DO NOT GO HERE!!! Dropped off a car for service to get my fuel injectors replaced. Brought OEM parts so they wouldn't have to order them. The team there didn't raise any concerns or issues. The next day i pick up the car and it dies on me right in front of my house (1.5 miles away). Now my car wont start. I was told over the phone to bring it on a flat bed back to pep boys to take a look at it. I spend $150 on a flat bed on top of the $1k over priced service to do pretty much nothing but ruin my car. When i bring it there management tells me they don't work on OBD1 cars. AFTER I PAID FOR THE SERVICE AND THE FLATBED TO BRING MY CAR BACK IN MIND YOU. They did not compensate me and now I had to pay to bring it to another shop. I say the worst part is the initial quote for over $1,000 for a 2 hour job MAX to replace a part i paid for on my own even though they admitted they did not use the full 6 hours of labor. When I informed them I wouldn't be moving forward with their services after the diagnostic, they began to give me an attitude when I had additional questions so I could buy myself the correct part. Drove off, and the brakes were so grabby that it scared me. Large amount of smoke coming from the brakes. I pulled over and called them and they said it was normal. I've never had that experience. Was told to just break them in. Over the course of the next week or so and on a mountain driving trip the brakes got really bad. With my family in the car. I limped it in to Pep Boys at 9 o'clock this morning. By noon, they were done fixing the bad install they had done ...no thank you, no sorry, no fuck you. I would give negative stars if it were possible. Took my van in for an oil change and tire rotation. When I arrived to pick up my van the tires were not rotated (I had a mark on the front tire). The employees said oh yes the tires were rotated and argued with me. The manager looked at the video and sure enough the tires were not rotated. They refused to rotate them that day and I had to go back a few weeks later. I do not trust these people. If they lie about rotating the tires what else are they lying about!? I stood and watched the tires being rotated this time and pulling out of the parking lot the tire pressure light was on and the rear tire pressure that should be at 80 is 60. 4 out of 5 times we have used this place I have been done wrong on my time, my diagnosis, and James at the front desk sees me walk in the door every bloody time, but he isn't doing anything and waits forever to even address me courteously. James is laziest employee on earth. Fire this guy. He waits then for Daniel to notice me and help me as I stand there unrecognized even though he sees me walk in the door. Daniel is nice but he is slow, half asleep, and half the time has his feet up on his desk. Someone needs to hold these guys to some customer service standards. Then they misdiagnose my car's problem twice, then two other times they under estimate the time it would be to fix the car when you wait there and when you are the only one waiting they still make you wait until as late as humanly possible, even though other cars don't need to be done as owners aren't waiting for their car to be picked up. The garage itself is a heavy metal concert, but whatever. The best thing the district manager could do is fire Daniel, and James especially, and start at ground zero and build back up customer service. i would rather them zero stars or even negative stars. do not take your car here for ant reason, not even a tire rotation. this place will ruin your car. i've only had bad experiences here, and they have tried to fix the problem only to make it worse. i went to get tires, and they suggested a coolant exchange. this led to my car overheating, which caused the engine gaskets to warp and i had to have the entire thing replaced by subaru, which cost me $4,500, and i went to corporate and they denied everything, and sent their in house inspector to investigate the claim, and of course, they denied it. i reported them to the better business bureau and the bbb had multiple complaints about this location. when one of the tires on my car got a nail, they replaced the tire, and then when i took it in to the subaru dealership, a lug nut was stripped and it needed to be replaced. pep boys again denied fault, when that is the only place i have taken my car to. avoid at all costs. read more

