The staff were always polite and respectful. But everyone knows the most important part of a mechanic shop is honesty. They had done many minor services with no problems over the years like oil changes. But in today's tough labor market where young people don't want to work, many have it want a car. So its understandable that being said that high turnover and lack of quality is a problem today. Most all businesses are understaffed and over booked and resentful employees work suffers. When I started with Firestone, all my low air sensors worked. I found out they were all snapped off during tire removal. Denied. When they couldn't figure out how to adjust my Toyota brakes they blamed a good working component and tried to sell me hundreds more in un needed parts. The dealer verified it worked and adjusted my brakes. They dont do that if there's nothing wrong. The dealer??? So Fireztone says they are lying. Wow. In only take 2 or 3 repeats of bad experiences with a business to see a pattern. Some previous techs at same location (now gone) lied about forgetting a bolt on a CV joint back in 2007. My son USMC almost went off the road when the wheel nearly fell off. They tried to pencil it onto invoice after the fact and offered an alignment. Bottom line, anyone can make a mistake or break something, but dont lie. Then trust is broken. read more

Purchased lifetime alignment deal since it was on sale, tech left my car in worse shape than when I brought it in. Tech told me he couldn't find where to adjust the camber or caster and extra parts were needed in order to do alignment after he made adjustments and told us the alignment was complete. Needing parts was completely false. He only adjusted the toe on my vehicle and even that was wrong. Did not follow procedures, ended up draining battery as well causing numerous systems to fault out. When I brought it back in to get a refund the guy behind the counter apologized for having an unqualified tech attempt to do the alignment. Took car down the street to another tire business and they were able to do the alignment with zero issues. read more

This is the third (& hopefully final) Firestone Complete Auto Care that I have serviced my car at. The other two were in very busy locations, and seemed a little overbooked. This one is a bit off the beaten path, but still only five minutes further away, for me anyway. They also worked with me on a few discounts that the other stores didn't inform me of. I bought a set of Bridgestone Drivegard run-flat tires at the first store about 7 months ago, so I'm kind of committed to keep coming back to a Firestone service center for the warranty, and this one seems like the best option. One caveat:. both Yelp AND Google give the wrong map location--- just copy the address and look it up independently on Maps, not by name. Otherwise, you will end up at the wrong Firestone store, which is just down the street. There is a discount of about $15 off an oil change with the Firestone credit card, which can then be paid off immediately at the store with cash, to avoid any potential fees or interest. Anyway, very friendly, helpful staff, and the techs seem to be very competent. read more

To get the lifetime Alignment, they will try to find something wrong and try to sell it before they do any alignment at all. It is a scam to get you in. Just hang out for a while take a seat in the waiting area and listen to what they say to any and all customers. You will see everyone will need something done. They even tried to tell me it wasn't worth the time to realign my tires becuase it will go back off setting unless I got 3 thousand dollars worth of work done. They told me my struts were bad and I had them replaced last year myself. Watch out for scary stories and sales pitches they will attempt to gain your concern make you worry and sell sell sell more services before putting a wrench turn on a single bolt. They try to tell you hour and a half to get you not to hang around so they can work on other cars and just do a quickly inspection to get your estimate started. You must stand your ground. My brother has is a mechanic used to work there it is pressure on them from above ranks to do this. So don't get to mad at the worker bees. read more

Not sure how this place even has a three and a half star rating as I write this. It's gross how they can look you in the eye, smile and shake your hand while they're ripping you off. 1,200$ to have two out of four brakes and rotors put on(I expected the brakes on all four tires to be done) and oh, I found out after I left they still charged me for an alignment they said they couldn't complete. I took my car to AZ auto in Chula Vista to clean up firestone's mess. P.s. they said they would have done the work for less than half that price ;) Fool me once. I took My 2008 VW Beetle to have the Headlight bulbs changed since the one on the drivers side had started to dim. I spoke to Chris about using the bulbs I had bought at Autozone and he said they could install them for a $85.00 charge. Took my car in and I had a $20.00 off coupon for an oil change, and guess what,my oil change just happened to go up $20.00. It has always been $70.00. But that is not the real problem here. When I picked my car up I did not check to see if the head lights worked. When I got home I relized they did not. I called back in and spoke to Raymond the manager who said I had no recource since they had installed my parts and maybe the bulbs were bad. And he had personnaly helped install them and had checked them and they were working. To make a long story short I took my Bug to VW of El Cajon. They said the bulbs had not even been installed properly and that is why they did not work. So Raymond lied to me that he had checked them. They could not of worked they way they had installed them. So they reinstalled them and I now have 2 working head lights. Cost me another $160.00. Do not go to Santee Firestone. Raymond is so degrading to women. Something he doesn't relize is that we own cars and credit cards. And can make decisions. Lots of other places to go to. read more

