I ordered the Cobb salad with chicken. The small salad was a decent size and was served with Lettuce, Red Onion, Red Bell Pepper, Tomato, Bleu Cheese & Bacon. I asked for no onions and the bleu cheese on the side. Staff was very accommodating and my order was correct when it arrived. All of the salad items were fresh and crisp. Haven't had this place in a minute! Went to the OG place in SLO and was pleasantly surprised to see a location in Bakersfield. Lol turns out they've been around for 7-8 years. Got the Tri Tip w/ added cheese, the Pig and the large sauce of onion rings. Everything including a soda came out to almost $50 so a little pricey but definitely filling. Crazy how many good reviews this place has, especially for the tri-tip. I was excited for the tri-tip and ordered the sandwich alongside some onion rings. The tri-tip is some of the driest I've ever had. The sandwich barely had any barbecue sauce on it, so not only was it dry, it was pretty bland too. We had to ask for extra barbecue sauce in order to finish it. The burgers also were dry and not seasoned well. Please go somewhere else if you're making a pit stop in the area. We decided to stop here on our way up to Northern California, mainly because it was right off the 99 freeway. The place was packed. We have a varied menu with lots of different sandwiches and salads and sides. I ordered the pig sandwich, which is a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw. My wife had the cheeseburger which he enjoyed very much, and we added the onion rings, which were good. The employees were very friendly. If you are ever in the Bakersfield area you should stop and check out this restaurant. The restaurant is located just off highway 58 on the way to and from Las Vegas. Parking is very easy as there is a relatively large parking lot. Inside you will find a sign that directs to a table or a counter to make your order. At the table someone will come by and take your order which is a nice thing for those visiting for the first time. Oddly, the majority of the tables cater for parties of 4 or less. There are plenty of large screen TVs all over the restaurant playing various sports. From the menu most of the items are from the grill or BBQ meats. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich and shared a basket of fries with my friend. First and foremost the portion sizes are huge. The tri-tip sandwich had about 5-6 slices of meat in it. Secondly, it was one of the most moist pieces of meat I have ever had even though it looked like it was medium well doneness. The crust did not have a whole lot of heavy flavoring and spices which i did like. The BQ sauce they used was also on the lighter side and complemented the sandwich very well. I recommend asking for BBQ on both sides of the baguette they used. Everything in the restaurant was near perfect including the cheese burger that my friend ordered. The prices were also surprisingly affordable especially the fries ($10 for a basket that could feed 4-6 people). Ask about portion sizes before ordering as they a quite generous. Some of the gentlemen that hand out the orders have poor customer service skills the ribs can use more seasoning and often times they are very tough every now and then you may get a good order the burgers are good but the meat is very dry not juicy at all the Tri Tip is under seasoned and doesn't really have a good flavor overall there's nothing memorable about this place. It's good if you want to grab a drink with friends or watch sports but if you're coming strictly for the food, I'm sure you can find somewhere else. read more

So I had the Hal-a-Peno Burger here with half rings and fries which I must say was really good. The burger had a great taste to it and the onion rings were pretty good too. The fries were ok I'm not a big fan of the thin fries but they weren't bad. I good burger and fries would not be complete without a root beer soda to wash it down.
