And it was! The tri-tip sandwich was as big as my head, piled high with juicy, melt in your mouth meat. My husband got the seven ribs and he could only eat three of them. They were giant and meaty! The barbecue sauce they slathered on was sweet and tangy. Because we were not sure about the portion sizes we ordered a salad to split between the two of us, we only ordered a small, but it was a meal in itself. Unfortunately, we barely touched it. Firestone never disappoints. Stopped by on a Tuesday and looks like happy hour started at 1:00pm. The place was packed and bustling with activity. Was able to place our orders and still plenty of seats to choose. I ordered a half Cobb salad with steak. The steak had a smoky flavor from the grill, which is a nice deviation from just the usual chicken. Also, plenty of bacon and blue cheese which were great. For a half order, this salad was packing! The hubby ordered the hot dog with everything on it. Glizzy was split in half and seared on the flat top which provided a nice crisp. The bun was soft so it was an overall nice bite. Lastly, ordered a side of onion rings. The onion rings were crisp and perfectly battered, another plus. Firestone Grill has been a go-to lunch spot in town for years. The place is on the louder side since games are going on and it's always packed, but you can still converse with your table. The food is delicious! My boyfriend had a tritip sandwich and I had a burger and fries. The basket of fries are enough to share with the whole table. We definitely enjoyed the food. Driving home from Disneyland on Sunday and needed to stop somewhere to grab lunch and to watch the Niners play. Firestone Grill was packed when we entered, but somehow still had plenty of tables. Half of the room is table service and the other half is self serve (meaning you go up and order at the counter). Ginormous full bar with lots of TVs everywhere - perfect place to hang out and watch some football! We ordered the Rack of Ribs, Tri-Tip Sandwich and Chicken Cobb Salad. The Tri Tip and Ribs were both on the dry side and the Garlic Bread was mostly just buttered toast. The Ranch Beans were tasty and I enjoyed the Chicken Cobb salad, but overall, the food was pretty meh. We looked this place up on Yelp and since the reviews were positive and the menu looked good, we decided to give it a try. I ordered the Southwest Chicken Salad. The chicken was seasoned to perfection and the dressing complemented the salad. Others with us ordered burgers and tri tip sandwiches, so we decided we needed and order of fries and onion rings. Came to the Firestone Grill for a dinner on a work trip, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the food and atmosphere. Let's get into it... Ambiance - This is a large building that can accommodate both small and large groups. It's has more of a sports bar vibe to it, with a lot of TV's on the walls showing various sporting events. Seating was comfortable. It can get a bit noisy as it's a large open space so sound travels quite easily in this space. Food - The food was very good. I ordered a cobb salad and it was very tasty. All ingredients tasted good/fresh and my coworker got a side of french fries which were also tasty. He said that he enjoyed his burger too, so both of us enjoyed our meals. Service - This place is deli style, so you order at the counter and then when they call your number you go and pick up your food. Staff appeared to be friendly and accommodating, so no complaints here. Overall, it was a good spot to grab a good bite to eat and watch some sports while visiting the area. The environment was loud and very bad like setting. It has 10 big screens for sports but no audio or subtitles. There are two sitting areas one is self serve and the other is waitress service. We sat in the waitress service and did not receive and service. We ended up having to walk up and do everything on our own . The food was bland and very much something anyone could make at home. The bbq sauce was amazing and warm, full of flavor. It really made my tritip sandwich pop. The burgers was a solid 6.5. The avocado was fresh and they gave plenty of it with the burger. The basket of fries to share did not disappoint. We could not finish them there was so much. They were seasoned to perfection and the ranch with them was a perfect match. The portions are massive! So glad we shared and still took leftovers home. First! The side salad came in a huge bowl! Fresh veggies! And the ranch was so so so delicious! I am so grateful it came with two containers of ranch! I loved the bell pepper in the salad! Next, the basket of fries! I love these thin fries seasoned with seasoning salt! Absolutely addicting! This is definitely a gem in the valley. It's my second time stopping by on my way back up to NorCal and it did not disappoint. Last time I got the pulled pork sandwich this time I tried the Tri-tip which was very tender and juicy, the French roll it was on was also warm and toasty. Service is extremely quick I think i didn't even wait a minute before they called my name, also helps to visit during non peak hours. The place is pretty spacious with a multiple TVs and a bar if you're trying to relax and watch game. My only feedback would be that I wish they had an Au Jus sauce! Have been here before but has been several years so decided to go give them a try since I moved out here. Was so glad I did as food was exceptional and delicious. I ordered the tri tip sandwich which was so tender and meat melted in my mouth when I took a bite. My only disappointment was when I ordered the ranch beans and I am upset with myself because I should have ordered a large size and an extra order as these beans were phenomenal and have been craving more. Now gives me an excuse to stop by and go get an order. Place has great service and place was clean and overall had nice vibes. Great spot. I always have a great time. This place is always packed, but so big theres always space. Bartenders are courteous and professional. Set up is a bit unique. You order cafeteria style except at the bar. The bartenders take your order. Everything is fast. The food is pretty good. They pride themselves on their brisket. I have to say its good and tender. FG is always busy but it never seems to be a problem to find a seat. Love this place. You can stand in line to order, but we typically take a seat in the area where we can order from a server at the table. That just works better for me. It is a little noisy but not so much that it is difficult to talk with those at your table. Every time we go, I get the steak salad and iced tea. It is probably my favorite steak salad of anywhere I have been. Great balance and flavor. The drinks come in large cups. My companions always go for a tri tip sandwich or other salad offerings. We have been going to the Firestone Grill location in San Luis Obispo for years, and happened to find this location in Bakersfield as we were driving home - and we couldn't have been happier! We are from Orange County, and anytime we are passing through Firestone Grill is a must stop. We always get the tri tip sandwich. It is the best tri tip sandwich we have ever had, and is so loaded with meat. The sauce is incredible, the bread has a garlic butter sauce, and it is always perfection. The inside also has an awesome vibe with a ton of TVs always playing whatever sports are on. I couldn't recommend Firestone more, it's truly the best! read more