Got the the location and they attended 2 other people before me even though they got here after me. Was told it was going to be an hour to an hour and a half for just balancing which is fine. Had my kids so took them Across the street to walk around and kill some time after about an hour and some change started heading back. When we got here I thought they'd be finishing up or maybe 10-15 min more. After sitting for 10 min I ask about how much longer and they said another 45 minutes!! Absolutely terrible service. Arrived 25 minutes early to an appointment for a wheel alignment check and service. Took 2.5 hours for the car to be done. Granted I was early I get the need to wait for my appointment, but I saw my vehicle sit on the alignment rack for almost an hour before I asked for an update at which point it took the tech exactly 7 minutes to do the alignment, then it took another 10 minutes after the car was done for me to go and ask if it was done because Daniel was too busy on his phone vaping like other comments on here have said. I went for a simple oil change, rotate my tires, which I bought there and check my alignment which I purchased a lifetime alignment when I got my tires. When I got my truck back, everything that they could possibly have messed with was messed with inside of my cab. My two trip odometer were reset to zero my first trip odometer was tracking my gas mileage on my most recent tank and the mileage I get on that tank. My second trip odometer was the original miles on my truck when I bought it brand new from the dealer which tracked my gas mileage from new. Both of those were reset. My seat was so far forward. I couldn't get in my truck without moving my seat back. I could go on, but that should give you an indication of what's going on at this place and I would not recommend taking my vehicle there for anything. The last time I went for an oil change my information center in my dash was telling me my air cleaner needed to be changed so I had them to do that. Also, when I got back in my truck that time the change oil was reset but the air cleaner wasn't so I went back in and asked about that and they said oh we didn't do that but you can go next-door to the auto parts store and buy you an air cleaner and so I did and did that myself. Didn't seem to care where they took at $500 Took the car home total time waiting +4 hours -Day 2- Scheduled 11AM drop off (again) +5 Hours Car doesn't get seen until 2PM, Like really? I Get a short staff but looking over here, it seem clear they don't know how to manage time, nor expectations. Told its a slight leak they must have missed the first time, $708 (for a AC condenser and labor) Still not fixed, they up charge me $325 bucks for a AC compress that sells online for $175 from motorcraft, the original part manufacturer. What ever at least it will be nice to have it fixed. Day 3 - Scheduled drop off 8:30 AM + 3Hours Car gets see around 1pm, seriously? I have an appointment to drop off, my car till the time the part arrives should be in there air with the old one removed in prep for new one that i got overcharged for. Whatever, at least it couldn't get worst right? Wrong, Now a known Slight leak in my Radiator hose is a cause for concerns (which didn't seem like an issue the last two days), now I get a Call saying they will replace it while in there for another $280....... Stay away, you can get better service, a rental car or drop off from your dealership.. you heard that right, the dealership has a better price, more friendly knowledgable staff and won't present you each day with a new cost of not fixing the problem. Thought it was pretty funny when they were like "We'll we didn't charge you on day 2 for the recharge" - Like no Sh*t you didn't cause ya didn't do anything except waste time actively not working on my car. Had a drop off appointment at 9am, I even dropped it off early. Proceeded to call at 4:15 PM and they hadn't even looked at my car all I had it therefore was an alignment and I took the time out of my day to make an appointment just for them to not prioritize. My car whatsoever proceeded to tell me my car would not fit up on the alignment rack, but if I took off the front bumper, then it would fit so I come out there and take off the front bumper just for them to say that it still does not fit so they hand me my keys, and my bumper without any sort of an apology for the inconvenience. Ultimately, they cost me all sorts of time and inconvenience. They have done good work in the past, but the customer service has never been there. read more

I've tried going to Pep Boys twice. Each time they have tried to up-charge what feels like the max dollar. The first time I went for an AC repair. They told me I needed a completely new part and it would cost over $2000. I then went to a momma-poppa place that had close to five stars on Yelp to get a second opinion. They said it was just a new hose. It cost $750, thanks Volkers!! I was confused how two different places can come to two different conclusions but I let it go at the time. I tried going in today to get a screw out of my tire that I spotted right away. Not many places are open on Sunday so I thought it was a good opportunity to try them again. They told me the screw was too close to the side wall and I needed a new tire. However, because I have an all-wheel drive car, they said I needed all four tires changed because their balancing system won't allow it otherwise. He encouraged me to try a momma-poppa shop for a single tire change or see if my tire is still under warranty. I got a sense he was genuine about it and didn't want me paying a ton, which I was grateful for. I proceeded to buy a plug kit to do it myself as a temporary fix since the patch wasn't an option. I know they have to be more strict for legal reasons about workable tread area. HOWEVER, when I pulled the screw out and sprayed it with soapy water, no bubbles formed, meaning the tire wasn't actually poked through. BRUHHHHHH. They didn't even confirm if there was a leak! They just saw the screw and went nuclear option for a tire repair. This tracks with my first attempt to get service for my AC. I'm not confident about these guys. If you can help avoiding this place, I would if I were you. read more

