter had the tamale, which was probably the best thing we ordered. The burgers were big, but oddly unflavored (and pretty undercooked). The Olive pizza was... disgusting. Literally the worst pizza I have ever tasted. After wiping the grease off the top, I was hoping the flavor might not betray the fact that the olives were clearly from a can and the cheese was from a bag. Sadly, the taste was even worse than it looked. It was so bad I took it back and asked for a refund. It was literally inedible. To the credit of the staff, they did offer a refund without any hassle. I tasted my son's pepperoni and sausage pizza, which was also disgusting, though he managed to eat the lot. This place has a great atmosphere and a real wood fired pizza oven. Absolutely love this place. I've had fish tacos many places but nothing beats Firewood's fish tacos. Even if that doesn't sound good to you, try them. I didn't think I'd like them either but now I have trouble getting anything else. They now have bowls (burrito bowls) which are fantastic and great with the fish! read more

Firewood is a very unique restaurant and you will notice this the minute you grab the door handle.. The first time I went I ordered a chicken Caesar salad while my friend who claims Firewood as her favorite restaurant ordered her usual chicken strips with fries. My salad was absolutely disgusting. I took two bites and couldn't stomach a third. I'm not sure if they had an off day but something was definitely not right with the chicken. I decided to give Firewood a second chance but I played it safe and ordered the chicken strips with fries while my friends ordered pizza. Everything was fantastic! The chicken strips and ranch are delicious! The pizza was also awesome! Overall I will probably return. For any newbies stay far far away from the salad! read more

I ordered a mushroom pizza while my wife and son ordered fish tacos and a hamburger. They finished theirs before I even got my pizza. SoI took it togo after not eating anything but the fries from my son's burger. Their excuse...new pizza guy. NOT MY PROBLEM!!!. When they brought the pizza box I even had to put it in. I stopped here for lunch a couple of days while I was in the area and had their garden burger both times. The burger is tasty and there's not a whole lot to them. You get a veggie patty between 2 buns with your standard lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles along with fries. If you want to be even more healthy then just ask them for a lettuce bun instead of the bread bun and they will happily oblige! It is nice to see that they have a vegetarian/vegan option on the menu. Also, it seemed that other people ordered the garden burger as well so honestly you can't go wrong with that! At the condiments station there is vinegar that you can use to dip your fries in if you're into that...mmmmm! read more

I went to this place last week on Sunday during lunchtime. The guy at the cashier was extremely friendly and helpful. There were about two other staff members standing around and when the guy asked one of them to clean our table she pretty much complained. She might've just been messing around or being sarcastic but the guy who took our order ended up cleaning our table. The food was okay... margarita pizza was extremely salty and tasted odd. Chicken bbq pizza and the nachos were good though. Service in general is nice but there is a lot of potential. For example, it would've been nice if the workers standing close by offered to help with the ten drinks we had to carry upstairs back and forth. Might return if we're in the area but will probably look for something else. read more

I love the food at Firewood. The fish tacos and the burgers are my favorites. But there's one huge problem at Firewood, FLIES!!!! It's hard to enjoy the food when you're being swarmed by flies and seeing them crawl all over your food, gross! I am a huge fan of Firewood and have been coming here for years. They have a high-volume of customers (being one of the cheaper and only "kid friendly" options I town) but always manage to have a fast turnaround time on orders. The burgers, the Mexican food and the pizzas are all great (I'm a huge fan of the veggie burritos in particular) and consistent. To customers who have seating issues (which you'd have anywhere, as this is probably the largest --in terms of seating-- restaurants in town) why not get a to-go order and have your food in the park? We were looking for some simple/easy food for lunch. The menu out front looked okay. Walked in and was a little underwhelmed by the cement feel to the place and the fact that it was counter service. But the tacos looked good and I ordered the grilled veggie tacos. These were some of the BEST tacos I have ever had. No kidding. My husband really liked his meat tacos, too. Don't know about the rest of the menu, I'm guessing they could almost kick the burgers and pizza to the curb and focus on their tacos. Also should say that the woman in front of us was a Difficult customer, going on and on about her salt issues and the fellow at the counter even went next door to their sister establishment to try to track down un-seasoned shrimp to satisfy her diet needs. Ordered a mushroom pizza to go and went across to the Murphys Saloon for a drink. I figure if you cant make a mushroom pizza, you cant make a pizza. Pizza was damn good. Ordered a half Caesar salad, too. When I got back to the hotel I found that it was half salad and half freshly fried tortilla chips. Interesting surprise, but kinda cool. And good. read more

Had the best pizza here today. We ordered the Spicy Italian Sausage Pizza which comes with caramelized onions, then topped with fresh sliced scallions. I really wanted to have it with arugula on top, so we added that, and it was just superb! Sorry, gobbled it down and totally forgot the photo. Looked on yelp to see what looked good we both picked this place. we could barely find the place wasn't busy at all. so we walked in the employees were doing whatever they wanted "Randall" took our order. my boyfriend order a burrito asked for no onions or vegetables in his burrito. His burrito got walked out by some regular looking female wearing a beer branded sweat shirt not even in uniform. my boyfriend took a bite and there was pico in it "tomatoes " vegetables. we asked for it to be remade the right way nicely and randall had everything else in the book to say to us but "we will make it right away " bad attitude and BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE NOT SATISFIED AT ALL. read more

This place has great food! I got the fish tacos, which were phenomenal. There's a salsa/sauce bar where the condiments are, which make the tacos a lot more flavorful. I also tried the mushroom pizza and the prosciutto & arugula pizza, both of which were wonderful. The dough is made freshly, and each pizza is baked after ordering. The only downside is that this place can get quite crowded, and service can become quite slow. Especially the pizza, which can take a long time, but is understandable. read more

They are not too filling, and if you order them, make sure to order like two at a minimum. They are on the smaller side, perfect for a light meal. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the fish tacos here. It has been rumored that they sell 5000 fish tacos a month here! You get the point. Good Burgers, fries and handmade wood fired pizzas, too. Beer on tap, wine and sodas. Delicious! The crust is so yummy. We ordered pepperoni and BBQ chicken pizza and loved it. Also, got chicken strips and fries for my son which he loved, it came with good quality ranch.
