Holy guacamole, car maintenance is easy to put to the back of your mind, but it should never stay there too long. Admittedly, this got away from me, but I believe in taking care of my car, lest the damage become worse and more expensive. Brake Masters surprisingly got me in right away even though I came in on a Friday in the late morning. They did the oil change as well as a full inspection, finding an issue I actually didn't know about. I knew I'd need a new air filter, but I also had to replace the cabin filter as well as the belt that helps run the alternator and starter. That's the part that hurt my heart (and my bank account), but letting it go will eventually hurt far worse in the long run. Jennifer was great about finding deals, but in the end, we were able to lighten the amount through my veteran's discount. Everyone was polite, and the work was completed fairly quickly. I was actually still shopping in the main plaza when the store called to tell me the oil change was complete. I chose brake masters to have my rear brakes replaced, because the rears were making noise and shaking when I stopped. I had the front brakes and rotors replaced more recently so I knew it was time for rears. They said my rears and fronts were both at 5, which surprised me, and they recommended doing both pads and the rear rotors. They also recommended a brake flush service. I agreed thinking I may as well do some preventative maintenance. When I got the car back, I noticed I had to depress the brakes much further than before, almost all the way to the floor before it would stop fully. I thought this was odd since they're new pads it should be more sensitive not less? I drove around more assuming it was a break in period, tried some fixes like depressing the brakes all the way with the car off, but still weak brakes. So I called and brought the car back in the next day they were open. I took time off work and I appreciated them squeezing me in between their other appointments. After 2 hours I was told they were going to have someone drive it and test it. I thought they had been fixing it, but after a bit the car returned and they said he didn't notice anything wrong so I was sent off with nothing done. I didn't have time to argue so I left unsatisfied. Maybe I needed to let them break in still? I drove it to work, but had to leave extra room for stopping distance as the brakes were very weak, barely stopping the car till over half way down, and when fully depressed I'm still rolling. So I brought it in a 3rd time and I had to insist that something wasn't right. I was treated like I was stupid, that nothing was wrong, but I had to push to get them to bleed the brakes properly. They had an attitude like they were going above and beyond and just doing it as a favor to me, like it was a waste of time to them. After another couple hours they said they bled the brakes using a different method and had a 3rd person drive it. I got more of the guilting and was told if it still isn't good, to come back later and they'll try something but that they've done all they could really do. Thankfully the brakes function as I would expect, except they still shake pretty rough sometimes. There's much less air in the lines and they respond a lot sooner. The car is now safe to drive after 3 visits and about 10 hours of time. Would not recommend anyone to go here. Clearly not experts in brakes, and very low standards of quality of their work. I wouldn't trust them to do anything else on my vehicle. The amount of time I had to spend fighting them to do the job correctly completely eliminated any value of cost savings I might have had. Very awkward uncomfortable experience. I especially didn't appreciate that I had to fight for them to acknowledge there was something wrong at all, which speaks to either their technical knowledge, standard of work, or effort values. I would not work with a mechanic who lacks any of those things so I won't be going back here. No trust in their work at all. 2 stars because I'm grateful they eventually did help me make it right even if it was forced, instead of telling me to kick rocks. But I certainly won't be using their lifetime brake option that got bundled in to the deal. Not going to waste more time fighting for that money back at this point. read more

I went in to get front brake pads changed and a transmission flush. The employee was super helpful and friendly. They seemed busy but they were able to get me scheduled the same day and my car was ready after just 2 hours. The pricing was definitely better than the dealership. read more

STAY AWAY. This place is a joke and so is the manager. He told me I was missing a washer on my truck needed to do an alignment and if I brought it to them they could do it the next day. I go and gather the washer and bring it to my appointment the next day and he decides to try and charge me 80$ to put on a WASHER. Not only did he deny that he told me he'd do it if I brought it to him his excuse is he has to pay the worker to put on a single washer. 80$ to put on a washer is ridiculous. Big O Tires said they'd help me out and take care of it and even tossed me a discount due to my frustration with THEIR competitor because "that's an embarrassment to the industry that they wouldn't help you out." AVOID AT ALL COSTS. They charged $1300 for struts and I had to bring my SUV back 3 times and the part they ordered is still not fitting properly and still not fixed. I was told I'd get a call when they got the new strut but never got a call. The struts weren't causing the noise I brought the vehicle in for anyways and they admitted that. This started in November and now it's April. There seems to be no communication at this place and no oversight or management paying attention to anything. I came in for about the 5th time overall on Tuesday and was told I needed to speak to the main manager today. When I arrived there this morning they told me the manager came in but already went home sick for the day. Lesson learned to just stay away. read more

