    Brake Masters - Brake pads

    Brake Masters

Holy guacamole, car maintenance is easy to put to the back of your mind, but it should never stay…read morethere too long. Admittedly, this got away from me, but I believe in taking care of my car, lest the damage become worse and more expensive. Brake Masters surprisingly got me in right away even though I came in on a Friday in the late morning. They did the oil change as well as a full inspection, finding an issue I actually didn't know about. I knew I'd need a new air filter, but I also had to replace the cabin filter as well as the belt that helps run the alternator and starter. That's the part that hurt my heart (and my bank account), but letting it go will eventually hurt far worse in the long run. Jennifer was great about finding deals, but in the end, we were able to lighten the amount through my veteran's discount. Everyone was polite, and the work was completed fairly quickly. I was actually still shopping in the main plaza when the store called to tell me the oil change was complete. I would return and recommend this business as a good place to work on your vehicle.

I had the front brakes and rotors replaced more recently so I knew it was time for rears. They said my rears and fronts were both at 5, which surprised me, and they recommended doing both pads and the rear rotors. They also recommended a brake flush service. I agreed thinking I may as well do some preventative maintenance. When I got the car back, I noticed I had to depress the brakes much further than before, almost all the way to the floor before it would stop fully. I thought this was odd since they're new pads it should be more sensitive not less? I drove around more assuming it was a break in period, tried some fixes like depressing the brakes all the way with the car off, but still weak brakes. So I called and brought the car back in the next day they were open. I took time off work and I appreciated them squeezing me in between their other appointments. After 2 hours I was told they were going to have someone drive it and test it. I thought they had been fixing it, but after a bit the car returned and they said he didn't notice anything wrong so I was sent off with nothing done. I didn't have time to argue so I left unsatisfied. Maybe I needed to let them break in still? I drove it to work, but had to leave extra room for stopping distance as the brakes were very weak, barely stopping the car till over half way down, and when fully depressed I'm still rolling. So I brought it in a 3rd time and I had to insist that something wasn't right. I was treated like I was stupid, that nothing was wrong, but I had to push to get them to bleed the brakes properly. They had an attitude like they were going above and beyond and just doing it as a favor to me, like it was a waste of time to them. After another couple hours they said they bled the brakes using a different method and had a 3rd person drive it. I got more of the guilting and was told if it still isn't good, to come back later and they'll try something but that they've done all they could really do. Thankfully the brakes function as I would expect, except they still shake pretty rough sometimes. There's much less air in the lines and they respond a lot sooner. The car is now safe to drive after 3 visits and about 10 hours of time. Would not recommend anyone to go here. Clearly not experts in brakes, and very low standards of quality of their work. I wouldn't trust them to do anything else on my vehicle. The amount of time I had to spend fighting them to do the job correctly completely eliminated any value of cost savings I might have had. Very awkward uncomfortable experience. I especially didn't appreciate that I had to fight for them to acknowledge there was something wrong at all, which speaks to either their technical knowledge, standard of work, or effort values. I would not work with a mechanic who lacks any of those things so I won't be going back here. No trust in their work at all. 2 stars because I'm grateful they eventually did help me make it right even if it was forced, instead of telling me to kick rocks. But I certainly won't be using their lifetime brake option that got bundled in to the deal. Not going to waste more time fighting for that money back at this point.

Took my car there to have them replace rotors with new slotted rotors, new brake pads and put on new custom wheels with new tires. The wheels cost $500 each. They did all the work and then about 2 weeks later, I step on my brakes only to have major brake failure because the rotors they put on the rear were TOO THIN and the brake pad flung out of the bracket causing the caliper to push all the way out. Im no brake guy but I surely would know that the rotor I was replacing was NOT MADE FOR THAT CAR and there was a gap in the bracket. But you cant see that when the wheels are on. So I had to get my car towed back home. Caliper destroyed and almost crashed into another car due to them hiring people who truly did not know anything about brakes or correct parts to use. So, there was an Iconic in Maricopa where I live. Mesa Iconic said they would pay to have new rotors, caliper and brakes. MARICOPA ICONIC called me and said they did not have the same slotted rotors and would i mind if it was not slotted. I said thats fine NOT THINKNG THEY WOULD REPLACE HIGHER END ROTORS I PAID FOR 2 WEEKS AGO WITH THE LITERAL CHEAPEST ROTOR THEY COULD FIND that rusted 2 weeks after installed. Aside from that, they DROPPED MY CUSTOM $500 WHEEL ON THE CONCRETE and hoped I would not notice. THEY TOLD NO ONE. I discovered it a week later, drove it back and showed the owner. He looked at the BLATANT GOUGE and then looked at me confused like "why are you showing me this" Im like, IT WAS A BRAND NEW WHEEL when I brought it in and now it has a gouge in it because it was dropped on the ground carelessly taking my tire off to change the rotors. He still looked confused because he said nothing. He had no solution nor did he care to offer one.. Once again, me being easy-going suggested maybe he could find a wheel repair shop and they have it repaired. So after two weeks of not hearing from him, i called in and he of course told me he could not find any shop that repairs wheels. So after paying around 3,000 dollars to make my car look nice with new slotted rotors, wheels and tires, I now have a gouge in one wheel and CRAPPY RUSTY ROTORS on the back along with a tow truck bill and I also tried to fix my caliper for 100 dollars. SO AVOID THESE TIRE SHOPS BECAUSE THEY DO NOT GIVE TWO SH$TS ABOUT YOU OR YOUR NICE THINGS. Their employees do not even know they are installing the wrong size rotors on cars. JUST PURE BLATANT IMCOMPITENCE as they bang brand new wheels on concrete and hope you wont see it. I mean seriously, RUSTY CHEAP ROTORS that are worse than the stock rotors I paid to have replaced. Brake pads flung out so you almost crash, a tow truck bill of 200 dollars and a ghetto gouge in a new wheel. SERIOUSLY GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Pics show the slotted rotors compared to the crappy rotors they replaced them with along with the gouge in my wheel.

My testimony is 100% truthful with proof and I am willing to go to court to substantiate my claims…read more Tommy charged for parts and work he never did on my vehicle. Sounds like an old school auto repair scam? Indeed. He claimed to have replaced 2 catalytic converters and replace 6 spark plugs on my van. I had asked him personally if he worked on my car and he said he did. The van still had problems and I had suspicions of his work. I decided to pay Firestone to examine the car to see if the work was done. Lo and behold one of the catalytic converter is my old original stock piece. The tune up for the back 3 cyclinder was not done. After confronting Tommys with the scam, he agrees to pay back for the work not done and told me to pick up a check since he claimed he doesnt know how to do refund for credit card payment. When I came to pick up the check the business was closed early and the shop was closed the next few days. I did not hear back from him after that. I am taking all legal means available until compensation has been made by Tommys diagnostic. Bringing dishonesty back to auto repair should be his tagline. Latest Update: I had also paid him to replace fuel pump which he charged $548 and claimed that this is an expensive job since the gas tank had to be pulled down. I had just got a confirmation from a third party that there are no marks on tank bolts, straps or hose indicating recent removal. Another fraud that will be reported