I've been a firestone customer ever since I got my license in 2011. I must say that this is by far the most friendliest location. The manager helping me was more than helpful when it came to the questions I had. What was great was the fact that he even offered to have the actual alignment tech work on my car, although he wasn't available at the time, offering his services was good. According to the manager, they can do any alignment specs as I desire as long as it takes under an hour. Thad the first time I ever heard that. The Firestone in National City, told me otherwise. According to the staff there, I was told my lifetime warranty was "void" due to having after market shocks (Coilovers) and that I had to go somewhere else i.e recommending this Santee location. Long story short, I had a great experience here, despite other people's reviews. I will definitely be back. read more

A few days after my father passed away, my brother dropped my mothers car off to get an oil change and replace a hose to the steering wheel fluid reservoir. Firestone guy said it would cost a couple of hundred dollars. A few days later Firestone called my mom to say after they replaced a hose, all the fluid leaked out of another hose. It was going to delay the repair by four more days! Two hose replacements and one oil change a whopping $808.00 !!!! WTF?? This is for my 80 year old mother who just lost her husband of 57 years married to him, less than a week ago!!! I'm livid to say the least! The amount of time for 2 hose replacements and an oil change is not $800. !!! I'm calling the better business bureau on the shady unfit company! read more

So I took my car in to have some work done and decided to use this mechanical breakdown insurance I had purchased back when I bought my car. It was the first time I had ever used it and they required the shop call them to get authorization to cover any repairs. Come to find out that the insurance company is ridiculously difficult to work with and took an hour on the phone to get the approval. Never the less Trevor persisted and got the work approved. On top of that he noticed another issue after they took the car in and spent another hour+ on the phone to get that work approved as well. I'm a bit disappointed with MBI that I purchased, but very happy with the service, professionalism and work done on my car. read more

As long as you follow the simple rules of life, Firestone Santee is the best for my fleet vehicle, my personal vehicle, and my fiancée's truck. I do see some bad review and it confuses me, don't trust angry reviews. Most people don't go out of their way to praise, only to trash Waiting in CRAZY California is a normal element to life, I once thought I was going to die and had to wait 6weeks for the American medial system to approve my CT-SCAN. Yup that's what happens when you work for a living and pay your bills and do the right thing. Again, get in line. If you think that you are to be put ahead of everyone else that actually scheduled their appointment, then it is you as a character S.G. that needs some help. Sorry, but I call it as I see it. However; Firestone's Santee managers, Tiffany Apple and Kristopher Niva are beyond professional. It seems that in todays day and age dishonesty and just simple $ symbols rule over all common sense. NOT WITH THIS BUNCH, they're honest and they will tell me exactly when they can have my vehicle done and we have never had an issue. They will always tell you the difference between recommend and must, most all shops go to must because they want your $$$. Honesty truly is rare in any company now a days. Outraged! Told I had to replace a tire because of two punctures. Both were NOT on the edge or sidewall. Kept the tire - took it to Discount and one other on Tuesday. Informed that it was repairable. in a bind - Dec 31 - had to be somewhere - bought a new tire for $155 + all the add ons. The staff is commissioned and I have been ripped off. I am 80 years old - Trusted the expertise of your staff. Firestone took advantage of me and the urgency of New Year's Eve. read more

Great service! They really help me with all my car problems. I have three vehicles and been bringing them all to this shop for about 8 years now. They always fix it right the first time and are very knowledgeable. And they don't sell me stuff I don't need. One time I thought I needed brakes but they called me and said I didn't need them and I didn't have to pay a thing since they have free brake inspections. May not be the fastest shop in town but they do quality work and you can't rush quality. One suggestion though is make an appointment. They sometimes get very busy, but if you have an appointment then they take you right in and get it done as quick as possible. And they will drive you home if your car may be there all day so you aren't stranded there waiting for it to be finished. Very nice showroom since they had it remodeled last year. And the shop and technicians are very clean as well. I don't get the feeling that my car will be covered in grease and hand prints when its given back to me. Can't say enough great things about this Firestone. Recommend it to all my friends and family read more