Found a nail in my tire and went to this store as soon as they opened today as like to support neighborhood business, to see about a tire repair. Only saw a couple people working and the writer said that I would need to leave my car the entire day as they were understaffed, no appointments. Ouch. Googled and went up the street to Discount Tire where they had me as a walk in - patch/plug and all tires checked in just over an hour for the 15min task and NO charge. I remembered why I stopped using PB in the past now from a prior issue years ago at another store. So, just a note that if you are new to the neighborhood and needing smaller tasks for your vehicle, other local places are better staffed, less expensive and I would suggest you check before heading there. A faulty emission hose at the smog test station brought me here. I only needed to replace a worn out part to continue with a mandatory smog test for the vehicle registration renewal on our older car. They have hoses in bulk, so you can custom cut the length to fit and pay for only what you need because the pre-packaged stuff from the shelf might not fit. After swapping out the part, the car passed emissions. Decent spot for DIY auto mechanics, and they offer automotive maintenance services. As with any good shopping, check for coupons and compare nearby prices for better discounts. I've scheduled an oil change appointment after signing up online for the coupon and it was done in roughly an hour. After that I get an unrealistic time that ends up being at least an hour past when they said it would be ready. I'm currently waiting for my vehicle to be brought in still and it's 20 minutes past. Pep boys in Santee has the worse customer service and are scammers. I brought in my vehicle just for an oil change and tire rotation. After about an hour, my vehicle is ready but when I go in to pay, the tech lets me know I have an oil leak. I tell him no problem, I have a warranty @ the dealer, i'll bring it there. They also let me know that they can't rotate my tires because the tread is too low, funny, just got the tires last year, but whatever, I know the dealership will help me out. So, go have the car checked @ the dealership. Come to find out the ONLY leak I have is the PEP BOYS oil filter that was installed a few days ago.... Imagine that. So, I call numerous times to speak to a manager, never heard from a manager (still waiting FYI) even emails are not being responded to. Sad I have to say I'd rather stick with a dealership than an OIL CHANGE place, but they were scamming me and just wanted extra cash. Shame on you. Hope corporate hears about this. read more

if you're looking for a big fix go somewhere else. my car engine got destroyed took it here and took two months to fix, i have a foreign car so finding an engine to replace it with not only takes time but also costs a butt ton. every time that i had called they said it would be done soon (which went on for two months). i went to go check on it three times the first time was to pick stuff up from my car since it had to be towed but there was no security check, just gave me the keys and didn't log it or anything which j thought was weird. then i went to go pick it up because they said it was ready but then they somehow f'd yo my hood which could not open for whatever reason and had to be in the shop longer. the next time i went back i drove it for 30 mins only for my car to start beeping and stop in the middle of the road. i finally got it back for real this time and it's been mostly good except for the fact that my gear shift has been tweaking out ( which has never been a problem before) at this point i don't even want to see this store again. i didn't have any problems with the staff except for the fact that they never fixed my car and gave me new problems. if you're looking for a big fix go somewhere else they should know what's they can and can't do, so this was rly disappointing read more

Quick and fast when ever I go in there. I walk in greeted with a hello, that really makes me want to come back again. I love how there selfs and aisles are nice and neat, and well stocked. There customers Service is good, when you are walking around some times and a employee is right there, they will look at but not say anything, that is good to me, but if you are going to look you should just ask ( did you find everything all right) now if there is one employee after another I don't expect the next guy/girl to ask the same question if the frist one did, but that is how I see it.