Couple weeks ago went in the brake masters requesting an oil change on my vehicle, they did the oil change fine but before coming in to the shop to pay and get my vehicle they stated that I needed rear brake pads as well as an engine filter, plus a full brake fluid flush. All of that for a staggering $800. Come to find out my rear brake pads and engine look like the picture down below, far from any necessary replacement. DO NOT USE!!!!!! Brought my car in to check an oil leak. First quote was for $1600+ to replace Valve Gasket and Oil Pan gasket. Called and said they had to replace the seal for the Brake Vacuum Pump as well and it was going to cost another $500. Called to tell me the car was ready and had no issues taking my $2100+ and two hours later I discovered the car was still leaking oil worse than before! They cross threaded a bolt trying to put the vacuum pump back in and told me they could not fix the problem sending me away! I asked for a recommendation for another shop and they said they didn't have one. Brought to another shop to get the leak fixed and got a call from them saying they would not take on the liability of what Brake Masters did. I got a statement in writing describing everything they did wrong including adding a bolt that was too long stacked with washers to try to get my vacuum pump back in. I had to bring the car to the dealership and Brake Masters is refusing to pay for the repairs necessary to get the car fixed and has not refunded me the money I paid them. Corporate customer service has been unresponsive. Completely unacceptable business practice. read more

I consider myself an understanding person, and patient....about two weeks ago, on a Friday, here's the experience I had: I had called a few days prior to my appt about a stud repair and I was told it'd take a couple hours if I dropped it off without an appt. No problem. I ended up making an appt for 8am and when I checked in the lady told me it would take about an hour. I figured, ok, I can hang around for that. Finally around 945-10am, after having already waited 2 hours, I decide to check in with the lady at the front desk. I was very kind and simply just asked if she knew how much longer it would be, because I was considering getting picked up if it would still be hours. Long story short, she checked in with the store manager, who brought over the wheel hub/axel, who literally said to me: "yeah, it's gonna be a couple hours. We still have to take x apart (and explains to me the process.) I'll be awhile." Ok...., I wish I was told that when I checked in rather than waiting around, but I got my wife to pick me up around 1015am. I literally get home, to my home in Maricopa so many a 10 mins drive(max), and not 10 mins later I get a call saying my car is ready. Umm, what? LOL. You're joking right? Piss poor communication and management and complete disrespect for my time. Just tell me the estimated time. It doesn't need to be perfect but don't tell me it's going to be HOURS and explain to me WHY, and then call me 40 mins later to tell me it's ready. read more

I'd give a solid -0 . They are a rip off ICONIC did the ac work for 1k cheaper. And they "fixed " my thermostat and said that was the main problem . Then I drove it around and it wasn't it. Came back they quoted 2600 to fix the ac . Told them about the service they had done prior if that wasn't the problem and it didn't get fixed . I asked for a refund but there manager said no because the parts were out on told him put the old thermostat idc. He turned around because mechanics and managers don't mix . If you are looking for brake pad replacement only, Brake Master in Maricopa is the place to go. Go to their website and they have special for $169 minus a $30 coupon. They will ask you for brake fluid flushing and better brake pads for $60 more. I declined. The final bill is $153 just for the rear brakes. They always recommend other repairs like steering and suspension. The total estimate was $1100 with the brake job. You should get estimate from other shops before committing to the other repair suggestions. I had bad experience with a Break Master in Tucson suggesting my fan belt needed to be replaced. I told them that I replaced it 12 months ago and it was in excellent shape. The BBB for the corporation in the whole US is pretty bad. The average Yelp rating for this shop in Maricopa is average to good. Positive: Accurate diagnostic of the problem is 5. I was told that the front brake pad in the front is still good. I would use Brake Master in Maricopa for brakes only. For other Auto repairs, I go to Bo Know Auto and Copa Mechanics. They have very high rating. read more

Quick little rant here about Brake Masters in town. I thought that because my old Break Masters in Chandler was honest and reliable, we would have the same experience here. Took my truck for an oil change two weeks ago and I was informed I needed new shocks on my truck. I was skeptical and asked for a quote since I had these replaced under warranty about two years ago at 40k. They quoted me $1,100.00 roughly. Fast forward to yesterday and I took the truck to the dealer for some recall work. They confirmed that the shocks did NOT need replacement and the alleged leak that would cause alignment issues was non-existent. Stay far away from these deceptive thieves. It's sad that they are willing to tarnish their reputation over an easy $1,100.00. I regret ever referring people to this place. read more

I took my vehicle here to have an oil change done and make sure everything was good to go before a spring break road trip. When I picked my vehicle up the check engine might was on. In the history of owning this vehicle the check engine light has NEVER once come on. So we go back inside and tell them. Instantly the guy working starts making excuses, now it could be from some front end damage on our vehicle.. damage that happened over a year ago and never caused the light to come on. Then he tried saying it could be beside a blinker bulb needs to be replaced. So they go and scan the code.. and tell me that it's an intake temperature sensor. They then proceed to tell me that the check engine light was on when we got there. This shady place went so far as to FALSIFY the records and try to say the light was on, to cover up an INCOMPETENT employee breaking the sensor while changing the filter. It took five days for someone to call my husband back. They refuse to take responsibility, fix what they broke, or pay to have it fixed. I also watched someone else come back in saying their check engine light was now on, when it wasn't previously. Now I'm stuck taking a road trip with my check engine light stuck on.