Great first time experience. Came in for a lifetime alignment service on my 350z. I was told to take my car here because my car is lowered and they have an in ground alignment rack at this Firestone location, so I set an appointment on a Sunday morning. The guy at the counter and the alignment tech Ian were fast, knowledgeable and professional. I have custom suspension on my car but the alignment tech knew what to do and got me squared away in less than 1 hour. If you are looking for an good alignment shop where the tech knows what he is doing, go here, you will not be disappointed. Will be coming back again in the future for an oil change and alignment when I need it. I've found my alignment place. read more

I wanted to write this review and say how AMAZING Tiffany was/is! I had gotten a phone call from her letting me know she had found some of my personal belongings. I called her back and explained that my wallet had been stolen earlier this week and since they closed before I got off work from one job I wouldn't be able to come pick them up until the following day. She kindly said she would hold it until I could come pick it up. I get a text a few hours later from my manager saying that Tiffany had dropped them off at my work!!! Tried to use this Firestone again after two years from the time they tried to screw me over for work they screwed up on after working on my vehicle without authorization to generate a bigger bill being it was an older woman who dropped off the vehicle for me that time. Today 7-21-10 went to Firestone Santee for a simple oil change-tire rotation-& filter change and was told it would be ready in couple of hours this was at 9:45am.By 2:00pm I still had not received a call and called to pick up my vehicle and was told it was not ready but, he could have it done for me in 30min.At this time I explained to him I had an appointment to make and needed him to absolutely be sure he would be finished in 30min.as he said," Yes, no problem!". Thirty min. later I call him back only to get put on hold. Once my call was addressed I was informed it would be another 10 min. worth of work. I show up in 10 min. to pick my vehicle up and ended up waiting 35 more mins for him to finish it up; making me late for my appointment of which I now have to reschedule because this guy didn't have the courtesy to tell me he had choose not to do it in the six hours that he had it for! I'm done with this place for good, I'm not going for a third time. read more

Took my car in cause something was leaking. They showed me exactly what was leaking. He said that he would not allow me to drive my car off the lot bc of the leak so I had to pay $1800.00 to get it "fixed." Manager said it was fixed and now I was good to go. A month later, it's still leaking, I take it back and the same guy looks at it. Now it's something else that's causing the leak, it's going to cost more $$$, and of course they can't fix it. I have come to this store 3 times to get oil changes and on all 3 visits I had bad experiences. My 1st visit, I when I got my car back, I noticed that my air filter had been tampered with. The air filter box was opened and they didn't close it back. I called to let them know to please be more careful next time. The guy that answered the phone got defensive and told me that they don't touch the air filters when doing oil changes. Although they checked everything else under the hood. So whatever. I wasn't going to argue with the guy about it. The next time I went, when they called me that my car was ready, I told the guy that I'll be picking it up in the next hour or 2. He said ok. When I got there, he told me that my starter was bad and they left my car on so that it wouldn't stall on me when I picked it up. I wish he would have told me that over the phone when I told him that I would be picking it up in about 2 hours. I would have gone sooner. They left my car running for over an hour. With gas prices being what they are these days, that wasn't cool. Then he tried to sell me a starter. He quoted me at around $450. That was a ridiculous price. I don't know how much he was charging for the part and how much for labor but it's a basic part and it doesn't take long to replace it. I declined it and drove straight to Auto Zone and bought the part for $75. And I went to my dad's house so he can help me install the part. We did it in 20 minutes. My 3rd and final visit, they had my car for an hour then a lady called me and told me that they couldn't do the oil change because the drain plug had been stripped by whoever did the last oil change. I told her that they did the last 2 oil changes. So she said, No, whoever did the oil change before I started bringing the car to them. That does not make sense at all. They would have found that issue the 1st time I brought it to them if it was someone else. Then she told me that they can only do the oil change if I buy from them an entire oil pan. She wasn't trying to sell me the drain plug. She wanted me to buy the entire oil pan. I had finally had enough with this place. I just picked up my car and went to the place across the street and they did the oil change in 15 minutes with no problems. I do not feel good coming to this place anymore. I'll just be taking my car to that other place instead from now on. read more
